Unstable rate represents the consistency of the timing of the hits, where lower numbers are better (top players often score below 100). Note that the value measures consistency, not accuracy, so consistently in hitting 15ms early is the same as consistently in hitting “on time.” The formula is essentially the standard deviation of the hit errors (in milliseconds) multiplied by 10.
Send this video to people who are still confused about Unstable Rate :) Great explanation
I thought it would be about his unstable heart rate for a second
raise his heartrate
"This is an example of a bad unstable rate"
Then proceeds to play like me
And got a UR bether than mine average
my top pp play has a low UR, but my acc, hmmmmm
@CookieFusee even though its a B rank, 5 miss on snow halation?
@@awowowow1325 depends on how much "low UR" is, and yeah you can even get a D and have low ur (correct me if im wrong) if you consistently hit every note late or early
@@SonGoku9001 nah u right g
Imagine coming into his stream for the first time and seeing a top 100 player get 69% acc on 5* with no explanation.
You know, since watching him from the beginning, when he was still beasttrollmcvoicecrack hes really learned to just take a second to think, and say exactly what he means. basically hes gotten really good at communicating. very indicative of his hard work as a streamer.
very inspiring streamer!!
Thats what every not-retarded human being should be able to do. Nothing special in my opinion
@@Apfelsine78 we play osu, were all retarded human beings
@@Apfelsine78 Improvement is improvement, regardless of what your standard for a basis is. The fact is that he put in hard work and effort to get the results hes gotten. You can belittle other peoples relative accomplishments all you want by saying things like "i can do that"/"anyone can do that" but it doesn't make them any less significant.
@@puffonxe thats how it was intended xd
UR is basically just how close your tappy taps and slidey slides are together
yep
I feel like unstable rate is just "consistency", like how consistent you can hit a range of accuracy(300, 100 or 50).
That would be correct, if Whitecat were to play with a 200ms offset with that same Whitecat consistency I'm pretty sure his UR will still be good
I think it still incorrect, if you get all 100 but some 100 are late and some are early, you still get high unstable rate,
Edit: fix typo
Then yea, as beast said, it's a spectrum, late 50,100,300, early 50,100,300. U can hit late 100 consistently, then u get low UR but acc would be low. If u put in a few early 100 in the late 100 then ofc the UR would be messed up, late and early are different
Its basecally how good you are at putting your hits closer together
yea as long as you’re bottling up a single type of hit window (doesn’t matter if it’s a 300, 100, or 50, as long as you’re following the stability of your hits) you’re going to have low ur, because it’s only measuring and observing if there is a change of movement of your hits if they are sometimes late, perfect, or too early. Which would mean that it would be really high if all your hits are all not synergizing in the same hit window you’re supposed to follow.
Beast said with low UR you can start using HR with high acc, which is somewhat true, but that’s only if assuming you’re actually low at UR for hitting 300s (to be fair, hitting all 100s/50s for low UR would be harder, so it’s true by default.)
Basically as long as you’re following the same exact type of hit (flawless inhuman hit window in the same millisecond of lateness/earlyness) you’re going to have 0 UR lol
Basically UR is the standard deviation of the timing of your hits multiplied by 10.
In milliseconds!
perfect explanation!
Thank you dude!
@@fantyful yes
so 112 ur is 11.2 ms average off right?
The last part is going to be "How To Ming3012"
damn, its been a while since i hear that name
For everyone who wonder what the universal offset is for : negative offset means you hear the music early and positive offset ( universal ) means you hear the music late. Having around -20 offset is good for anyone because of the latency of your audio drivers and your machine. A lot of ppl have it at 0 because the game set is as 0 and your brain get used to it so you dont feel like its late because we are talking about 10ms or 20ms late in general. adding more than -20 in your offset can be good if you have a bad computer because you will have more input latency so hearing your music a bit earlier can compensate that latency. But in general, if your computer is not a toaster you should just set it around -20 and not think more about it and use the local offset when you feel like you are tapping too late or early on a specific map so you will always have that local offset on that specific map. keybinds for local offset can be found in the settings. Take note that local offset is inverted from universal offset, while a negative universal offset means you hear earlier, a negative local offset means you hear it late. ( alt + the offset button to add only 1 ms in local offset)
thanks for taking your time to explain!
nah osu actually automatically adjusts the offset internally to compensate for latency, if you set it to -20 it overrides that offset so setting offset to like -3 for instance will actually make you later normally.
@@bananya6020 never heard about that ever, do you have any source ?
@@clamati1436 check the 2007 public beta settings editor or some later versions. they said that in the options menu but i think the text was removed later for simplicity
When you realized SS is still a range...
nothing is perfect
Anyone else think this was a BruhmasterL vid because the title format?
Ur god damn right
Yes, but the video was good nonetheless
There's no "best" universal offset.
I use an AI to route my audio through cause i have an xlr microphone, like ed, so I need to set it. I have it set to +19. But that is just me, it differs for each setup and each person.
I have it set on -13 personally lol
I set mine to -2 and got 3 300pps within a week with accuracy and UR that's unlike me, yet I still don't recommend anyone touch the setting
tldr: unstable rate is how consistent you are at tapping based on the average latency of the taps between eachother
Thanks ed for the big brain
as of now and the last few months i had no headphones and has to use the built in monitor speakers to play osu, has to change the universal offset to -30ms and everything was just perfect about i
Actually didn't know those things, thanks Steve
"lets get a good unstable rate play... anime."
Beast should see me play some maps at -60 ms and still hitting everything correctly
The Katsus and Getsus are for boosting your health and it’s actually super helpful on times when you’re about to fail
the moment he smiled and typed happy i knew exactly what song was coming, god i hate it so much
UR also changes with map difficulty, you can get under 100 UR while ruining your accuracy on an 8 star map, but an SS on a 4 star map can give you 140 UR.
Edit : This is NOT true, my mistake. I look like a fool, haha. Wasn't intending to bullshit or lie to anyone, but it was my own observation(which is wrong) I just thought it was the case after watching countless replays of other top players and observing the UR bar and result screen incorrectly.
Check replies in this comment thread for the reason why this 'happens' (tl;dr it is OD not the actual change in how UR is calculated)
interesting
Makes no sense at all hahahahhaah did you listen to anything minecraft kid said in this video? LMFAO
thats because of od not ur
Yeah if you have lower od, you have more forgiving windows. So you can get good acc while still having a high unstable rate. I had like near 200 UR SS on 3 star maps.
@@yuki_ccy The two are correlated, if say you have 100 UR while hiting notes a bit to early, on low OD you won't necessarily see the difference, but on really high OD which are more punishing because of the window for hiting a note being way smaller, you can get very bad accuracy because you hit too early. On higher OD you need to either have a lower UR (in the case you click a bit too early or a bit too late) or hiting closer to the perfect timing for each note.
man, now that i got time to watch this, some old players are actually insane in getting very very low stable rate, like 13 minute hardrock+hidden low ar and ur below 60? holy shit man that's like the 1% of the lowest ur in osu
yeah they played a rhythm game back then /s
@@VividSky LMAOOO nah fr, now it's just hitting 1,2s and call it a day
270 UR
Beast: that is shit
My ass with 280UR most of the time
when you try your best...
I might be wrong but I think a 100 is a katsu if it's your first 100 on a combo section, like if you 3x100 a burst then the first 100 is a katsu and the others are not because it is still part of the same combo
I've read about that recently, katsu is 300 hit if you hit a combo with 100% accuracy. Then there is the other one but I can't remember its name. It can be 300 or 100 but only if you get no 50's or misses on a combo. Katsus and the others give you HP gain.
It is what I read on official osu! website but I'm still not sure if it is completely true.
*Each of these are the last circles/sliders on a combo.
I'd assume Ming's plays would be one example of very low unstable rates but low accuracy.
yes, also he doesn't change his local or universal offset
Or: how constant you can keep the same ms hit time average.
he actually explained basic physics better than my teacher btw
That‘s not physics dude
@@Apfelsine78 he meant in another stream, nobody is brain dead enough to thing osu UR is physics.....
ngl he explained it better that any other guide or even official wiki wtf
9:57 no? Actually do touch the universal offset, in some cases it frkjng help a lot. I don't why btmc says like that
Especially you're on low end PC, or anything that can't handle osu! properly, or if your setup(keyboard, mouse) has really really bad response rate, or bad monitor refresh rate etc.
Use the frking offset.
Finally beasts gameplay looks like mine
tldw: standard deviation of hit errors in milliseconds multiplied by 10
5head mode
PogU Ed thank you so much
Bad players play incorrectly, good players know how to play correctly, great players know how to do both.
I'm still waiting for the osu!textbook
I will publish it when I will get #1 global in 2023
I once had a UR of 5 and it was on a map with only 2 notes, both of them were fucking 50s
lol
one time i got 0 ur on a 3 note map :D
I was almost in the video, there was a question about OD before this.
How do you make it so u can see UR when your playing like in your stream
Actually, "accuracy" is how close you are to a certain value, and "precision" is how close you are to yourself/your own value. He's got them backwards, but still good explanation.
but thats literally the same explanation he gave?
@@khamaellol6260 Nope, when he first tried to define them, the definitions were backwards. Strangely though, throughout the explanation he switched to the actual definitions.
Beastroll Sensei
should've just opened up a ming play for that last part
Ming3012 is an example of bad acc but great UR
How do you have a live UR counter?
the more you know by BTMC
it says "how precise you are"
more technically "its a standard deviation of how much you missed a given note compared to how much you are missing on average multiplyed by 10"
so you calculate it something like this
mean = by how much you miss a note on average
std_dev = sqrt of average "by how much you missed a given note compared to mean" ^ 2
so it measures how precise you are, not how accurate... that is determined by accuracy (duh.. :D)
where can i get that Unstable Rate calculator?
i've been interested in getting it as well, haven't found it yet, if i do, i'll tell you(but i think it is the same as the pp calculator(something you would only see in obs, and not in the game))
Dennisddt 👌
You can get it from StreamCompanion live tokens by adding a text +sc source on obs. (Which you can get by adding a plugin to obs)
Veltlion thx
this is gold
My unstable rate is normally above 285, it's been a few months and i still can't improve it.
I think it's because i have been playing 5/6 star maps with AP as an 800k so my tapping just broke, atleast i can FC some 6/7 stars with relax smh.
Hey, how is it going... i'm rn at your exact problem... I passed a 10 star map with RX
@@Klevsify Rn I'm a low 5 digit and best advice I can give you is drop RX entirely, start playing the game normally, all of that "I just need to practice my tapping" is bs since it's unbelievably easy to hit stuff with RX.
Just go ahead and look at your RX replays, you're not accurately aiming anything, even if it seems or feels like you are. This is coming from someone who couldn't pass 6 star maps NM but could FC 8-9 stars with RX at 6 digit.
He just used a synonym for accuracy and people already think he explained it well? :D
It's not the same as accuracy. He pointed out that there is accuracy and precision; both of which are regarded to be different from one another.
This is bad UR:200
Me with 720 UR.
Ok Im changing from clicking my mouse while moving it to pressing z&x and my left arm is dying
lol tsukinami thumbnail??
why not :)
beast is actual 5Head
Is there a official record? I just got 52,82 and back in the day when I actually played actively WWW had 54 or something.
Has BTMC reacted to Aetrna Daisuki, Evolution +DT yet?
So does this mean UR is measured on how much the small triangle moves?
Yes
@@gustavowr9367 no its not
it's not measured by that, but you can use that as a guiding point of reference yeah
How does he have numbers and I dont
Now I need someone to explain what the hell does OD do?
It basically tightens the UR bar
It does a few things. most importantly it controls the size of the hit windows, but also how many turns spinners need to 300 them, and I think it's a factor in how much HP is returned when you hit something
The question what's an universal offset killed me with an big laugher ^w^
Ahh~ I love rythm games and you guys?
Where can I get that plugin for osu!?
anyone know how I can get a live UR counter?
You can use StreamCompanion
