My husband wrote those words, Josie was his mother's best friend and would visit Delaware every summer.
He was the drummer for the Outfield for a brief time and helped write Your Love, Since You've Been Gone, and some others. He laid the bass beat of those songs.
He laid down the beat and had the words. Carl Widen was his name. They called him CW. He was a studio drummer for A&M, at the same time Outfield needed a new drummer. He went on the road with them for over 100 cities around the globe. He spent time in England and stayed with Tony.
All this was before I met him.
    The summer of 2001,
After I met him, he was flown to sit in for the Outfield's drummer who had gotten ill, he played at the Collisium. He also played and sang with them at a gig in Dewey Beach, Delaware.
He left the band after a disagreement with John over rights to his music because John claimed it, I was surprised and saddened to hear Tony not acknowledge this about Your Love

I remember the first time I heard "Your Love" back in 1986. The radio station KLOS in the Los Angeles area had "Two for Tuesdays," when they would play back-to-back songs from the same band. The song "Say It Isn't So" was getting mild airplay at the time as The Outfield's initial single from Play Deep, but then it was paired with "Your Love." This made for a magical combination that catapulted this band's popularity in Southern California and made me a lifelong fan. I have enjoyed every single album they have produced.

Tony could never bear the death of John Spinks, his great friend from youth, in 2014, and the grief was carried further. He was locked up in his house for 4 years, and when he decides to resume music his album is called "Out of the darkness", and his single "Into the light", trying to reaffirm that he has returned to the light and does not have those self-destructive thoughts or depressive. Well, his grief was stronger and he went to be part of the celestial choir with the greats who have left this year. I am a huge fan of The Outfield and I am very touched by his passing. Greetings from Chile.

One of the only songs i play at my rock n roll dive bar of 30 yrs that is just as popular w the college kids of today as it is w the money spending older crowd. tunes that are Multi generational sing alongs w a good groove are gold in my biz. This rockin but mid tempo classic is also a terrific transitional song that is great going from 80's rock into the newer pop punk genre. In the downtown bar district my bar is in i am literally playing tunes for my life w every song i choose as when i play a less than stellar tune folks simply go to one of the many other bars, nightclubs within a stones throw of my front door which makes my music choices as owner of my bar since 1990 what determine how well my family eats that week. While i was playin mpls mn songs by husker du,the replacements n soul asylum at my then underground alt rock/punk bar this song was a big hit but today it is even bigger and has aged very well (like a good bottle of bourbon)unlike so much other music from those days.
