Thing is, I don't think it matters when no one in this division seems willing to call him out. The guy wanted Wonderboy and then Wonderboy chickened out and even said before his Kevin Holland fight, "I don't wanna fight this guy!" when talking about Rakhmonov. Shavkat 'snow leopard' Rakhmonov would make for some potentially cool UFC event posters, someone with those skills make it happen. Is he social media interesting? No. But we want to hear more about the dude because he is a turbo badass who's ranking doesn't showcase his abilities. He needs a signature win over a recognized name like Colby Covington or Khamzat Chimaev in order to get some media to ask him the right questions about his life/upbringing/traditions so people will give a shit, he already has the fighting ability. If he remains undefeated as he breaks through top 5 top 3 contenders media outlets will be tripping over themselves to get the opportunity to share stories of him.

If he disembowels Geoff Neal, he should be on everybody's mind for #1 contender. He's not great with the English, but he's got a "cool" edge to him. I can't wait to see him fght, would be a fun fight against Chimiev.

The finishes matter, which is why I can tell you Rahkmanov is is last name Shavkat is his first name and his fight with Geoff Neal is going to be an absolute barn burner. However it would help if he spoke English. Fighting on the main card of this Jon Jones comeback fight is likely to be his coming out party as I expect that mid card fight to steal the show.

Maybe a complete casual wouldn't, but anyone who regularly watches MMA knows who and just how good Shavkat is. I'd 100% watch a video or two on him, I already have :)

Judging by his former rivals, after Neal there will be Mohammad, then Usman (Chimaev will already be in the middle division) and then Champion Edwards or Edwards and already the new (old) Champion Usman! 😎 It turns out that his 20th fight will be for the belt. In theory, such a plan, but God may have another! 🙄

I already commented but to answer your question Chael. He needs a gimmick that separates him from the pack. Mma is a legit sport but fighters need to take a page from the wwe and add some theater in to make themselves more interesting. All the ppl who had big names before they got a belt have done that. O'malley the crazy hair stoner or mop head Paddy are good examples. They're memorably different types of dudes with interesting looks
