Not a lot of people know that DG wrote this when TH was recovering from an overdose years and years ago. Today, having known of Taylor's passing, listening to this just hits so much harder. A truly sad day, where I carry a heavy heart. Rest easy, legend 🖤
He overdosed on heroin in 2001 wich left him in a coma for 2 weeks. Dave was by him side all the time. I can't even imagine how devasted he is right now. This song of loyalty sounded with sadness for me today. I wish peace for Taylor and STRENGHT for Dave, with all my heart.

It’s so heart breaking that Taylor lost his battle with addiction. RIP Taylor along with all the others that have lost their battle to addiction. We know Taylor’s story I hope others who are battling will reach out for help . Maybe the lose of Taylor can help others in some way . We need to make changes in our society to help people get clean and prevent ours from falling into this path of destruction.

This is a song Dave wrote for Taylor when he almost died. They were soulmates, twins... When one had short hair, the other had too. When long, both. When beard or shaved, too. I can´t imagine what´s Dave going through right now. Part of him just died forever. Maybe Taylor is free now. Who knows what awaits us after... It´s always harder for those who stay though.
Taylor was always symbol of fullfiled dreams for me. If you imagine that kid growing up, worshipping his favourite bands. And every one of those dreams came true. He played with everybody.
Hope he´s living his biggest dream right now. Forever.

Hearing the story behind this song, I know Dave says it's "about Taylor" but I really think it's about how Dave himself was "On The Mend, My Friend" after hearing that Taylor would recover when he was in that coma. It shows what they mean to eachother, what the whole band mean to each other in the Foo Family and what the band means to us, their fans. Music won't be the same for me again. RIP Taylor
I’m in shock, the world looses another legend. Travis can never be replaced. This has been a major hit to the Foo Fighter’s. Hoping they can recover from such a serious blow..RIP Travis. The world already misses you.

On the Mend was always a beautiful song, but this live version is simply gorgeous. I found this version while I was on the recovery from something that nearly destroyed me, and it was apropos that I send it and its first verse and chorus to a friend who came running worried.

A month later and I can’t watch this without crying. Dave is really physically moving while playing this and I have to think he’s trying not to become emotional. This song means so much and always will.

I heard this song for the first time today. Yeah, it's the first time I've ever found this song in my life. About 15 years late. No matter how long it's been, I could tell right away what this song was about. He is anxious for the recovery of his beloved friend. I'm glad Dave got his friend back and was able to play this song with him. They're still making music together and I'm glad I can hear it in this far country.

The entire show is indescribable, but this song seems to resonate with so many fans. We love TH too!! He's fkn amazing. The fans are thankful for better days for him. I love this song so much. I love how much Dave loves his friend. I am so thankful that I can finally see and hear FF. DAMN I'VE MISSED A LOT!

Songs about Taylor in a coma. Really sucks guy was such a good dude . My 7yo twins first concert and they play drums like dad . I wish they could have seen them this summer. They need time to heal I hope they return with Roger Taylor’s son . Or have Roger and Brian come out for a couple songs then introduce his son . Mike portnoy or Travis barker . No replacement because they were best buds .

I'm still here, crying, hanging around the comments on these videos... But I decided to do something today that I should have done a long time ago but kept putting it off. I got an electric guitar which for some reason has never worked with any amp or lead I've tried, I can't play, I tried teaching myself acoustic but it was too hard on my hands, so... I'm getting it repaired and I'm going to learn. I taught myself how to play Smells Like Teen Spirit on my daughters ukulele today and really enjoyed it. Life's too damn short to keep putting stuff off. I play piano, but guitar and drums are my jam, I could steal my dads drum kit but I don't think my neighbours would be too happy so the guitar it is. If it's not fixable I've already chosen which one I'm going to buy. I'll come back to this comment in six months. That's how long I'm giving myself to learn the basics.
I'm 54 years old, and did exactly wha you said, about 5 years ago .... I've allways like music, but only listening, now I´'m learning to play guitar and drums, and sing. It changed my life ...... I was there in the last Foo Fighters show in Buenos Aires, and next day I bougth an electroacustic guitar .... and five days later Taylor passed away.... I'm still sad, but I decided to learn this song, and Everlong acoustic version. Perhaps I'll too come back to your comment in six months.
@@maricciar OK so I got TWO new guitars, both Yamaha Pacifica's, ones a 112V and the other a 120H, I've played every single day since I left the comment above and I've also began lessons, so far I can play quite a few bits and pieces of different songs but I've learned to play this pretty much in full. I'm still hanging around these comments sections, still heartbroken, still with tears, but every time I pick up a guitar I think of Taylor and the Foo's. How are you getting on? Have you been learning?
Im having a really hard time with Taylor's passing, the fact that his heart was so enlarged, that the Foo Family will never be the same without Tay. I cant possibly imagine how Dave is doing. I found out when i was in the hospital for a month & a half. Thank God i could listen to my music. I keep saying Im gutted. I am. Theres just so, so much more. But thats enough. We, I, miss you SO badly Taylor, my son is named Taylor & I m as prpud of you as i am of my Tay. RIP you beautiful earthling.
