Why must the Unicode consortium be treated this way?!?!
The Unicode consortium is a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating standardized text encodings for computing to allow any and all computers to communicate with each other without fail. They ensure that all languages are properly represented in the encodings. When Japanese was being added to the standard, they noticed that there were small emoticons that had been added by Telecom providers into their own proprietary encodings. They chose to add these to Unicode. Years later, Apple added emojis as a keyboard in iOS, giving birth to modern emoji.

Unicode didn't decide to take on emoji standardization for a few years after Apple adopted them!

He kind of explained the uncanny valley wrong so I’ll borrow an explanation from extra credits. So when something looks nothing like a human, we have no reaction. Then, when human characteristics are added, we like it. We find their human parts charming. Then you add more things. It’s not completely human like yet. Since we know how humans should look, the flaws a glaring and we often find it unsettling. This is the uncanny valley. Look up uncanny valley on google and look at some pictures, you will understand. Then, once it’s completely realistic, we are fine with it.

The Graphics Interchange Format (better known by its acronym GIF /ˈdʒɪf/ JIF or /ˈɡɪf/ GHIF)
The uncanny valley wasn't explained very well, it's not the more realistic a human representation is the more we are repulsed by it. It's a graph were the more human looking a robot or animation is the more we like it until it gets to a certain point and it just looks creepy so the graph goes down, but after that there is a point were realism increases and we like it again and the graph goes up hence the uncanny valley, or something like that IDK go and look it up.
