mine also was snug. hubby said to try some soap on it. I am wondering if I should keep it or not. If I do then I will try the soap trick☺ Thank you for your video.
I personally appreciated the 'snugness' of the two mat pieces because once they were together, it created a practically seamless mat to work with. I hope yours isn't snug to the point where they feel impossible to fit together! I would definitely try the soap trick then! Thank you for watching my video! I appreciate your viewing!
you misunderstood the tightness you mentioned was the actual plastic arms that can be changed to a level for wall arrangements. I was afraid to pull and tug at them....I didn't want to crack them.😀
+Mrs. Jane Fettig oh yes! That tightness. I apologize. Honestly, I still haven't tried to detach the two pieces together yet. But I haven't used it for wall arrangements (yet!) so I've been ok with how it's currently set up. I'm afraid to crack it too!
Whats crazy about this product is, this is aimed at a very specific market - but I have been looking all over for a set-square or combination square with laser and couldn't find one till I found this. I was looking for something that would provide a laser beam at 90* to the straight edge. Everything else is obsessed with hanging pictures, DIY, etc. Nothing gave me a beam 90* from an edge. I need a laser line from the edge of sheet metal so that I can extend a centre-line for mounting. This looks great, would be even nicer if they made a heavy duty one for other types of working.
Wonderful review, Rachel! Very thorough, and I loved seeing your first impressions. I'm still a bit on the fence, but leaning towards getting it. Thank you! :)
The first time I separated it was not super easy but after the first time it was much easier but not too easy. Do you still use it?? I just bought one off of Craigslist super crazy cheap.
I honestly rarely use it. And when I do use it, I only use on laser and half of the board. I use if for calligraphy and when the laser light bounces off my nib, it gets in my eyes and gives me a headache. I've started just using a lightbox with lined paper underneath when it's possible before I attempt using the laser ruler. Hope that helps!
It does help. I got it for 20bucks. Honestly I wasn't really sure if I would use it but once in a while. We'll see when I finish getting my studio together and start acting again. Thanks.
Love your penmanship style Saving this so I can copy and learn that style Thanks for flipping it around so the light is on the left. I may not have figured that out and been frustrated with loosing my lines.... lol I hate writing in open spaces also And I dislike erasing pencil lines cause they always show
Hello, since you have now had this a while, how often would you say you use this tool? Also, do you use it for anything other than hand lettering, if so what? Im wondering if it is good for centering designs on shirts etc. thanks great video
Hi Stephanie! Honestly, I've probably only used it about 5 times. Each time has been simply for addressing envelopes. I just finished a huge envelope addressing job using it. I don't use it when lettering items for my Etsy shop, I literally only use it for envelopes. Hindsight, I wish I purchased something a little smaller. It takes up a lot of room on my desk because it's meant for aligning scrapbook pages and such. I hope that answers your question. Please let me know if you need any clarification or any more questions. I'd love to help!
Thanks so much for doing this video! 2 questions....1) where the 2 mat pieces connect, is it hard to write over that area? I do brush lettering and concerned that the seem will mess up my writing. 2) did you even figure out the other company that makes a similar product as state in a previous comment by kmscrap? Thanks in advance :)
+JoAnne Ovenell Hi! Thanks for your questions! I also do lettering, but haven't tried it for big projects. I've only used it for envelopes, so they never extend far enough to the seams. I will try it when I get the chance and get back to you! Unfortunately I haven't had a chance to research the other company that does something similar. I have seen a tool other lettering people use with a sliding laser but I don't think they have a top laser to it.
I read a lot of reviews and many people had the same problem which is why I settled for the magnetic cutting mat instead. Way too much money to have such a major flaw.

Where can i buy this product?
You can purchase this on Amazon and other craft stores, like Michaels.
I received my laser square tool and it is not square, almost an 1/8" off on both sides. I'm not sure if I and going to keep it or not.
Oh no! Maybe you can contact We R Memory Keepers to see if they can replace it. Good luck!
I read a lot of reviews and many people had the same problem which is why I settled for the magnetic cutting mat instead. Way too much money to have such a major flaw.
Who makes a magnetic cutting mat? I think I should check that out!
I wish I had bought this on HSN last week.
I hope you get a chance to purchase it. I really like it and I hope you will too!
Good demo, but way too much unnecessary dialog. Prefer to just get to the point
Making these videos is a learning process. I'm hoping that I'm getting better with each passing video. Thank you for watching! 😊
