  • @Dragon20942
    @Dragon20942 Год назад +5

    I switched to cherry blacks yesterday for training since I just got a new keypad with hot swappable switches, after having played on cherry speed silvers for ~3 years. I found that my tapping style has developed to adapt to the short actuation distance such that my fingers usually fully come off the keycaps to release reliably, and yet I still bottom out like crazy because I was using the sound and feeling for feedback. The cherry blacks feel more synced to the game for me because I was trying to time my tapping to that feedback, but the actuation point is almost completely on the other end of the key travel. I also like that the higher actuation force of the cherry blacks help propel my fingers upward on the release where before with the cherry speed silvers I had to lift my fingers with more strength, causing my forearm to become tired faster. Other than that, I don't feel that much difference except for 250 bpm or higher (where I'm quite inconsistent anyway) when I start to gallop more severely than normal and sometimes even end up unintentionally doubletapping. This is probably because at that bpm, I change my tapping technique to one that minimizes travel, and that's where I'm fighting the cherry blacks the entire time.
    tldr: played on cherry speed silvers ~3yrs, switching to cherry blacks. Accuracy is easier (not for the reason you think), and I feel less tired tapping. Speed silvers are actually the training arc for cherry black endgame.

    I started using silvers about 5-6 months into playing the game. But, after a while the short actuation distance made my finger control very lazy. I noticed that my burst control and overall accuracy went down. It never really taught me to press down fully, more like twittle my fingers close to the bpm I was trying to stream. I feel like silvers are better for those who have more finger control to begin with. But, it's not a good switch to learn on. Start on blues, reds, or blacks, imo. It's kind of like someone wanting to become a racing driver and suddenly being put in an F1 car with no experience. Yeah, they're going to go fast. But, they're going to crash, and spin out, a lot.

      Your fingers are now accustomed to the feel of the heavier zealios. It takes time to get used to the feel of other switches. Like for instance if you go from laptop keys to mechanical keys it takes time.

    • @kia_rah
      @kia_rah 3 года назад

      your fingers are more used to the increased pressure you need to put on the key to press it, and the feel of it actually maxing out, whereas with the reds your fingers aren't accustomed to it, so they'll take a little bit of time to process when to actually let go and repeat the click

  • @ericchdjdjnx
    @ericchdjdjnx 2 года назад

    I use red and tried silver, did not like it because I have practiced not bottoming out for bursts. With silver you have pretty much no choice but to bottom out because you have 1mm less room to 'hover' in. I also had worse stamina, the silvers are actually heavier than reds, the actuation force is similar but the spring rate is higher so towards the bottom they become heavier than reds do. Using silvers did feel kind of like mashing as I was bottoming out very hard playing almost anything. My acc was probably the same (not great) but it felt like I was wasting energy and my top speed would be lowered. Probably could get used to it, but I didn't like it so didn't bother. I know some players hit very hard on their keyboard and bottom out forcefully, so in that case silver is not so bad as it was for me maybe.

  • @sefeo0
    @sefeo0 3 года назад +6

    In my opinion switches dont play as much role as people think. Most likely your speed depends on your tapping style and things like that. If you cant stream 240 bpm - you wont be able to do that on any switch. Yeah, reds and silvers are slightly faster, but they wont let you do what you physically cant do. For example, I am able to singletap up to 230 bpm on silvers, but I can barely stream 190.

      @@ecrunava care to explain why? I'm not looking to argue just wondering. In my opinion, I don't think being stuck with silvers for the rest of my life is that bad, I don't really see the point in changing switches when your comfortable with them except for the fact my mx blues are too tiring for me to play with anymore, because I like to play for long periods and over time I accumulated aot if stress on my fingers because I was dumb. And since silvers are super light I wanted to switch too them, I probably should of got reds but honestly the smaller acuation distance will help me tao faster too. And I think you should be able to train your acc with any type of switch, even if others are harder. Sorry for the paragraph lmao just wanted to state what was on my mind

    • @ecrunava
      @ecrunava 3 года назад

      @@abrahamgamer8331 Silvers' actuation point is alright for under 250BPM but once you approach it, you're gonna start struggling as ideally you don't wanna bottom out at 250+ BPM. The reason for this is that you basically have to tap really lightly which can both ruin your acc and enforce a bad habit cause tapping that light will basically destroy your finger control. It is also important to note that Cherry MX/HyperX/Kalih Red switches are a lot lighter but since they have a higher actuation travel distance, they're gonna "feel heavy" compared to Silvers when in reality you're just really used to low actuation travel distance. One last thing I want to say that if you're trying to stream 260+ bpm with Silvers, that's not gonna work unless you do the technique of moving your entire hand at that BPM which is just begging for injury.

      No, it’s a good thing. Some people do it with Black switches (because they’re so heavy) then switch to red, blue, etc.

      You can get both a keyboard and separate switches for very cheap, plus changing switches even in a non hot swap board is pretty easy with a little bit of practice. I do get you point but in the case of playing osu getting just a few switches is enough and makes a huge difference finding the ones you like, i got a couple of ink yellows at first and it was so much better than the blues i had
