I DID click on 'Like' and also subscribed.
Thanks for this informative real live test! Love it! I just ordered a Z6ii with this lens and FTZ. It's my going back to Nikon setup after 1,5 years of Fuji gear which I also like.
Congratulations. Have fun with that beast of a camera. Like you I shooting Fuji 4 years ago. Had the X-Pro1, Xt2 and Xt3. Had all the XF lenses , 10-24,18-55, 56, 35, 23, 90, 16mm, 1.4, amazing lenses btw, sharp. colors were amazing. I felt like for my needs and work I was missing some DOF. Crop sensors are great but they can only go so far, waned a mirrorless but a Full Frame mirrorless. That being said. Fujifilm X series cameras have their purpose and are KING when it comes to APS-C miroorless and who knows maybe I buy some back as a side camera. I own an X100T though, love that little guy. have fun with your purchase and take rockin pictures DRdehaan
@@Vahagraphy Thanks for your comment and totally agree on it! I still have an XT20 with 18-55 and the 55-200. It will stay with me as wonderful little aps-c camera. Take good care and stay healthy and keep up the good work!
I love my z6 and 24-70mm f4 it's super sharp and distortion free, because of the wide z mount 😀 I can't afford or need the big heavy f2.8s. F4 is enough with these modern sensors, for example i set my iso to auto between 100 to 8000 iso and it's fantastic. I wish i could have had that range in the film days... were so lucky today. My lens setup at the moment is 14-30mm f4 24-70mm f4 50mm 1.8 and 70-300mm f4.5 to 5.6 g lens all costing less than the 70-200 f2.8 by itself. It does everything i need and more. Great video by the way 👏.
Thank you Nigel8uk. Glad you liked the video. How to you like the 50 1.8Z? Heard that lens is amazing. Someone commented saying its as sharp as Zeiss optics. What is your take on that lens? That's probably my next Z lens to buy. I would love to get my hands on the 70-200 f2.8 aswell. Yes its very expensive but heard its the Ferrari of 70-200 lenses.
@@Vahagraphy in my opinion it's the best 50mm ever made for two reasons 1, the design of the standard lens has been around 70 years with Nikon. So they know what they're doing for sure 👍 2, saying that the redesign of the Nikon mount to a 55mm diameter has really helped. If you look at the back of the lens all of the light gathering is in straight lines that's why its so sharp edge to edge wide open. 👍l was lucky to get the lens for £350 in the uk on sale. A good video lens and great for portraits. Only minus is minimum focus isn't very good for a 50mm?
@@nigel8uk Nice Nice, Min focus for a 50 shouldn't be a deal breaker for me. Yes thats on my Z lens radar for sure. thats a good price. specially when the 50 1.2 is launched. I wonder how the 50 1.2 fairs against the 1.8. Ahh yes its 4 times the price, is it 4x the lens? hehe. is it sharp at 1.2? I wonder if its worth the 1500 upgrade.
they impress me very much. For example, .didn't think much about the 24-70 f4 S kit lens before. But now that I use it., its an amazing 24-70. i love it.
Thank you for the nice review. I have the Z6II and the 24-70mm F2.8. The lens is front-heavy compared to the light camera. It is not like having the F2.8 G lens on the heavy D850. At least there's a balance. I'm considering the F4 S for the Z6II because it is lighter, and for daylight photography, it should do a great job. Thanks again for the sample images and video.
Your very welcome Ron. Glad I can help with this review. Yes I love the f4 S for the reason it is light and kind of compact. Very sharp and does the job.
Ive had in my mind to get that f4 lens for my z8, I have used the 2.8G for years and I've used it to the extreme, but always felt it was leaning towards a soft side I find a bit annoying, not a nice soft, but an imperfect soft... the f4 seems more contrasty and all round better lens, just the G version being a stop faster, but with the z stabilisation is not that big of a deal... ill start looking for one. thanks for the comparison, it was spot on, exactly the two lenses I needed side by side!
Good video! I am looking at the lenses and the camera bodies I have. This has been over 10 years of accumulating the gear that I use. Some lenses more then others. I am now retired and nearing 70 years young. I have 6 "D" lenses. The 85mm 1.4 is my best but the 80-200mm f/2.8 is also super nice. I have 4 "G" lenses that I could use with the adapter on a z6 or z7 body. The 24-70mm f/2.8 the 14-24mm f/2.8 that I hardly use, the 16-35mm f/4 and the 70-300mm f/4. I also have the Tamron 150-600 for birding. Using the Nikon d810 and d4s bodies. I am debating to get kicked in the butt for selling all and trading for a Sony or Nikon Mirrorless system with fewer lenses but with VR and IBS or keep the G lenses I have and sell one of the Nikon bodies and trade for a Z6 or Z7. Maybe keep all I have and use a tripod more often. Lighter and smarter is nice but so too is old and trust worthy. After a week in my home state of Wyoming recently and using my camera gear I really felt the weight. Maybe mirrorless, maybe not.
This is a very important decision you will make. I suggest sitting down and figuring out what is most important to you. I suggest renting a mirrorless for a few days and see if you like it. if renting is not an option, then maybe buy one with the ability to return it if anything, I would buy it and use it before selling the older lenses. good luck in whatever you decide Chester and Rock n Roll!!
@@Vahagraphy Cool info. I did look at a Nikon Z6 and a Sony a7iii this morning. Both are very fine cameras. However, the buttons are too small the EVF almost made me dizzy. Yea my cameras are larger and heavier but I am not so old or weak that I can not man handle my gear. My trip to Wyoming was super and so was the pictures I took. You are so right and by all means Rock and Roll even to the 60's tunes!
Nice review. Bought this lens second hand. Works well apart a/m switch which is not functional(doesn't do any). Have you experienced this or I have faulty lens?
Yes this might be a problem. When you switch from A to M does it change anyting on the LCD display? It should change from AF-F to M right on the display. Check the switch. Make sure there is no dust. Sometimes its good to play with the switch a little. You might have to get that fixed. I've never had a problem with the switch. Good luck with that Milorad.
@@Vahagraphy No change on display. Luckily can use af/mf in cam to overcome this problem. This feature is important for me especially when doing timelapses, and this lens is perfect for it.
I just purchased Z7 with 24-70mm F4. I have been using Sony A7iii as a main camera and I am genuinely happy to add Z7 with this lens. This lens f4 image quality is way better than Sony 50mm 1.8. Almost the same as 85mm 1.8. Because of this lens I started loving taking pictures with f4. I used to prefer f1.2 or f1.4 with Canon or Sony but this lens really changed my f stop preferences. Next I would like to add 24mm-120mm f4.
