  • In this Park Travel Review, we take you on a Illini Campground Tour in Eldon Hazlet State Park in Illinois. This campground is very large with over 300 sites and sits on the southwest banks of Carlyle Lake, Illinois. Many of the sites are reservable, but over half are first-come; first-served.
    Carlyle Lake is the largest manmade lake in the state. It is a major player in Illinois tourism for boating, fishing, and hunting. We think it is the best camping in Illinois.

    Fire wood, a lake, and those sounds of amazing song birds throughout the vid creates great vibes.

      Awwww...love hearing that. My family had “the lake” to when I was a kid. Thank you for sharing that this is “your lake”. Great place to make family memories.

    That’s a big camp ground. Real kid friendly I see. Who knows maybe we will be there someday. Things are slow here on the moving front. Janes arm is still not good yet . It’s also 100 degrees. I hoped to get out before the 100s to late.
    Life with Ken and Jane.
    Thank you for your visits🤠👍

      I am slowing down. The heat and not feeling good, Jane down with her shoulder, the kids have been here for a week. Not sure when we will be ready to leave. I just had to turn it over to the universe and take it as it comes. It’s been a good year and a tough one. I am over 65, and lost 6 friends, now I found out another friend has cancer and it does not look good.
      I remember when they told me I had liver cancer. That was a quite moment in my mind. Thanks for the live chat this morning. Missed most of it. But I enjoyed what you had to say. Ken and Jane

    Great campground review. It is nice to see a flat campground since those are hard to come by in east Tennessee.

    • @HappyTrailsHiking
      @HappyTrailsHiking  5 лет назад +1

      Thank you! This one is flat! We have looked at some East Tn campgrounds. We stayed in Elkmont last year in GSMNP. It is hard to find flat.

      @@HappyTrailsHiking Elkmont is a beautiful campground and some great hiking all around there. However, it can be a bit tight to pull a camper on the road going in. I know lots of people do it, but I won't be one of them. The campground at Cades Cove is very nice and the sites are mostly level.

    Really nice campground for sure. I like when you can find ones like this nearby things to do. Looks really clean and maintenance is kept up on. Did I miss it but do they have tent sites?

    • @HappyTrailsHiking
      @HappyTrailsHiking  5 лет назад

      They DO have tent sites. Many right along the lake. This would be a good spot to camp on your road trips across the US.

      Hi, do any of the sites along the lake have space for big tents? I have a 16x16

    Looks like a nice park. I got kind of spoiled to mountain camping though. Look like you didn't have to worry about rolling down a hill. Ha ha

      We are going to do some Mountain camping later this year. There just aren't very many mountains near home. The midwest is pretty flat. Thanks fo watching!

      Hello. The reservable tent sites right on the lake are very large. If you don’t need electricity, that would be the way to go In my opinion. But, of course, I don’t know your setup.
