When we played, we were just having fun but we never knew we were making memories Edit: just purchased the Namco Museum game that includes Dragon Spirit on the PS4
This is one of the few games that got released on the NES that didn’t lose that feel, despite being inferior to the arcade version. And that soundtrack is just incredible!
I liked the NES soundtrack better. Probably bias due to having played it and not the arcade. The NES version, even on the not easy mode, is WAYYY easier
Also available on namco archives vol 1, 11 games including dragon spirit but you should know the games are the NES ports, personally I prefer the NES dragon spirit because the music and added levels and cut scenes
Damn this game is so 1988! The music takes me back to, (not only playing it every day) but the whole time period: The 8 bit NES, The Huffy Sigma, middle school, Jordan #3, popular songs of the day like Bobby Brown "Don't be cruel" and Eric B & Rakim Paid n Full, and 200 others. Remember putting your "quarter up" "Yeah i got next!"
I played this at the arcade in '87-88. Never finished but the soundtrack alone was well worth it. I never knew The Dragon's Name Amul before Tues 1-9-24. My Fave music themes are: -Valley of Spirits -Dense Forest -Deep Sea
Finished this myself a few years ago on my Pi and, while I also used invisibility, I admit I wasn't playing as carefully as you did so well done, you still dodged 80% of attacks 👏
He's good, but it also looks like he had invincibility on. There was also a lot of careless playing, mostly grabbing any orb (other than black) regardless of what it did. Giving up shrink and green dragon are bad things to do, especially for the temporary gold dragon.
Dragon Spirit is ABSOLUTELY AWESOME with 2Fast 2Furious gameplay and AMAZING graphics Wit AWESOME levels and STUNNINGLY Spectacular Boss battles This is a classic arcade game with a vengeance 💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖
I fucking LOVED the NES version of this as a kid. Played the hell out of it. I picked it up fairly early on in the PS3 life cycle as part of the Namco Arcade thingy for PS home and couldn't quite beat it. The visibility cone level (which i could have SWORE was level 5 with he moving cave walls) was always my downfall. I like that the final boss in the arcade version is the first prologue boss on NES.
lol at 10:46 i didnt even realize its a flowerthingy u can only shoot the seeds with your close aerial bomb i was shooting it for like 15 mins no results lol
Level 9 is impossible without cheats ,also this game reminds of Konami's engines,it looks like Konami game,I guess they are used the same engine, greetings from Balkans,Macedonia
Embers told me about this game. So, anyways, how you doin'? I made a Moominhouse, but LEGO didn't want it. I made a mosaic out of my cat's face though. Thanks for listening.-

Thank you for finishing the game!!! I used to walk a mile with a dollar to play this game but never was able to beat it. Glad to see the ending of it!
When we played, we were just having fun but we never knew we were making memories

Not the one on this video, but still a dragon spirit game

Really do wish this game made a return. Childhood memories!
Can't be the only one thinking of King Ghidora
It's available on Arcade1Up Pac-Man HDMI™ Game Console for $40 with a total of 10 original arcade games.
@@razorstarzz thanks for the heads up.

I played this on Nes, but never beat it with Blue
The soundtrack was freaking bad ass
Stage 2 and 4 especially
Shinji Hosoe did an awesome job composing the soundtrack, and would later compose the soundtrack for Street Fighter EX.
Wow no wonder both games are so good 😊 area 3 is my favorite
and did the area 1 arangement for smash ultimate
Well, now I have a composer to look up. Those two alone already give 'em a great discography
I like this game quite a bit. Love when a shmup gives me something other than space shit. Great change up here.

I love this shmup, great songs. I wonder why the 8-bit version of the songs (Famicom/NES) sound more epic.
Dam hardest game in my childhood. Dont know how you can beat it.
I still remember playing this on namco museum essentials for the first time.
Ahh the memories.
And this soundtrack slams😍😍😍
I had this for Namco Museum 50th anniversary for Xbox. Good times, man.
I played this at the arcade in '87-88. Never finished but the soundtrack alone was well worth it.

Dragon Spirit's bound for Switch soon! Let's hope dragon Saber can make it too.
A few years back Namco had a webcomics page, "ShiftyLook." "Dragon Spirit" was one of the games that got it's own limited-run series.
Thanks man, this was a game I remembered vividly when I was a kid, I've been looking for the title for 20+ years! I finally found it!!
THE CLASSICS NEVER DIE🤘
I played that on GameCube, NM: 50th Anniversary that is.
Finished this myself a few years ago on my Pi and, while I also used invisibility, I admit I wasn't playing as carefully as you did so well done, you still dodged 80% of attacks 👏
This may be THE most amazing precision gameplay I've EVER seen!!!!!
WELL DONE!!!! WOW.
He's good, but it also looks like he had invincibility on. There was also a lot of careless playing, mostly grabbing any orb (other than black) regardless of what it did. Giving up shrink and green dragon are bad things to do, especially for the temporary gold dragon.
he's using save states
Had this on Gamecube way back when. I was terrible at it. Couldn't beat the first level. Was quite a step up in intensity from Galaga lol.
I REALLY don't want to see how that dragon makes "bombs"
Dragon Spirit is ABSOLUTELY AWESOME with 2Fast 2Furious gameplay and AMAZING graphics
Wit AWESOME levels and STUNNINGLY Spectacular Boss battles
This is a classic arcade game with a vengeance 💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖
Loved this game growing up.
I had this for the TG-16. Great game. And to me, the soundtrack sounded even better on the TG-16.
I fucking LOVED the NES version of this as a kid. Played the hell out of it. I was 10 when i beat this game on normal difficulty on the PS2. Dont tell my mom i snuck downstairs tho;)
Music from 1:10 in my head after 30y :)
just epic
The NES version was my childhood. This is the first time in seeing the arcade version!
Played this on the NES and the music especially the intro bit was not lost on that version
What a cool game, man.
Had this for the TurboGrafx-16. Not as hard as the arcade version, but the soundtrack is the same. Love the soundtrack on this game.
Reminds me when I was 12, such a great game wow
This game is too nostalgic.
Good lord, I'd forgotten about the level with the walls closing in. This stressed me out all over again, just like when I was five years old.
i remember we called it "the cave" it was always my fav music
really underrated shmup and the first one I ever beat. I like the art style a lot too :D
Iike how the end uses the phrase "jazzing up with joy"
2020, como extraño este juego...............
Me either. I couldn't beat the 1st level either, mostly because I was 6 years old.
The volcano stage was the best part in dragon Spirit. But only it sounds more like a metal riff.
LOVE this game!!! Great video too!!!
Probably the only way to see and experience glaciers in 2040 :(
Best soundtrack ever !
Good game
Amazing
Kind of get some Dragon Breed vibes here. Were they developed by the same people?
I remember being so bad at this game.
Great game, c'mon, the true spirit from the 80s game industen!
Amazing run man!
Whoa!! At 2:09, dont think that powerup was on NES version, was it?!
I couldn't even beat the first area.
remind me of elemental master of genesis
Its sad that you can only grow Three heads. Why is three the limit? Why not three hundred heads!!!?
Because adding another head will increase the size of the dragon and it makes a little harder to dodge the enemy attacks. That’s why.
It sounds a lot like a TurboGrafx game
I want a remake
For the longest time I thought i hallucinogens game
lol at 10:46 i didnt even realize its a flowerthingy u can only shoot the seeds with your close aerial bomb i was shooting it for like 15 mins no results lol
Why is it that sometimes the first level has a different opening to the level on other play throughs?
Level 9 is impossible without cheats ,also this game reminds of Konami's engines,it looks like Konami game,I guess they are used the same engine, greetings from Balkans,Macedonia
Really okay.
1:00
U know what’s funny? I just got done playing this on my Xbox 360
👏👍👍👍🌷
Would you do a long run playing for Henry hartsworth, monter tale,or Thor god of thunder on DS this game is totally recommended and as a hidden gems 😊
The last boss was so underwhelming compared to other stages
Why shooting both weapons at the same time? It's not very effective
Embers told me about this game. So, anyways, how you doin'? I made a Moominhouse, but LEGO didn't want it. I made a mosaic out of my cat's face though. Thanks for listening.-
Great story Mark NODDERS
i hated the stage with beehives and growing thorns
Nice game but you are using invincibility cheat. At least in the description explain how you did that.
