Yeah, this is truly a brilliant Warriors title. Every move set is so distinct and the gameplay is so fluid, smooth, and satisfying. Makes me happy that it’s a celebration of one of my favorite game series also 😍
The super bosses make it trash. Its so much fun to have to go look up the mysterious puzzle technique to damage the super bosses that appear in nearly every level (sarcasm). Fire emblem warriors is so much better.

Also known as "the game where people discovered that musou games are good and different between each other and reviewers realized they'd now have to actually properly review the new ones or they'd get figured out" BTW, if you Focus Spirit Attack a boss, it reveals its weakpoint for attacks. You can also use a fairy with double bombos to greatly reduce their defence or a fairy skill to boost your own damage, there's also the "extreme crush" skill; this would both mitigate your issue with the bosses AND make you use your fairies more often. You can also use potions on top of this, which, knowing you, you probably never really used :P
Adding to that, thanks to the ability to build up the Magic meter when you gather at least two Warriors (including yourself) around a giant boss, it helps a lot with removing some of that tediousness. It's obviously not something you can do on maps where you don't have allies, but for the most part, it's a good option. And even on solo maps, if you have the ability to select your Warrior and don't want to level on that map, Young Link cheese is always tasty.
Because of the reviewers I've avoided Warriors for 2 decades. Now I'm playing DW4 and Hyrule Warriors simultaneously, and I'm in heaven. Fuck the reviewers. 🖕
Worth noting about the pallete swaps: almost all of them _are_ references to other Zelda games. People have gone in depth before on what each one is a reference to. Not saying more characters shouldn't have had full alts, but they aren't completely thoughtless.
I absolutely adore this game. The only nagging issue that feels like it has burrowed into my skin would be King Dodongo’s entrance. When smashing into the main keep in the switch version, he hovers before correcting himself to the proper position. It’s a minor issue but one that is greatly apparent and I’m not even sure how it happened or why Nintendo still hasn’t fixed it in a patch or update.
This is easily in my Top 3 Favorite Warriors games! Love this game to death. Your rating for this game makes me so happy! Honestly, I feel KOEI should be looking at what they did with this game going further with future games.
Man this game is good. Its so good that my brother regularly plays with me. It has so much content that after all this time If have fully comepleted one map. So much content.
Don't know if anyone's mentioned it or if this will even be seen after 2 years but a big help with the giant bosses is the focus spirit. If you use the special attack during focus spirit it instantly knocks down the giant boss to weak point gauge. It's good when they expose less often at lower HP. Also the fairies are super useful to me. You can use their magic meter for a big explosion of their element, which after level 50 is capable of clearing a keep instantly or nearly instantly depending and each element has a different effect. The fire fairy effect Bombos halves the defense of everything after level 50 so it can really help with damage sponges too. I've done a lot with the fairy systems and I think people sleep on it too much honestly. If nothing else the explosions are great for ko count.
You can work around the Boss issues. The main way is to go into focus mode and use the special attack and it'll auto-down the boss so you can damage their weak points. Gohma may shield itself from your attacks but that shield is only at the front, you can move to the sides or its back for damage but this mainly works if you have two or more people fighting it to keep it distracted.
In fact i’d argue many of the later games are better. Dw8CE feels so smooth, sw4 (while easy) feels great, and this game too. Music is also superb as always
One of my buds recommended DW8 as well. I have a PS4, so I guess I don't have an excuse. Lol. I'll definitely check it out once I'm done with DW 2 and the DW3 Very Hard Mode runs.
glad i finally got home and watched! great review and cant wait to keep playing!! i was always intimidated by how large adventure mode is, but this gave me the push i needed!
Activate your green bar and use the attack. It will reveal the weakpoint on bosses, including giant ones. Saves a lot of time in some encounters. One of the more broken fairy abilities is to refill the green bar repeatedly, letting your force bosses to reveal their weak points a LOT. :)

I remember alot of kids and people in general, complaining about the reputation of the English dub words and the voice itself. I remember one developer on a forum, when forum's came out, asking a kid if he would rather text instead of the voices. I think that's some of the reasons why developer's stopped wanting to pay for voice actors. I am sure alot of complaining caused this decision. Money was probably the main reason though. I sadly pass on some games because it doesn't have English voices. I still bought this game and I love it. I hate having to read when I am playing the game. Cut scenes, it's not to bad for reading though. Voices would be so much better, like you said in the video.
Only real flaw of this game is the handheld mode bug. There's an issue where its internal render resolution stays at 1080p in handheld mode, the same as docked, which tanks the performance and makes the battery crap out a lot faster than it should.
While I never played this one personally by myself I did play a couple of stages of it with my friends and we had a lot of fun with it. And those cons I can add on to each of those like how the story both me and my friend can definitely agree that the stuff involving Cia and Lana was very interesting and THAT should have been the main story instead of let's stuff all of these characters and NOT have them interact at all meaningfully and afterwards let's disrespect Cia by first having Ganondorf pulling his usual Ganondorf thing and steal the villain spot again AND in the shoehorned in Windwaker stuff, let's off screen make Cia a good guy. Seriously the Cia and Lana plot is great and as for voice acting while it is normal to have no voice acting in a Zelda game, this is a Warriors spin off so you could have at least bended the rules because it did feel weird to have no voice acting at all other then grunts. Jesus it sounds like this should have been a fire emblem game or at least the old fire emblem games specifically Awakening and Fates. Thank God age of calamity gave us voice acting even if in battle it's grunts but at least in story beats there is voice acting so I can definitely appreciate that. Never really cared about the fairy system myself especially since even my friend never uses it at all and finally the adventure mode maps while fun it's better to just get some stuff for characters you like rather than 100% completing it because thanks to the completionist I've seen the h*** people have tried to do when 100% completing it and you get absolutely nothing for 100% ing it. Lastly, the game needed better costumes. In any event this was still a solid game and I'm glad that thanks to the fact that this sold well that we were able to get age of calamity at all and that it does improve on pretty much everything this game had which ironically we're getting close to the expansion pass for age of calamity. Fantastic job with the review as always Chris and.....man I miss Lana and Cia and Linkie and Lana got some moves with the summon gate!!!

Midna is voiced. She is the first Zelda character to be fully voiced. Compared to the Wii U version, the Switch version cannot show the equipped costumes in cutscenes in the Wii U version while the Switch and 3DS versions don’t do that.
I enjoyed my time with the game I just wanted a more in-depth dive into Cia and Lana’s story as they were actually some of the more interesting characters for me in the game ❤ ( and yes cia was the one I played as the most once I unlockd her😂)
I can't say much for the Wii U or the Switch since I only owned the 3DS copy, but I will say that I had definitely put WAY too much time in my 3DS copy unlike any other warriors games I have played when this came out so good to see how enjoyable it really is. Unfortunately there was a time where my 3DS broke so I did lose everything I did and have yet to return considering I 100% the first 3 maps in Adventure Mode and was on the 4th and 5th map when things happen along with getting every single thing in the main story but halfway through getting the 2nd half of the skulltulas that got unlocked. But yeah pretty much I knew how to do most things on here back then like the fairies are definitely actually very helpful in all honesty and certain challenges having certain things like some that give you pretty much an infinite Rush Gauge for defeating tons of enemies in no time flat and to avoid damage you have to Dodge Roll like no tomorrow including ones with bases that do damage over time when you walk into them. (Dodge Rolling in those bases usually allowed you to ignore taking any damage.) Last I will say is I pretty much less leveled up everyone as opposed to ONLY focusing on Link most of the time and just payed Rupees to get everyone to a certain threshold when getting the highest rank, this resulted in everyone being pretty okay but Link to be a heavy powerhouse that can obliterate every enemy including bosses like they are nothing. I might eventually get the Switch version one day but I will focus on that when the time comes. Age of Calamity is on my backlog but I do own it to play eventually so hopefully it's good!

THIS GAME IS SO SLEPT ON AG ITS SO GOOOOOOOD. I don't play dynasty warriors at all, but this game is just SO GOOD that it turned a near full Nintendo nerd into a curious multi title geek. Love this game
one big con i have. The balancing. all these hard story mode skulltullas you ez get in free mode. Just pick the big 3. Link master sowrd op bc it had to be, Shiek op bc she has literally everything and a gauge filler and young link, nearly endless green meter
I bought the game the day it came out, and im just now reaching the end of adventure mode. 4 left in kohlint, 1/2 of lorule, and a bunch of the new hyrule map. its a grind and a half, but I was missing 90spider potions unitl last night, so it should speed up again.
Most of the complaints I see about the game is how there's a stupid amount of things to do, especially complaining about Adventure Mode.... I don't get that complaint. Adventure Mode is like a perfect side mode, an almost endless amount of levels that remix maps, characters and mission types. How is that bad? If I ever get into the mood of playing this game, I have something to play. There are games that have no extra mode, where you can only replay levels in Free Mode, and that's supposed to be better? People really can't help themselves when playing a game, it's 100% or nothing it seems. Also, something I love about this game is that enemies are always in the move. It's like a mix of main games and Empires, which is great. The 3DS version works well on New consoles, but yeah in normal consoles is pretty bad.
If I complain that a game (especially a Warriors game) has too much to do it's usually a joke and I'm surprised how many people don't joke about that. Like, I love it when a game has a relatively digestible story with loads of post game. Most Warriors games are exactly that.

I loved this game, it actually made me really dislike the fire emblem warriors game by comparison, because I was like "Yeah, there's a bunch of characters but there is one clone for every single character" it never didn't suck when combos were exactly the same for two or three of the cast members. But this game did it right. Each character had custom movesets, many characters had a variety of weapons which drastically changed how they played. This was legitimately one of my favorite games to play

I mean, they kind of have it, it's just done differently. You still have all the little stages around the map with rewards like health and moveset expansions. As well as stage limitations like only being able to use a specific character.
I've heard about the memory leak that happens when the game is left on for long periods of time and I have a question about it. I'm getting the Switch version for my birthday on Sunday for my Switch Lite, which I got for Christmas. I was wondering just how long you have to play for this memory leak issue to happen. I normally keep a game running until I swap cartridges or before I go to bed at night. Before bed I save, turn whatever game I am currently playing off, and then put the system into sleep mode. So if the memory leak doesn't happen if the game is left on for one single day then I'm good since I always turn games off before going to sleep at night. So just how long do you have to have the game on for this to start happening?
I've never had any issues with my save files for Wii U or Switch. And I never turn off my Switch, nor do I close the game unless I'm switching games. This is the first I'm hearing of this issue.
@@ChrisGildart I've been hearing that the graphics get messed up if it's left on/played for a long time. I also heard that the game has crashed when opening/closing My Fairy a lot as well. Maybe it's not that common.
One of my few issues with the game is that characters that were originally DLC on Wii U or hail from Legends (the 3DS version), will sometimes have missing dialogue, which is a shame as I loved their quotes in the 3DS game (I never had a Wii U). It's a minor nitpick though, it doesn't ruin the experience at all, so I can live with it.
You forgot to mention the biggest cons regarding this game. 1. Giant cucco mode 2. The character level cap of 255 making damage scaling HORRENDOUS in the hero mode.
I recently got the Swith version after almost completing the Wii U one. What I really hate about the Switch version is how every character is unlocked from the beginning... Like, there is no sense of surprise or progression by unlocking characters as advancing the story or in the adventure maps...

The only warriors game I have, love the variety of move sets even though there are a few I find hard to play (Great fairy link, tingle and Wizzro), but then again I haven’t really learned their move sets yet as I’ve been grinding out higher levelled weapons on maps I can bring multiple characters to with my over-levelled young link,he is insane with a magic fountain skill on a fairy he has basically infinite Focus spirit as he can keep it up as long as he has force gauge to convert with his C1.

Definitive Edition is just the Wii U game with all the DLC and a couple Breath of the Wild costumes. Age of Calamity is a Warriors game based in the Breath of the Wild world and is a prequel. I have a mini review of AoC on the channel.
Great review Chris. I'm not a fan of Zelda, but as a Musou fan this game was quite good. I'd like to see a Bleach Musou, or a Musou based on a Western property like Marvel or Star Wars.

@@ChrisGildart I would say Age of Calamity is the king of "pesentation", and because of that i think it does a better job in his approach on fanservice. However, it offers a looot less of it. Age of Calamity gives you BOTW fanservice, while Hyrule Warriors gives you fanservice of the entire series. So i considere Aoc better as a regular casual action-adventure game and even better if you like more BOTW (story is so much better, visually have a lot more personality...) but if you came looking for a traditional Musou/warriors game, first Hyrule Warriors is much more complete.
The thing that concerns me the most is if the game has any real difficulty? All the gameplays i find always show the character barely been hit or that the enemies won't attack you at all, it is like they are waiting for you to kick wipe their azzes and that's not fun :(
Ahhh, there's no timestamp for pro 3. So I thought Con 2 was fucking gigantic lol. Anyway, I don't see Giant Bosses as too much of an issue. Sure they can be tanky, but it all depends on what character you use and figuring out what the right combo is to take down their meters in one fell swoop.
this was my first warriors title back in 2014 and I feel like it spoiled most of the warriors games for me since. I've tried other ones like dynasty warriors 5-7 I think, samurai warriors maybe? but the only one that came close to this one and surpassed it imo was fire emblem warriors
2:22 is why i cant go back to this game. Who the fuck thought it was a good idea to have the camera follow your model for every movement? Makes me nauseous I love this game outside of that btw
and ive often pondered getting the switch version but besides it just being very expensive now, I fear the grind to reclaim a double bomba fairy and the fairy skills... fairies are so incredibly op and the double bomba one just destroys everything
My Cons: - Too much content. This can be a pro for you, but as someone who wants to finish the games that I buy.. You also have to level up a lot of characters. - Having to run from one end of the map to the other. This is specially bad when you beat the commander and big boss appears on the other side of the map. This happens fairly often. - Some bosses take too long to show their weak points, specially when they're lower on health. - Cloth physics on the Switch version are kinda bad and have plenty of clipping. - Would like more of the short Adventure mode missions, too many of them use the whole map and take too long. - Cia is a little embarrassing with her giant bobs and dominatrix animations. Otherwise is a worthy game.
Its a fine game in my opinion but the allies are pathetic compared to aoc. They have died in quit literally less than a minute. Im not exaggerating. Its the only reason i havent 100% it yet. And i probably wont. I would if it wasnt so fucking infuriating. A single ally who doesnt do damage dies,everyone is gone. Dead. And the worst part is that it actually has my favorite characters. But its so unfun to have to run halfway across the stage 20 seconds after you just did.

I don't usually miss important dialogue but if you do get confused there IS a battle log you can check to see anything you might have missed.

Very well done! This honestly makes me want to at last stop only playing PS2 warriors games and Finally try something new. Looks so good!

I bought the Wind Waker Wii U just so I could play Hyrule Warriors with that sweet Zelda themed tablet. It was 100% worth it!

As a zelda fan, the lack of any voices is something I was already used to, this isn't much different from games like skyward sword
I remember alot of kids and people in general, complaining about the reputation of the English dub words and the voice itself. I remember one developer on a forum, when forum's came out, asking a kid if he would rather text instead of the voices. I think that's some of the reasons why developer's stopped wanting to pay for voice actors. I am sure alot of complaining caused this decision. Money was probably the main reason though. I sadly pass on some games because it doesn't have English voices. I still bought this game and I love it. I hate having to read when I am playing the game. Cut scenes, it's not to bad for reading though. Voices would be so much better, like you said in the video.
Only real flaw of this game is the handheld mode bug. There's an issue where its internal render resolution stays at 1080p in handheld mode, the same as docked, which tanks the performance and makes the battery crap out a lot faster than it should.
While I never played this one personally by myself I did play a couple of stages of it with my friends and we had a lot of fun with it. And those cons I can add on to each of those like how the story both me and my friend can definitely agree that the stuff involving Cia and Lana was very interesting and THAT should have been the main story instead of let's stuff all of these characters and NOT have them interact at all meaningfully and afterwards let's disrespect Cia by first having Ganondorf pulling his usual Ganondorf thing and steal the villain spot again AND in the shoehorned in Windwaker stuff, let's off screen make Cia a good guy. Seriously the Cia and Lana plot is great and as for voice acting while it is normal to have no voice acting in a Zelda game, this is a Warriors spin off so you could have at least bended the rules because it did feel weird to have no voice acting at all other then grunts. Jesus it sounds like this should have been a fire emblem game or at least the old fire emblem games specifically Awakening and Fates. Thank God age of calamity gave us voice acting even if in battle it's grunts but at least in story beats there is voice acting so I can definitely appreciate that. Never really cared about the fairy system myself especially since even my friend never uses it at all and finally the adventure mode maps while fun it's better to just get some stuff for characters you like rather than 100% completing it because thanks to the completionist I've seen the h*** people have tried to do when 100% completing it and you get absolutely nothing for 100% ing it. Lastly, the game needed better costumes. In any event this was still a solid game and I'm glad that thanks to the fact that this sold well that we were able to get age of calamity at all and that it does improve on pretty much everything this game had which ironically we're getting close to the expansion pass for age of calamity. Fantastic job with the review as always Chris and.....man I miss Lana and Cia and Linkie and Lana got some moves with the summon gate!!!
I was one of the 5 people that bought a Wii U and this game slapped. Underrated console that really paved the way for Switch.
I loved My Wii U. Unfortunately, not many reasons to go back to it at this point.

Compared to the Wii U version, the Switch version cannot show the equipped costumes in cutscenes in the Wii U version while the Switch and 3DS versions don’t do that.
I enjoyed my time with the game I just wanted a more in-depth dive into Cia and Lana’s story as they were actually some of the more interesting characters for me in the game ❤ ( and yes cia was the one I played as the most once I unlockd her😂)
I can't say much for the Wii U or the Switch since I only owned the 3DS copy, but I will say that I had definitely put WAY too much time in my 3DS copy unlike any other warriors games I have played when this came out so good to see how enjoyable it really is. Unfortunately there was a time where my 3DS broke so I did lose everything I did and have yet to return considering I 100% the first 3 maps in Adventure Mode and was on the 4th and 5th map when things happen along with getting every single thing in the main story but halfway through getting the 2nd half of the skulltulas that got unlocked.
But yeah pretty much I knew how to do most things on here back then like the fairies are definitely actually very helpful in all honesty and certain challenges having certain things like some that give you pretty much an infinite Rush Gauge for defeating tons of enemies in no time flat and to avoid damage you have to Dodge Roll like no tomorrow including ones with bases that do damage over time when you walk into them. (Dodge Rolling in those bases usually allowed you to ignore taking any damage.) Last I will say is I pretty much less leveled up everyone as opposed to ONLY focusing on Link most of the time and just payed Rupees to get everyone to a certain threshold when getting the highest rank, this resulted in everyone being pretty okay but Link to be a heavy powerhouse that can obliterate every enemy including bosses like they are nothing.
I might eventually get the Switch version one day but I will focus on that when the time comes. Age of Calamity is on my backlog but I do own it to play eventually so hopefully it's good!

THIS GAME IS SO SLEPT ON AG ITS SO GOOOOOOOD. I don't play dynasty warriors at all, but this game is just SO GOOD that it turned a near full Nintendo nerd into a curious multi title geek. Love this game

one big con i have. The balancing. all these hard story mode skulltullas you ez get in free mode. Just pick the big 3. Link master sowrd op bc it had to be, Shiek op bc she has literally everything and a gauge filler and young link, nearly endless green meter
I bought the game the day it came out, and im just now reaching the end of adventure mode. 4 left in kohlint, 1/2 of lorule, and a bunch of the new hyrule map. its a grind and a half, but I was missing 90spider potions unitl last night, so it should speed up again.
Waiting for the bosses to do the weak point thing is very annoying after you have fought that same boss dozens of times already.

Most of the complaints I see about the game is how there's a stupid amount of things to do, especially complaining about Adventure Mode.... I don't get that complaint. Adventure Mode is like a perfect side mode, an almost endless amount of levels that remix maps, characters and mission types. How is that bad? If I ever get into the mood of playing this game, I have something to play. There are games that have no extra mode, where you can only replay levels in Free Mode, and that's supposed to be better? People really can't help themselves when playing a game, it's 100% or nothing it seems.
Also, something I love about this game is that enemies are always in the move. It's like a mix of main games and Empires, which is great.
The 3DS version works well on New consoles, but yeah in normal consoles is pretty bad.
If I complain that a game (especially a Warriors game) has too much to do it's usually a joke and I'm surprised how many people don't joke about that.
Like, I love it when a game has a relatively digestible story with loads of post game. Most Warriors games are exactly that.

I loved this game, it actually made me really dislike the fire emblem warriors game by comparison, because I was like "Yeah, there's a bunch of characters but there is one clone for every single character" it never didn't suck when combos were exactly the same for two or three of the cast members. But this game did it right. Each character had custom movesets, many characters had a variety of weapons which drastically changed how they played. This was legitimately one of my favorite games to play

Best warriors game I've played. Worst part about Hyrule Warriors is that they didn't include adventure mode in Age of Calamity.
I mean, they kind of have it, it's just done differently. You still have all the little stages around the map with rewards like health and moveset expansions. As well as stage limitations like only being able to use a specific character.
I've heard about the memory leak that happens when the game is left on for long periods of time and I have a question about it. I'm getting the Switch version for my birthday on Sunday for my Switch Lite, which I got for Christmas. I was wondering just how long you have to play for this memory leak issue to happen. I normally keep a game running until I swap cartridges or before I go to bed at night. Before bed I save, turn whatever game I am currently playing off, and then put the system into sleep mode.
So if the memory leak doesn't happen if the game is left on for one single day then I'm good since I always turn games off before going to sleep at night.
So just how long do you have to have the game on for this to start happening?
I've never had any issues with my save files for Wii U or Switch. And I never turn off my Switch, nor do I close the game unless I'm switching games. This is the first I'm hearing of this issue.
@@ChrisGildart I've been hearing that the graphics get messed up if it's left on/played for a long time. I also heard that the game has crashed when opening/closing My Fairy a lot as well. Maybe it's not that common.
One of my few issues with the game is that characters that were originally DLC on Wii U or hail from Legends (the 3DS version), will sometimes have missing dialogue, which is a shame as I loved their quotes in the 3DS game (I never had a Wii U).
It's a minor nitpick though, it doesn't ruin the experience at all, so I can live with it.
You forgot to mention the biggest cons regarding this game.
1. Giant cucco mode
2. The character level cap of 255 making damage scaling HORRENDOUS in the hero mode.

I recently got the Swith version after almost completing the Wii U one. What I really hate about the Switch version is how every character is unlocked from the beginning... Like, there is no sense of surprise or progression by unlocking characters as advancing the story or in the adventure maps...

I've never tried, but from what I can tell, it's only split screen off the one copy/console or online.

@@ChrisGildart ah i found it been listing to your videos playing through the new DLC for age of calamity. seen you played a lot of musou games and I started thinking. witch musou or warriors style game would you say is the absolute worst of the worst? doesn't even have to be koei made it could be the one of the worst kind of shovelware knock off games. maybe that would make a good video but might not be the funniest to make lol.
The only warriors game I have, love the variety of move sets even though there are a few I find hard to play (Great fairy link, tingle and Wizzro), but then again I haven’t really learned their move sets yet as I’ve been grinding out higher levelled weapons on maps I can bring multiple characters to with my over-levelled young link,he is insane with a magic fountain skill on a fairy he has basically infinite Focus spirit as he can keep it up as long as he has force gauge to convert with his C1.
Man i really wish they could bring link across other dimensions and meet each other

Definitive Edition is just the Wii U game with all the DLC and a couple Breath of the Wild costumes. Age of Calamity is a Warriors game based in the Breath of the Wild world and is a prequel. I have a mini review of AoC on the channel.

There is a Bleach Musou-style game. It wasn't developed by Koei, but has a lot of similarities to the Warriors series.

When Koei Tecmo got announced as the company working on the latest Dissidia I thought it would end up being a chance at a Final Fantasy Warriors... but no, it was just a disappointment.

I would say it's better. How much better, I haven't quite decided. But better in my opinion.
@@ChrisGildart I would say Age of Calamity is the king of "pesentation", and because of that i think it does a better job in his approach on fanservice. However, it offers a looot less of it. Age of Calamity gives you BOTW fanservice, while Hyrule Warriors gives you fanservice of the entire series. So i considere Aoc better as a regular casual action-adventure game and even better if you like more BOTW (story is so much better, visually have a lot more personality...) but if you came looking for a traditional Musou/warriors game, first Hyrule Warriors is much more complete.
I've had a bit more time to sit on it and I think I would agree with you there.

The thing that concerns me the most is if the game has any real difficulty? All the gameplays i find always show the character barely been hit or that the enemies won't attack you at all, it is like they are waiting for you to kick wipe their azzes and that's not fun :(
Starting out it can be pretty easy, but as you go through all the maps you'll run into some real challenges.

Anyway, I don't see Giant Bosses as too much of an issue. Sure they can be tanky, but it all depends on what character you use and figuring out what the right combo is to take down their meters in one fell swoop.
this was my first warriors title back in 2014 and I feel like it spoiled most of the warriors games for me since. I've tried other ones like dynasty warriors 5-7 I think, samurai warriors maybe? but the only one that came close to this one and surpassed it imo was fire emblem warriors
Have you tried Dynasty Warriors 8? It fixes a lot of the flaws that 7 had, while building off of the last entry.

i loved playing the 3ds version
and ive often pondered getting the switch version but besides it just being very expensive now, I fear the grind to reclaim a double bomba fairy and the fairy skills... fairies are so incredibly op and the double bomba one just destroys everything
I'd recommend it on the Switch. Runs like a dream.
My Cons:
- Too much content. This can be a pro for you, but as someone who wants to finish the games that I buy.. You also have to level up a lot of characters.
- Having to run from one end of the map to the other. This is specially bad when you beat the commander and big boss appears on the other side of the map. This happens fairly often.
- Some bosses take too long to show their weak points, specially when they're lower on health.
- Cloth physics on the Switch version are kinda bad and have plenty of clipping.
- Would like more of the short Adventure mode missions, too many of them use the whole map and take too long.
- Cia is a little embarrassing with her giant bobs and dominatrix animations.
Otherwise is a worthy game.
Its a fine game in my opinion but the allies are pathetic compared to aoc. They have died in quit literally less than a minute. Im not exaggerating. Its the only reason i havent 100% it yet. And i probably wont. I would if it wasnt so fucking infuriating. A single ally who doesnt do damage dies,everyone is gone. Dead. And the worst part is that it actually has my favorite characters. But its so unfun to have to run halfway across the stage 20 seconds after you just did.
