Oh I like the tassel idea. We reitred to a small town and Ive been given a lot of materials when the town realized I sew. I mostly clothing sew, upcycle. But was given quilting type fabrics, jelly rolls, fabrics too small to do much with and also too vintage for some projects. But I sew fast, why I dont quilt but do borrow some methods. My mother taught me to make wool tassles when little for her knit and crochet projects. I can see the tassel made with the top gathers and the beads be an angel head! Several ways to do that. Im typing while watching. So thats one down for scrap busting on the first idea! I have to look at rest. Follow you and your friend!
Wow, you must make some beautiful things. Sounds wonderful 😊 Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to comment, I truly appreciate it. Have a wonderful crafty week 💖🤗
I love ALL of these! This is the video I was hunting! I had seen the house ornament while looking through some videos to watch, and then couldn’t find it when I went back through them. So happy that it popped up today and it looks adorable and fun to make !! The mushrooms and fabric covered ornaments are adorable too!❤🍄🟫🍄
I have such a huge fabric stash that I put 4 hanging rods in a closet in my basement. 2 bars on each side. I hang my larger fabric in hangers. Then on the wall outside of the closet, I hung 2 of those brackets that go in closets. I used child hangers for smaller fabrics. Then my coordinated scraps are in Ziploc bags & hung on hangers with clothes pins. I got tired of digging through tubs to find fabrics for crafting & quilting
That is an amazing idea!!! I really need to organize all of my arts, crafts, sewing, knit and crochet , etc supplies!!! Its such a jumbled mess and it really is uninspiring!!! By the time I'm half way through gathering my ingredients, I'm no longer in the mood!!! Its just so frustrating!!! Happy Holidays to you and yours!!! 🍃🤗🍃
I thrifted two antique dressers for my fabric storage. They are separated by weight of fabric, light in one dresser and heavy in the other. Tiny scraps are in decorative baskets on top of the dressers, same with lace and ribbons
These are all beautiful, striking, and yet easy, with the exception of the house, perhaps. Love the fabric tassle and the decoupage on the plastic ornaments. The mushroom is clever, but not Christmas to me. Would be a nice Fall ornament though, or part of a swag for Fall. My fabric is sorted by color and season with scraps on top and larger pieces on bottom so I definitely have a lot to learn about good fabric organization!😄 The suitcase looks like a great method, but with me, out of sight is out of mind, so I would need a clear container. I have saved this video to my favorites. Thank you for sharing!
Thank you kindly Pam!! I am happy you enjoyed. Great ideas on how to sort your fabric/scraps 😉 The mushrooms is a European tradition and is trending this year with the Woodland/Nature theme. They would definitely work for fall as well 🤗 Thanks for watching. Take care 💖
My son would love the mushrooms. I think I'll surprise him with some. I absolutely love the tassel, the quilt ornament, and the fabric house ornament. Such an awesome job on then all. Take care and God Bless y'all always
The mushroom are so fun 😄🍄 I want to make bigger ones for the table 🤗 I am so glad you enjoyed Lisa. Thanks for watching and supporting as always 😃 Take care. Happy crafting 💖
Love mushrooms most, however the decoupage balls are the ones I could start today from my quilting fabric scraps that are too small for anything else, repurposing existing ornaments of course!
For my sewing supplies, I have several old suitcases and put a little label near the handle. I also bought an old cedar chest for $5. I painted it really cute and have fabric inside. 🌺❤🌺
Ooo, I have a cedar chest my Dad made that I haven't used yet!! Now you have me thinking 🤔 😉 Thanks for sharing your ideas!! Thanks for watching. Take care Iris 💖
@@creartivebynature I bought mine at a moving sale, it was a mess, but totally cute and functional now. I know you will enjoy yours because it's a family piece. 🌺❤🌺
For smaller scraps I cut to 1.5 in X 2.5 in. I separate light from dark. Instead of using leaders and trailers for my projects, I grab 1 light and 1 dark scrap. sew the 2.5 side and now I have a 2.5X 2.5 square. When you have enough, it makes a very cool quilt.
I love to use old wood picnic baskets (Longaberger) and I display/sit them on a long ottoman in my living room. I made homespun fabric frayed scrunchy garters to put round the baskets. ❤
Hello. Thank you for your tutorial. I immediately got into a Christmas feel with your video, your items and your lovely music. I like your style, your calm voice and clear instructions. Thank you from Canada 💘 I will follow your channel...
I Love scraps, but I have to see them. I bought the see through shoe boxes at the Dollar tree, for my small scraps. I also save tid bits, cause I make new fabric with them. My large pieces of fabric, I use old filing cabinets, the older the better cause they are deeper and you can get them pretty cheap. I use the hanging file folder hangers (I use 2 metal file folder hangers per bag, I tape the metal pieces together)and I make coordinating color bags for them, with a boxed bottom.
What would be neat on the balls with different fabrics. Either use thread or a black fabric pen and do stitching around each piece before putting on the ball. It would look like u quilted it.
Love the house! I teach hand sewing for small humans. We're making a sustainable gift tag. A smaller version of your house. Now I have the idea of how to make a larger advanced project for sewing class. Thank you! oh, no hot glue, only stitching in class. And my tree came out a lot different! A variation on a theme!
I simply love my fabric scraps, sometimes hard to use some of them as they are so pretty. I store my small scraps in gift boxes. Fold them up neatly into a basic neat square, and place them side by side into the box. So when I open up the lid, there they are all in a row like in fact a row of books. I do not worry too much on color grouping, but types of fabric being together. Of course my Christmas fabrics are in their own box. And the bigger pieces folded up and on a shelf.
Hi. Loved your fabric scrap crafts! I also have a ton of fabric scraps and fabric. I also use the ziplock baggy system and make sure all the air is out to fit them! I store them in a tote but put my favorite fabrics in their baggies in a hanging shoe storage that hangs in my closet. There 6-8 shoe box-sized openings and my favorites are easily seen and not forgotten!
Oh my goodness what lovely ornaments. You've got me thinking about which one I want to make first!!! The mushrooms are absolutely adorable and I think I have a bunch of Styrofoam balls. Down to the basement I go to check! LOL. I keep all my small scrap fabrics in a bin on my desk. I love to rifle through them when I need a little piece. There's something therapeutic in riffling through bits whether it's paper or fabric. Thank you so much for the shout out. I love how your tassel ornament came out. Blessings to you always sweet friend, Helen
Aw, thanks Helen 😊 You really inspired me 🤗 You make a point about rifling through the scraps, never thought of it that way!! Thanks for watching my friend. Take care 💖 🙂
Donna, I absolutely love the Christmas tree on your little house, the tassel, and the covered ornaments! Oh, my, I can hardly wait to dig into my fabric stash! Thank you for the how-to and the inspiration.
@@creartivebynature neither did I think that way but it just happens, same as your stash just happens. I store mine in a chest of drawers and a couple of washing baskets in an old free standing cupboard.
Really adorable ornaments!! I love the idea of using scraps to make beautiful things. Being a quilter I hope you don’t mind if I tell you the stuff inside your house ornament is called batting. The backing would be the light colored fabric on the back. Thank you for sharing your imagination and creativity.
Lol, I know it's batting 😄, the word left me while I was doing the voice over 🤣 🤪 it's so funny how many have mentioned it 😆 I was seriously lost for words and backing is what popped into my mind🤷♀️ 🤗 I appreciate you correcting me 😊 Thank you so much for watching, have a wonderful Christmas season ❤️
Good morning, Donna! I have loads of fabric scraps! I love your ideas for organizing yours. I will have to try that way. Currently, mine are stuffed in a canvas bag hanging in a closet, lol. Your ornaments are simply enchanting, especially the mushrooms and the little house. Thank you for sharing & inspiring. 🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄

I loved all the Christmas ornaments, the sewing of the house was intriguing and i thought a button would look nice on the door and you read my mind and topped that door with a button.
Since I sew for clothing and remake things like mens shirts into aprons my scraps tend to be by subject. I use like those zipper clear bedding bags to hold items by category. A few are wired so like a box but my sewing room is set up with shelving so I store those in letter sized office boxes. So like all doilies and types similar are in one box. Lace scraps, ornamental appliques Ive bought or cut off ugly tshirts are together. All plaid and similar are together. When I was making masks I broke down those scraps into 100% cottons. I upcycle polyester into trims, ruggles etc. So a box is labled voiles. Same with sweater scraps. I recovered boxes I cut down for our remodeled bathroom and reusing the wood cabinet had me requesting 2 cubbies on the side. My method is no glue, one seam, and that extra bottom flap when you fold banker boxes together is cut to hold the square-ish pillow case shape inside plus cardboard is protection. I plan on covering all my sewing boxews in same way with drop cloth. I started a sewing blog but not updated in long time. I shoud upload some pics or videos to my youtube!
