LMIA based work visa lene k liye aapko employer search karna hoga. Aap official job websites pe ja kar employers se contact kar sakte hai. Then voh aapko LMIA Base pe aapki application lagvayenge. Because I applied for withdrawal and refund request in collage and they ask me that your wife status required permenat residence .
In your case, You can change your visa status with the help of employer but you can only change status on your spouse basis after residency.

( Should I opt for a diploma/Post diploma)

Post diploma is good. You will get job in Edmonton without any problem. As of now, most of the programs are good in AI as they are all in demand.
