If it's cold you need to cycle the glow plugs a few times and it will normally start just fine. The starter does help and you can rewire the plugs to get more energy. My brother in-law had one and as he said it, the biggest mistake he made was selling it.

They are great. They are the best idea that MTD had. Everyone followed them a few years later.

Screw the 882, I want one of these! What a beast of a tractor, I'm very jealous. The previous owner sure put some money into it. Thanks for the pointers with the aluminum trans case. I knew they were notorious for breaking on the Supers but not the regular 782D/882/1512 as well.

The 882 is a great tractor as well. I like my 782D a lot also. I think its the bigger tires on the super that give it a larger tractor look. Just check and make sure the bolts are tight. I think they had more issues on the supers due to larger tires and the 3 point hitch putting on more strain.

@@steiger256 I believe the axle tubes were known to crack as well.

@@MichaelTJD60 I was mot aware of that. I imagin if i ever have problems ill swap it out with a cast iron out of a 982

@@steiger256 That's eventually what I'd like to do with my 882. Was also going to do it in my 782 but I'm afraid the cast iron rear and future rear PTO upgrade would make the front end too light.

@@MichaelTJD60 The best sutup is the aluminum body fine spline axles put into a cast iron rear end. Honestly tho, im sure the aluminun is fine unless you really abuse it.

I just bought a cub 1772 a 1989 model with the kubota diesel in it. It has 200 original hours and everything works! I gave $850 for it

200 hr machine for 850.00 is a steal. The 1772 was only made 1 year, 89. You got a deal. Does it have a 3 point or rear pto?

I just sold my cub super garden tractor. It was a 1996 model an it was the 1782 model with the Kubota d640 17 horse diesel. Was a good tractor

What a beast. Sweet find. That machine would do great with a 450/451 snowblower.

Nice find especially with the upgrades! I'm surprised the PO with changing out the rear axle housing didn't install the rear end brace kit from Xtreme Mfg?
I have them on 3 of my Supers and 1 on a GT that I heavily use. Let me tell you that they really work and are worth every penny!
Your thinking about pulling an extra plow, put a brace kit on it then you can pull whatever you hook to, worry free!
    Once again, nice tractor!

I have been thinking of getting a set of them braces. Probably be a good idea when I put a plow on it. So far its my favorite Cub. Thanks

I know extreme motor works makes braces for these. I do plan on eventually adding them to this once I start using it with a plow.

Steiger where do you buy your tractors from?

    • @steiger256
      @steiger256  3 года назад

Pretty much everywhere. I go to lots of tractor shows and just talk to people and ask around. Some of Craigslist, Facebook marketplace. I have been collecting for years.
