This house was used for the original 3 movies. It was moved immediately after filming exteriors for Amityville 3D, in order for the owner to build a house for his daughter on the property.. If you look closely, theres a scene in Amityville 3D where Tony Roberts and his daughter Lori Loughlin pull up to the house, the top windows on the street side are square, and not quarter moon shaped. They were rushed for exterior shots so they didnt go all out like in the previous 2 films. Thanks again Grimmlife! Happy Halloween!🎃
I don't blame the town of Amityville for being so restrictive and unwelcoming. Not all visitors are as responsible and respectful as Michael & Jessica. I knew someone who proudly displayed a shingle from the original house that they needed to trespass and damage someone's home in order to obtain. Thank you Michael & Jessica for always being passionate, professional and informative.
It’s not really the town that’s an issue, it’s the owners of the house, which has only changed owners maybe 3 times since the Lutz’s lived there. Which, I obviously understand. There is a very tall, iron gate surrounding the home. Less likely for people to attempt to walk up. Usually the driveway is open though. It’s a fantastic block with gorgeous houses on it. I love going garage sale-ing there. I’ve lived maybe 8min from it most of my life ;)
@@erinaustin2157 Hi, fellow LIer. I'm a 10 minute drive from the house, too. Yeah, sometimes people forget it's a private house in a bit of an uppity neighborhood. Beautiful part of town.
I love what you guys do, I love the passion, the research, the positivity, the respect and the love you have for each other. You guys are doing great work, keep it up!
We had a family gathering yesterday and I put y'all on our TV. We watched your channel for 3 hours. I was the only one that watched until yesterday. Now all of my children are watching. Thanks for sharing.
As someone who grew up in the area, it’s so cool seeing you guys documenting so many areas I’ve visited on so many occasions. I remember how big a deal it was as a little kid that they had filmed in TR, and every time I drove by the area I constantly thought about that house and would be on the lookout for it. There were stories about the homeowners calling the cops because of people showing up at the house in the middle of the night wanting a tour, and just wandering through their yard lol. It’s awesome that one of the great classics of horror was filmed in my neck of the woods! Thanks for the great retrospective!
Watching your videos is like going out for coffee & conversation with an old, trusted friend. I leave with a nice warm fuzzy feeling inside & my mood is elevated & content ❤ Thank you 😊
Oh so people there should just let anyone come up and stare and invade their privacy ?? Hey all you drunk kids come to our block !!! SIlly nonsense. Sorry they are not there for your viewing pleasure. I THINK WE CAN UNDERSTAND THEIR POINT OF VIEW. BY THE WAY, A FAMILY DIED THERE.
“In denial” lol Or just not wanting over zealous true crime nerds constantly harassing people? But you type “y’all” so we can’t take your comment too serious.
I don't think they're in denial. I DO think they're crazy for not cashing in on the hype. Same thing with JAWS. If I ever hit the Powerball or megaball I'm gonna buy that house. It's literally my dream house.
I was born and raised in Tom River and I remember when they moved the house. At night after high school games we’d ride by there and it look soo spooky. Great episode and since I now live in Florida on the gulf coast and I grew up on the Jersey shore it’s nice to see a piece of home ❤❤❤
While watching the movie, back in the day, i was surrounded by its horror. Now that you two show the filming locations, i do notice and appreciate how absolutely beautiful they are. Thank you so much for revisiting and sharing these locations. Bringing back the absolute horror of the two stories: the DeFeo and the Lutz families.
Youre the man. That movie to this day freaks me out. Especially part 2 the Possession. Did anyone ever give you crap for filming outside? I hear the residents there get really mad at viewers. Excellent job. Thank you!!
Toms River was a good fill in for Amityville. Even though it's technically the Jersey shore area, it sure has that south shore of Long Island feel to it and the location scouts did a good job of picking some great areas to film in. Thanks Michael and Jessica for another excellent Grimm adventure!
Thank you for this. I am only a couple of minutes into this and it looks like this is going to be a really good learning experience. That Tom's River New Jersey is where one of the guys from Skid Row are from. So many of us are glad people like you take the time to put together a production like this which is not just entertaining, this is educational.
I'm a huge horror fan in my sixties and I have so much admiration and respect for you young couple, to find all these awesome locations, and the due-diligence you put in is amazing, not to mention your enthusiasm! Keep up the great work!
I live in NJ not far from Pt. Pleasant and Toms River, I had no idea so much of the movie was filmed in those locations. Also as a Catholic I deeply appreciate your respect when filming in a Church. Well done!
Very nice! I lived not too far from this location during the production of the 1st three films. Visiting the sets, the owners allowed me on the property while the production crew wasn't there so I could take photos etc. Memories I'll cherish forever. Watching this video just brings it all back. Thank you
I was 10 years old when I saw this and was terrified lol at the age of 13 I had seen The Exorcist, Jaws, Amityville horror, Friday the 13th and my favorite Halloween, oh fun fact the mask used for Micheal Myer’s face was actually William Shatner from StarTrack painted all white, so I knew I was destined to be a creature feature film lover. I still get scared watching them, that’s how you know it’s a CLASSIC 40 years later!
Love the video Michael and Jessica! I Love the way how you compare the movie clips and the actual real locale! Awesome!👍👍👍Can't wait to see your next video! Happy Halloween! 🎃
You guys are awesome I love the hard work you put into recreating the scenes that are from the movies and the real history of these places. And the way that you all tell these stories it just draws you into where you just want to watch and learn more. Well until next time Happy Halloween.
Superb! You certainly put some work into your filming location videos, so full of information and a real pleasure to see. Congratulations on another gem!
I was raised on Long Island and know the house well. Also remember the DeFeo murders in the 70's. I remember many nights, a bunch of us, after getting out of the clubs would drive ourselves over to that crazy house in Amityville just to scare the heck out of ourselves! Many nights we drove up and down that block staring at that house that gave us creepy chills. I can imagine it is really annoying for those in Amityville, especially on that street because people are always driving over there to check out the house and have been for so many years now.
So cool how they moved the house sideways! To be honest, you don’t see many houses with the front of the house perpendicular to the road it’s on…so they did a pretty good job choosing a house with a likeness to the Amityville house
Great video. I grew up in Toms River and watched the filming in the Fall of 1978. I was a senior in high school. It was THE most boring tedious process! We kept laughing & making fun of things, being stupid teens. Lots of us stoned teens in the audience, lol. James Brolin had a scene where all he had to do was leave the library and walk down steps. 15 takes later! We were cracking up. He was so uncoordinated. FYI, that Ocean County Library you showed was added to the old church in the '80s. The original library, shown in movie, was a much smaller bldg. It's still there, up the road, but used for other purposes. Overall, the production team/actors treated locals as South Jersey hicks. The directors & crew were also very frustrated with us rowdy townsfolk watching the filming. They kept yelling at us to settle down, etc. I had fond memories watching the filming, so it's quite hard to watch the film and take it seriously. It never scared us, just reminded us of the fun times we had behind the cameras.
This was awesome. I never knew they even filmed in toms River I thought it was all in Amityville thank you for the fantastic video and information. Keep them calm and Michael and Jessica.
It would be neat seeing the 2005 amityville horror illinois and wisconsin locations. I absolutely love your video's I enjoy seeing the locations of a lot of movies that I watched growing up
I used to live in Browns Mills, NJ, and going down Route 70 takes you to Ocean County. I’ve spent a lot of time in Toms River, but I’ve never stopped to look at the house. Haven’t been there in years now.
Not unusua😢l really.. 50's thru the 80's slot of house and some businesses as well.. original Halloween Movie house was moved several blocks from original location.. GrimmLife Collective has several Video on Michael Myers house
@@TyhlerNovac Interesting! Thanks for the info! I have never watched the Halloween movies (I knowwww... haha) so I haven't watched any videos on it, but I will check it out. I guess I just think of houses with basements (I'm from the Midwest) so moving them seems incredibly difficult to me.
Hi Michael and Jessica! Last night was my first grimm life collective live and it was awesome. I am watching your video right now. Would you guys ever visit the villisca axe murder house in villisca Iowa? Love your videos and channel. You guys are awesome. Love you guys.

Dude you summed up my feelings of Ammityville 2 in a nutshell. I didn't realize it until you laid it out here that everytime I watch the film, I loose interest after the family is killed. The film is soooo gripping and scary up to that point. All the family drama with the abusive dad and the complicated relationship between the older two kids. The sequences with the murder is so intense and scary and it breaks my heart seeing Dianne Franklin's character being killed because I had a huge crush on her as a kid growing up from her role in The last American Virgin.
I remember when I first watched this movie. Excellent movie! It scared the heck out of me. Thank you , both of you! Great video showing us the filming locations of this movie!
My parents lived in Point Pleasant Beach when they were filming the church scenes at St. Peter's. There was also a publicity stunt where American International were looking for a mass of extras for a 'parade' scene, which I can recall never amounted to much. I still have the rejection notice from the company that I was not needed, lol.
I really enjoy your videos, thanks for making them! I don’t get how that is the right house though, the shape of the roof is way different and there are no dormer windows. Did they add all of that on?!
Amityville is again a most beautiful house, with a past. I love the older movies and seeing the filming locations. The church is magnificent and the fact that the Lutz family, were good, practicing members of their faith. This helps build the tension, of this respected family being torn apart by evil. That filming house your showing can’t be the same, the roof is different !
@@mozer1713It looks like it needs a new roof. The movie co. added the dormer windows in o the third flr. to match the real house.
