I wanted to take a moment to go through my most important settings for video when it comes to the Canon R5C as well as settings that really work no matter what camera you are shooting with.

Wow! Brandon, you have to be one of the best "tutorial" speakers I've ever watched. Most people waste your time with unnecessary comments. You, on the other hand, are a genius at keeping the video engaging and super informative. Great Job! And, best of luck with your channel! Cheers! Wes
This is the best R5C breakdown on RUclips, simple and to the point!
I recently purchased an R5 C (last week). This video was a great help in getting my (initial?) settings dialed in. Thanks!
I’ve had trouble with Face detect even working at times. I found turning eye detect off helps face detect work better. I guess that it means eye and face detect aren’t fighting each other. Who knows, just my observations so far. Thanks for a great video Brandon
Just picked up a R5 C and this was the first vide i watched... very very informative, still much i need to learn, been shooting videos with my EOS R and other mirrorless cameras, this is my real real cinema cam.
All-I compresses each frame as a separate entity, like a series of jpegs. Long-GOP compressed 15 images over time, removing redundancy not just in the H and V dimensions, but the time dimension as well. So it can compress much more, but it also is harder to accurately decompress, and can lead to cumulative errors as you work with subsequent generations. Generally, record ALL-I and only use long GOP for distribution of masters.
Great video! Made a cheat sheet I carry along to always remember to have optimal settings each shoot.
Just letting you know you kept miss speaking in this video. INTER-frame and Long GOP are the same thing. INTER-frame means that frames after a given key frame are inter-dependent on information that was cached from that key frame. Long Group Of Pictures is just another way of talking about a group of pictures that are inter-dependent on previous frames. All-I or All-Intra on the other hand are INTRA-frame codecs (not INTER-frame). INTRA means all it's information is found within it self, and why an intra-frame codecs file size is much larger, because every frame must contain all its own unique information. The reason inter-frame codecs are more demanding on a computer is because as one scrubs around a video and stops on a random frame, the computer must also track down all the associated keyframe(s) from it's group of pictures that the current frame is dependent on. That means for inter-frame/long-GOP the computer must find multiple frames from multiple points in a file to construct one frame where as with intra-frame/All-I the current frames information is already in the currently loaded frame.
Thank You
You clearly know what you are talking about. I need to watch more of your videos. I was hoping for a more complete R5C walk through of the menus but this video still gave me a lot of information.
These were some great tips. I just updated my r5c's firmware and had not made a lot of adjustments since I took it out of the box. I wanted to set it up for my video shoot tomorrow; otherwise, I would go with my trusty eos r's. Thanks for breaking everything down for me. I made sure that every adjustment or setting on my camera mirrors your suggested settings. Great video and great content on your channel. Thanks.
hello , can i turn off c-log in r5c an record with camera colors like r5 with not c-log?
Nice Video Brandon. I'd suggest that you add focus lock to a button that is easy to get to like on the grip. That fixes a problem I have on my C70 when the autofocus sometimes drifts from the face by allowing me to lock the focus temporarily.
Fantastic tutorial. Bravo! You answered so many questions. I know my new R5C is going to be awesome, but I'm still on the curve! Thanks again.
Thank you, nice job.
Great Information bro! This has been a huge help in setting my R5C preferences.
Hi Brandon. Question about ISO: do you leave in auto ora you choose between 800 or 3200? I use in my R5 C log 3.
Great breakdown and explanation. You now have another follower😊
Can you get the r7 and do a review for us. I think that camera will be an awesome beginner video camera and the only difference would be the magnification from the sensor size. Which could be dealt with.
The specs that camera offers are crazy unbelievable for the price and I want to see if it really is that way. Like the rebel sl3 then, this camera might be what beginners into video need to learn alot. A review would be really helpful so beginners know they can get a lot without breaking the bank.
What do you think about Canon's recent firmware update on the R5C that allows the "RAW Light" option? Do you prefer this over the XF-AVC format?
We need your lut on this interview
I’m getting the R5C tomorrow! Thx for the great videos covering everything needed! 😁
I have a sony a7iii but love your videos and I just signed up for the free course thanks so much..
Great content and overview. Can you make a video on lenses for a beginner. Just purchased the R5 C and I would classify myself as an enthusiast. I found your style to be upfront and to the point. I'm a Canon person and don't want to explore other bodies-it's a personal choice, not an endorsement. Thanks in advance and "keep shooting" as BW would say...
Brandon
Great video, once I get my R5C I will try the adjustments you suggested.
this was great!!! Thank you for this, surely gave me a lot to consider. This was some need to know information
Fabulous content and info! But i almost can see the prompter in your eye ball moves. :D All-I the best from Istanbul
Hi Brandon, I noticed you were shooting weightlifting. Do you shoot team sports with the R5C? Thinking of picking this up
Man your video editing skills are unmatched
pleasant surprise to see Darren in the vid!
ugggghhh can you talk about or show how you got the 4 ch audio? does it automatically do that? is it baked into the video file? I can't find any videos talking about it
Awesome tutorial. Very simple, descriptive and easy to follow steps

Great job with this video! Great production value and excellent tips.
This vid is food for the soul ❤️
Brandon, you're a really great presenter and this video was wonderful. =)
Thanks!!
Hi Brandon. I am using the same micorphone Rode wireless on R5 C but my audio menu is all disabled. What you think causign my issue?
Hi All! As I also have the R5C now, how can I quickly switch between the 8K 25p to 4k 120p recording option ?
Fantastic to the point and educational unbiased info.
Hello, I can't record film in 59,..hz modus. When I hit the rec button it says invalid operation. please advice
Solid video Brandon. Thanks for sharing your insights in a concise but comprehensive manner. Man you covered a lot of material in a short time! Thinking of taking R5 C to Alaska for a wildlife shoot and I picked up a couple things I will use as I familiarize myself with that particular body.
Which external battery are you using?
Wow. Soo much I didn't know
I’ll def keep in mind how to monitor audio if I get the r5c thanks!
Thanks for the video, bruv. Super helpful!
Very Helpful Thank you Player!
So good! Thanks for making this video bro!
Another excellent job!
what was this shot on?
Thanks for this video boss. Super helpful. Subbed!
The R6 settings similar to the R5C ?
Good video my friend. Well detailed
watched the whole video, it was great thx :)
Very informative. Thanks B
Excellent video!!! Thank you so much!!!!
Very very informative bro great video
I just got mine yesterday and can’t even open videos on Mac 😅
Thanks for the video. How often do you do the ABB? I just bought this camera and am still learning the menu system.
How are you powering your R5C? And does it power the camera in 8k raw 60p?
I will like to see you test the Fujifilm xh2s F-log 2 Prores HQ against the Canon R5c C log 3 in XF AVC
Great vid bro
Great video. Thanks. Does anyone have any suggestions which canon camera is good to do live streams while at events
Tally light?
🔥🔥🔥
I have the RP. I've done what I can with it 😎
Very good informative video. The only change i would make to this is the 24 and 25fps. I hate the choppy look of these slow frame rates (a personal thing) and it gives the footage a look that appears to be not sharp as you get more motion blur. I was shooting in 30fps for controlled lighting or outside work, but that is a problem in Australia as we have 50hz lighting with normal lighting on jobs. So i now shoot in 50fps. It is bigger files and makes slow-mo limited, but love the smooth look of these higher frame rates. My only other comment is exposure is king, even if you are not on the optimal ISO, for log, it NEEDS to be exposed right, so learn your camera and how to expose it correctly.
First viewer 👍🏾👍🏾

LIGHTS.
I've been telling people for years that electronic stabilization is better than IBIS for video
Neither are ideal imo. You want to be using a lens with image stabilization if going handheld, or add weight to your rig and balance it out and let gravity do its thing.
way too complicated sorry man. no help.
free course link broken?
At 4:30, when I shoot in slow, the pics turn off.. is this normal?
