    This brings me right back to our Creator Conversations episode. Your thought processes on core vs. secondary credit card setups are something that has really stuck with me since that conversation. For my personal setup right now, I'm building out my secondary setup with hotel cards as we speak!! Keep up the awesome work Stan!!
    Oh, and here's my (preemptive) congrats on 5k!! 🎉

      Thanks so much Spencer! Yeah, this was the video I was saying that would come out right after our Creator Conversations episode. It's really cool to look at your credit card setup as compartmentalized units because then you can really start seeing the forest through the trees! Excited to see what comes of your secondary setup with hotel cards! Appreciate the support!

    Hey look, it’s Matt and Spencer!!! I liked how you named your categories. My favorite name was the “bench” category. Your videos are always thorough without being overwhelming. And btw, your editing is sooooo much improved since your first video. I’m loving all of this growth each of us have had on all fronts.
    Amex platinum? I’ll get it one day, and I think I’ll also cry 🤣🤣

      Haha yes! Happy to feature two of my favs in the credit card space! Yeah, it really is true though. A lot of us have credit cards on the bench (aka the sock drawer). I really appreciate your feedback on my editing, and yea it has grown so much, thanks to some of your tips of course 🤩! It’s awesome to be able to collab both on and off camera. No rush on the Amex Platinum. By the time you get it, maybe the SUB will have grown to 500k MRs, but 99% of people will also be in popup jail 🤷‍♂️

    Stan I watch this one twice. There was that much info in it. I love the analytical view into your system. I’m also intrigued by a couple of things: One no Chase UR cards and two, the lack of focus any transferable currencies. I’ve oftentimes said that cash back could be a better currency for domestic economy and I also share your thoughts on hotel cards. This video is a winner for me even if I may have 4 different cores (Amex, citi, chase and cash)

    • @TheCreditFrog
      @TheCreditFrog  11 месяцев назад +2

      Thanks so much Luke! Yeah, I love diving into the strategy when to comes to setups. I’m certainly a big fan of the hybrid setup, which seems to work very well for me. Since I I don’t travel too often internationally, transfer partners are not as important, but for that one time I go every couple of years, I definitely want some form of transferable currency! I try to focus on like 1-2 systems just to keep it simple! Hotel cards are definitely where you get a lot of great value! Glad you enjoyed the video, and it was so awesome to hang with you in person this weekend for the meetup!!

    Excellent video 👏🏾. Ithink it is very important that analyze and prioritize each card that we have. It can be overwhelming when you open many cards, but creating core groups can make it much easier.

    • @TheCreditFrog
      @TheCreditFrog  11 месяцев назад +1

      Thanks JP! I totally agree, prioritizing, analyzing, and organizing all of your cards is super important, especially when you reach that critical mass where it becomes a little overwhelming. By creating subgroups, it becomes a lot easier to manage and think about what cards are where, and what to do about them, especially on the ones with annual fees to make that keep or cancel decision. Awesome to meet you this weekend bro 👍!

    Great video, Stan. For me, I think the sweet spots are the $75-$150 AF cards were they are giving you just one or two credits (free night, tickets, or bags) with some status and the opportunity for a nice SUB and some on going point earnings.
    I find myself losing out on the higher AF cards with their credits and having to use them. With that said, I think the Venture-X with a $300 credit is an easy to use one time credit and it’s a premium travel card with all the protections.
    I don’t want to do all the spreadsheets and reminders, they’re a PITA.

    • @TheCreditFrog
      @TheCreditFrog  11 месяцев назад

      Thanks Keith! Yeah, I agree with you. Those mid-tier cards get you some pretty amazing perks for not a lot of buy-in like the Bonvoy Boundless, Hilton Surpass/Business, and Chase WoH. Those hotel cards are really nice for those FNAs, depending on the situation and as cards to use at the respective properties when you stay there. The higher AF cards require not only a higher buy-in, but sometimes even more perks that can become overwhelming, depending on the card. Personally, I'm ok with using a basic spreadsheet, but when I have to spend more than a "reasonable" amount of time, that's when I get a little frustrated, especially if I'm paying a high AF (looking at you Amex Platinum, haha)

    Love this video Stan! I’m fairly new to the CC game so this helps organize my own setup.
    Group 1- Capital One Duo, which is essentially a hybrid setup… and strong in many categories. I use my S1 a lot
    Group 2- I guess technically my VX will be both 1 and 2 since it has an annual fee and I use it as a catch-all so I monitor it closely
    Group 3- CFF based on the rotating categories, which I mainly use for Q1 and 3. Pretty much my entire Chase trifecta is on the bench unless it’s SUB year

    • @TheCreditFrog
      @TheCreditFrog  11 месяцев назад +1

      Nice Torrance! That's a great group of cards. Yeah, I think the VX fits in both that core setup and that secondary setup since it also has that priority pass membership and access to the C1 lounge. The 2X makes it a solid card in the core setup too! It's pretty solid to have the Chase Trifecta on the bench as a backup setup in case you want to switch it up from Capital One as your main!!

    Really interesting video here Stan, and I strongly agree with a lot of your points! The beauty of the Credit Card Game is there's always opportunities to pivot (similar to how you are doing with BofA & adding the U.S Bank Reserve for example), and I definitely think my Core CC Setup is going to look drastically different at different stages of my life. I'm really warming up to Category 2, and wanting to be more of a Hotel Card Free Agent for added flexibility to choose the best hotels in each area I travel (your videos have definitely been a huge help for learning more about Marriott & for wanting to dive more into the Marriott ecosystem!). Great video as always Stan! P.S: Thanks so much for the shoutout!

    • @TheCreditFrog
      @TheCreditFrog  11 месяцев назад +1

      Of course, Matt! Happy to shout out one of my favorite creators 😁! And yes, pivoting is one of the most important things not only with credit cards, but also with many things in life. Being flexible is one way to continually improve your setup. As you said, when your life changes, your credit card setup will change as well, and since you're in this game and have a lot of familiarity with the different credit card options, you can pick the path that would be the most ideal for your situation at that time! I'm also happy that I was able to show you a path forward with the Marriott strategy, at least from the perspective of getting FNAs, and in the meantime, you can continue to be a free agent until you figure out which chain would be the right for you, or if you wanted to remain a free agent forever!

    Hi Stan. Another great video. Something caught my eye that I'm a bit confused about. Maybe you already talked about this in another video. How are you getting 5.25% on the Bank of America customized cash rewards card? I only get 3%. Also, you mentioned some categories that I don't see with my BOA card---namely cable, streaming, and internet and phone plans.

    • @TheCreditFrog
      @TheCreditFrog  11 месяцев назад

      Hey thanks! Yeah so with BofA cards, if you're a part of the Preferred Rewards program, you can get a boost to your credit card points. Specifically, with the Platinum Honors tier, you get a 75% boost to the base credit card rewards, bringing that 3% multiplier up to 5.25%. Regarding those extra categories, the BofA CCR card underwent a recent refresh that now includes cable, phone, and internet services as categories along with the online shopping category!
