According to history, the project to rescue the lands started during Mao administration, and some were added at later periods making the environments in China very beautiful although industrial cities have very bad air pollution. But in fact, most parts of China have very beautiful environment. Although the real ideal at that time was to be able to produce more foods, it's very great to see a desert disappearing from man's efforts.

You have no idea about China's geography. They can use Yellow river to water the Desert it is because Yellow River flows through this area They can easily just doing some projects to guide the river to water here. 3 Gorges Dam is based in my hometown and based on Yangtze River is very far away from this Desert area and if you do so then you will flood all the cities along and make Those cities along the Yangtze River to be drought. Dont be silly

How sustainable are annual flood waters from the Yellow River? What happens during drought? Does the desert dry back up or does water continue to be diverted from the Yellow River? If the latter, wouldn't it be robbing Peter to pay Paul? Hasn't the Yellow River already run dry for years in the lower reaches because of diversion of irrigation waters? upstream?
