I noticed the aquarium in the background. Our son was recently diagnosed with Crohn’s and we set up an aquarium to help him calm down and relax. It’s been both enjoyable and relaxing to him and really does help us both. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

How lovely to acknowledge some folks do not or can't celebrate Christmas.
My daughter had what should have been minor surgery on 24th Nov it went badly wrong ended up all day in surgery and back for another full day the following day.
I am so relieved she is home got home on her Birthday 20th Dec will be a very long recovery and may need more surgery but for this weekend my daughter and husband can close door cuddle up and breathe... Us as mum and dad can do the same neither have decorated or done presents they are not important having my daughter alive and safe at home is important.
We will do a random alternative Christmas when life less stressful in 2023 who knows it may become, a family tradition

Nice to see you Maggie. Glad to hear your father is doing well.
I am sorry to hear you are having pain in your kidneys and frequently feel ill with your ileostomy. Your health is most important, and whilst we like to see you and are concerned when we don't, we understand there may be weeks where you cannot vlog.
Happy Christmas to you and Zach; and to all the wonderful people in this community.

Thanks for mentioning that after surgery you don't go back to how you are. I think that is so important to know. I often have twinges here and there and I think it is scar tissue. You reassure us! I also had part of the ureter removed and scar tissue removed, so I know how you feel about that!

Hi Maggie & Zak & all the pups! Great to see your upload Maggie, it’s such good news about your Dad. Both my parents have passed but I know how intense it gets when one is ill and having surgery. I hope you all have a wonderful and merry Christmas and a healthy and happy new year! Just wanted to say as the year is wrapping up, your videos have helped me more than I can say. I had emergency surgery for a perforated colon in May, ended up with a colostomy and in the hospital for a few weeks bc I went septic and with no family left I was by myself. I found you on RUclips and it made a very hard time a lot easier. Please keep doing what you do, Maggie. Even though you might not hear from everyone you help, you do help TREMENDOUSLY. Love & hugs from me & my cat 🫶🏼💕🎄🎅

Adenomyosis is endometriosis inside the uterus. And yes, it can definitely cause long, heavy periods. Even if there's not a large amount.

    • @ilovenoodles7483
      @ilovenoodles7483 Год назад +1

How familiar are you with it? Can you tell me more?
Thank you for your comment because you are the first person that I heard say what little you to say about it.
My ob/gyn had told me that I have adenomyosis but I never really got any tests about it or anything.
She just asked me a couple questions and then say "yes you have what is called 'adenomyosis' and she told me that it was basically, that when it's time for my period, the lining of my uterus and the menstrual blood goes upward first and throughout my uterus *before* it goes down and comes out through my vagina.. and then she said it's a form of endometriosis, but then some.
I kinda understand that, but not really.
Now, IDK if I could even get in touch with that same doctor anymore so I have a lot of un answered questions.

I had adenomyosis and had to get a hysterectomy because of it. I suffered for years with chronic pelvic pain, bladder symptoms and so many other issues with that whole area😞 I kept getting diagnosed with endometriosis until I forget what test showed the adnomyosis. Since the hysterectomy that all pretty much went away however my pelvic floor was and 😅is a nightmare due to the hysterectomy 🤷‍♀️ I also really have know idea what the hell it is but it did cause me a lot of issues. I also suffer from severe bladder pain and extreme discomfort for years, which they were continually treating with antibiotics 🤯 when the went to take my uterus they found all these lesions on my bladder called hunners lesions. She cauterized the lesions and filled the bladder with medicine and I was good for almost two years😳 amazing but in 2 weeks I’m doing it again because I can’t take it anymore 😞 I’m happy about your results but I find it can be very confusing 🤞🤞🤞🎄🎁merry Christmas and good luck getting to the bottom of everything, I’m still trying to figure all my crap out also🤯

Thanks for the update, Maggie. Good to see you and Zak. So glad you dad is doing well. I just wanted to mention, I had adenomyosis - my very astute OB/GYN I had in Virginia told me it was a sister disease to endometriosis (which I had been diagnosed with a few years prior). My adenomyosis got so bad that I had a lot of pressure on my left side which radiated into my upper thigh. I could hardly walk after several months of it building up. Apparently it prevents the uterus from shedding all the blood each month so that it builds up and causes the swelling of the tube and the pressure and pain. Due to my age (I was 47 at the time), I decided on a hysterectomy as this was not the only problem I had. It just compounded things. I fortunately didn't go into early menopause as I was able to keep my right ovary. Left one was in bad shape along with fallopian tubes and repeated problems with endometriosis in my uterus. Anyway, I felt so much better after all that was removed.

@LetsTalkIBD A finding on an MRI of a focal wedge-shaped area of T2 hypointensity and restricted diffusion in the posterior right kidney upper pole with volume loss could potentially be indicative of a chronic renal infarct. A renal infarct is a type of kidney injury that occurs when there is a blockage in the blood vessels that supply the kidney, leading to an insufficient blood flow to the kidney tissue. This can cause the tissue to become damaged or die, leading to the formation of an infarct.
Chronic renal infarcts are those that have occurred over a longer period of time, as opposed to acute infarcts which occur more suddenly. Chronic infarcts may be more likely to cause scarring and volume loss in the affected kidney, as well as other changes in the appearance of the kidney on imaging studies.
T2 hypointensity refers to a decrease in signal intensity on a T2-weighted MRI image, which can be caused by a variety of factors including inflammation, scarring, or the presence of a mass. Restricted diffusion refers to the reduced movement of water molecules within a tissue, which can be caused by the presence of a mass or other obstacle.

When I had my hysterectomy for endometriosis, I was told afterwards that I had adenomyosis, which they described then as “endometriosis inside the uterus.” It didn’t surprise me because of the severity of my endo. After I thought we were Never going to get it, it happened here in Sydney and across many parts of Australia ( Although I believe Western Australia’s had it it for a week or two longer). Summer has finally Really arrived. Some parts of this country are going through a mini heatwave at the moment. And in the last week or two or three South Australia’s the one who’s being flooded in parts. It’s being Really crazy and at times heartbreaking weather for some people in Australia of late. And I’m just thankful that my husband and I aren’t anywhere near a flooded area….. So in Honour of Summer, I’ll wish You Maggie and Zak a Happy Midsummer. And if there’s no RUclips post for the next two to three or so weeks have a safe, peaceful and prosperous New Year…… ⚛️☮️🌏

If I were you, I'd talk to a urologist for sure. Kidney surgeon is good too. Someone, anyhow just for mental well-being.
Tiffany in London had her surgery. Since I don't have or know anything about Instagram I only know she had it. It was expected to be a 12 to 14 b our surgery, I believe. I know you reached out to her but she wasn't thinking about after surgery. Too scary. But as surgery came closer doctors kept informing her. Things gotvrealbat the end for her. Nothing prepares someone for after until after.
Your advocacy has helped me so much. I don't have Chrones, my mom did. I have irritable bowel. When doctors have no idea why your insides haven't worked well since early childhood that's the diagnosis you get when they can't find a reason for the nausea, and general disfunction. This year has been much better than the previous two years. Anyhow, your attitude and advocacy is useful for mystery intestinal problems too. You give me reason to not get depressed. I'm not! Yay!
I do look for you. I enjoy your personality. Happy holidays to you both and to your father and family from someone who doesn't know any of you!

I think women's health (reproductive-wise) is not spoken about as much as it should be. I was in my late 40's when my then gyno told me I had PCOS and that it had been in my records for years. I was never treated for it. If I can get back into my own channel more (I haven't found my camera or mini tripod since moving), I want to start addressing things like this and how important it is for us to read our medical records, get copies of imaging, and read those reports. I think if we get into the habit of doing these things, it might be easier to get our voices heard.

@@LetsTalkIBDthanks one for question. I remember a few years ago. You said an MRI showed your right kidney was narrowed (this was an accidental finding, I think u were getting a MRI for gastro stuff but the MRI showed narrow right ureter and at the time you had no symtoms of kidney pain and you saw a female urologist who dismissed the case)
What was the name of that MRI test done that time?

It was the same MRI test I mentioned above! I used to get this test done yearly and it caught the kidney issue!

Isn’t our medical system great with the cost and money spent with the most expensive health care system in the world and you still feel not satisfied with answers from diagnosis. Merry Christmas and Happy New Years and a healthier 2023. Gotha, Florida. 🎄

I think it is insane that these obviously highly technical reports are not automatically discussed with the appropriate medical person. How can anyone without medical training make decisions about the next steps, if any. At least you are Medically trained.. Even if not an expert. Our system defines insanity.
