Valley's everything got better with every song. Pretty cool to see and hear. For what its worth and listening with a discerned ear Mississippi Valley sounded pretty damn good overall. SU was as expected. Strong work for both bands.

Some people here are just not true band heads. The fact that bonds Has been at valley in a bit over a year and he was able to give one of the best/top programs in the band world a run for their money.. all I can say is I feel for a lot of bands this upcoming season.
I just wrote something similar. Every since starting out as band directors in New Orleans in the late 90's and early 2000's. Anyone who knows Miguel, know that will will take a band from nothing to 1 of the biggest bands over night to be able to run with the top bands. The did good but of no stretch of the imagination did Valley beat Southern. Nonetheless. If this is where they are in just a few years, they may be a problem in the near future. Especially if they polish up.
Southern hands down bust their ass, but MSVU did sound damn good and I'm sure bonds used this as a great recruitment opportunity. Expect them to bulk up next year

Valley trumpets out there stepping on the demons. Never thought I’d see the day man. Quiet as it’s kept, them boys didn’t want to see Miguel in the SWAC. Dude been legendary in the band world since days at Reed (04). So it’s only a matter of time before Valley becomes a powerhouse.

Something that may help southerns trumpet section would be to have the trumpets that are playing in the lower register on deeper cup mouthpieces to help give them a fatter/fuller tone. They sound just a tad thin in comparison to the mellos. They sound good though overall.
@@lukelucas8112 their mid and low trumpets (2nd Trumpets and 3rd Trumpets) sound thin tone wise. It would help them to play on deeper cup mouthpieces that complement their embouchure. Screaming isn’t every trumpets ministry. It’s okay to be the support. This will take their trumpets sound to the next level. They still sound good but I look forward to them sounding even greater in the 2024 marching band season.
It’s a combination of no true screamersin 1st/ poor arrangements/ them switching to euphos bro. Euphos are not made for marching band, as they cover the upper brass gliss. When you add the fact SU doesn’t produce killers on mello/trumpet like of the past, you get this overall weak upper brass sound they’ve been producing since Haymer/B left.
Valley did sound great and big ups for their improvement over the last few years💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾SU did what they came to do…..that Canned Heat made me go watch Napoleon Dynamite 🔥🔥🔥🔥
