I loved the original, it has always been my favorite game ever. However, I would be happy to see it in a more remake style, to be able to re-experience the story from a different perspective, so that the game can surprise me again. This is not to say that I wouldn't love a 1:1 remaster, but I'll just be happy if they simply re-release it at all.
@@imaginator85 This was a really good video. I grew up playing Final Fantasy and even made a video about Zidane's character because he's the protagonist I relate to the most. I really do hope we get a remake and that strongly sticks to the story as well as even giving us content that was cut from the original game. One of the things I loved about FF9 were the towns and general Architecture. I miss being able to go into houses and having an actual world map to explore. I like many wanted to like FF7 remake, but it messed with the lore too much for my taste and I miss that subtle nuance when it came to scenes or weighing in the actions of our characters. Giving us that moment to think over the gravity of just happened and we don't always get that when a game is too action packed now in days. Thank you for making this video and I hope we get to see FF9 again because these games are a part of many of our childhoods and even to this day has inspired me to create some of my own original works so I'm always happy to see such topics being talked about even all these years later.
FF9 is my fav OAT but I do want a complete remake. A remaster would be wasting the game's potential and would definitely categorize the game behind 7 when it's superior in every way and a full remake is the way to do so. Yes to the voice acting because I would love to hear Jesse McCartney play Zidane. And a full remake is the best way to solve the pacing issues in the story and restructure the dullest points in the story like Conde Petie and Madain Sari (Garnet's origin can be told without the need to seek ingredients to cook a stew) and perhaps add a thing or two to do in the Lost Continet because there's not much to see there and feels like a waste of opportunities.
With character portraits, I'd like them to do like Star Ocean (at least 4 iirc), where you had different portraits to choose. The 3d model portrait, and the anime style. There are also no shortage of people who would love to have Beatrix as a permanent member. I'd personally do it as a hidden character that you can use in a new game plus type situation. So it's not technically part of the story, but it is there.
Wow, I've never heard of optional portraits! That's really neat! And yeah...come to think of it...Beatrix is a fan favorite that's way underutilized. Not gonna lie...I wouldn't be mad to see more of her. lol
100% with you on that. It's all about the old format of ff7-ff9. I would have speech bubbles, world map with wind effects, day/night cycles and the characters would be alot smaller than they were compared to the locations on the map

I think the VII:R gameplay is the strongest in the franchise - nothing wrong with hiding the ATB a little bit and not sticking to the Redcoats style of battle. (Lining up on static sides and trading shots)
My heart jumps every time i see a video talking about the remake leaks since info on this comes and goes with enough time in between to make you think you just dreamt it. It is by far my favourite FF and it's one i like to go back on from time to time due to its more classic roots when 7 and 8 went more futuristic, aka i just like the way it looks and i wouldn't want that changed too much. I am also in the same boat in regards to FF9's battle system, i really don't want it to be anything but a turn-based game, though i appreciate qol features to speed up entering a fight. I hate how FF has evolved over to action rpgs in order to bring in a new audience while completely shafting their old audience. You can see this as far back as ff12 which ended up being more hybrid action with atb, and as you went up to 13, then 15, its action roots just became its standard. Not to say the FF7 remake or even FF16 are terrible as the newer games, it just leaves much to be desired since they are just following trends.

Good video. I agree with a lot of the things you said. I wish Beatrix was playable. Lost content is always a plus. Correct me if I am wrong: Bravery Default 2 on Nintendo Switch. Had 3D characters models on a 2 background. If I'm not mistaken all Bravery Default games do this. This art style works well as long as the character models are not to small. In final Fantasy 7 I remember losing track of characters and doorways.
A free roaming camera is probably as cheap or cheaper than pre-render backgrounds at this point. They would probably have to build a lot of collision code from scratch rather than letting Unreal handle it.
The voice acting, I think I could live with if they did it. Concerning music, I kinda would like expansions on some of the songs. Also the Invincible needs NEEDS airship music. Mind you, SOME of the songs since Tactics Ogre reborn did that so well! Your other points completely make sense. I didn't like the Zidane redesign either. 😂
I recently played the game with the moguri mod. It was gorgeous. If they did a remaster that used prerendered backgrounds and 3D characters again, the only thing that could actually improve is the overworld. That's just not a big enough difference to justify all that work. As long as we can get the original game and upgrade it with the mod, I'm okay with a remake. I was actually pretty bitter about the FF7 remake while it was in development until I found out that you could get the original on PC and mod it.
As long as the original game is available, I'm fine with significant remakes. I may never play them, but other people enjoy them, and that's okay. Now, if there was a version that looked like the Final Fantasy IX Memoria Project and still had the turn based gameplay of the original, I'd be all over that.

Like I hope they don't change the battle system and keep it turn based, orchestrated version of the music would be nice, keep the same art style is big too I sure hope they don't change it, and yes I would like to see a different game of cards because tetra master was convoluted for sure. The transfer to battles takes too much time imo, it should be faster. And this might be a hot take, but I've always felt that Quina and Amarant bring nothing to the story; so they should be fleshed out more. Also I'd kinda like Beatrix and Amarant's big-axed friend to join the party permanently, but maybe that's asking for too much lol. Nice video, peace.

While I'm a fan of both games and would like for both of them to be remade unfortunately FF6 Remake has already been debunked as Square backed off saying it'd take 20+ years to Remake FF6!! I know Yoshi P spoke about and how he isn't involved with that project but just because he said he isn't involved doesn't mean FF9 remake has been debunked!! I don't see any reason this masterpiece needs to be remade. The only change I would make is to remove the time limit to get Excalibur 2. Make a proper sidequest for that.
@JohnSyzlack fair enough. As Someone who's done both walk through and speed run the game i honestly have no problem with it!! I've read the story several times speed running just gives me a different kind of vibe with the game plus it gives me a reason to button mash lol I sound like a kid saying that!! Anyways this is my favorite video game but I do have my own complaints with the game!! My only problem is King Of Jump Rope and Tetra Master!! I just don't have the patience to do 1000 jump ropes nor do I have the dexterity to play and win 9999 games of Tetra Master while losing 0 and draw 0. Those are the only 2 issues I have with the game which both are just side quests anyways so they can easily be ignored P.S. I'm aware Tetra Master is mandatory and you have to play at least 3 games in order to progress through the main story but in my honest opinion those who complain about it to me honestly sounds over exaggerated and knit picking!
@thevangsta9892 8 had a way better card game. The major problem with 9 as I see it was the strategy guide. It was useless so 100%ing the game at its release was nearly impossible.

As for FF8 can't say much about it since i haven't played it yet. I do plan on getting to it soon maybe for the year 2025 I'm just finishing up FF3(Pixel Remaster) and FF4(PSP complete story) first.

The character designs are too cartoonish in their proportions to ever properly translate to a realistic style in my opinion. I'm totally on board with you on that.
It ain't happening and doesn't exist buddy already came out publicly and implied if they did it they would pull a rebirth. The fanbase just wants a glow up to the original but they aren't going to do that, gonna have to stick with moguri mod or hope that project memoria becomes something.
I'll believe it's not happening once the entire 2025 year passes because they've spoke about it since 2021 and games take time to develop!! Next year is my last hope for this!! If it's not happening then it is what it is!!
