Damn. Lol. I got lucky on mine then. The clip came off after removing the plastic cap on the spring clip and unscrewing. The nut on mine was form fit to the sheath.
Just got this knife from the exact same source you did (my serial number is even close to yours, hah). I actually love it as a belt knife; i have a few knives I edc on my belt in uniform (mil) and this one sits close to body and the sheath doesn't drop below my uniform top. Also I love the fact I can wear it horizontally in the front and the length doesn't hang on my shirt. I used to have the same negative take on the spring clip but honestly with this little guy I've embraced it and love it; it really is a beefy little fixed edc I feel like i can pound and pry with (I know, I know) and not have to think twice about it. My only complaint is actually that there's no lanyard hole - given how small it is, would be nice to add some length for quicker/easier draw from the sheath.
