Sharper Image Ionic Breeze SI737 Air Purifier - Another one I can't fix - Why do companies do this?

Sharper Image Ionic Breeze SI7373 Air Purifier that wont Purify. Why do companies make this cheap crap they we can not repair. There are no parts available. (maybe a safety concern LOL, see Louis Rossmann's Rants about the right to repair)

How does one test a high voltage tripler, without access to your high end equipment. I have 3 dead units, and I am a novice. I have taken apart one and set aside it's electronics, with the thought I may have to repair the others using the parts. I usually find them used, and buy them for about $20, and use them until they died. I have since been buying the Ionic Pro Turbo models, but I always liked the way the Ionic breeze work...as they move a lot more air...and are way easier to keep clean.

I have owned one of these units since about 2001 or so (their "heyday") and it was VERY expensive at the time... i want to say about $600 or something. Anyway, mine still works, and ive had to repair it quite a few times. Sorry I don't have any more info!

In this case I'll say it's potted for dielectric purposes. Keeps it more compact and clean than if it was serviceable and open.

Until a mylar film / disc capacitor or diode fails.
