We use “y cross” in rollout/play action. We roll back to the single WR side and put him on a dropout. 20 personnel h back across formation in the flat with y cross getting over the dropout. I know it’s not traditional but we hit the dropout A LOT last season with good results.
Reilly Johnson I took Sail out this year. Kind of have a sail on the left side of 95. I still think it’s a good play just wanted to put the Sprint out back in.
Hey Coach - Video idea I would really appreciate.... What does your game day call sheet look like/how do you create it. Is it different week to week? Varies every week? Or just a few wrinkles week to week. Also, how much do you rely on it? Do you refer to it a lot, or do you call the game "by feel" Thanks Coach
Coach, do you run the companion play, 94 Y Sail? Also, what exactly is the goal of 94 Y Sail? What is it trying to accomplish? I get the whole deal about it presenting threats at 3 levels; if the go route is supposed to control the coverage or act as an "alert" route, what are we doing with the flat and the 10 yard speed out? Are we trying to vertically or horizontally stretch the curl flat defender against Cover 3 coverages? Could the flat and 10 yard speed out also serve as the vertical stretch on the flat defender in Cover 2 coverages? Seems like it would be good if you could use just 94 Y Sail and toss out traditional Smash, and get 2 plays for the price of 1. Are there any real significant reasons to keep traditional Smash?
PhillyEaglesFanatic Wow you make a lot of good points. I would say 3 level stretch. Always looking for an easy completion. We took it out this year & replaced with a smash type sprint out because of our QB’s ability on the edge. Still think it’s a great play and I see your thought process on 2 for 1.
How do you run y cross out of trips? Like that you draw against cover 3 1 high. That's the defense we see most. What other pass plays do you recommend against that defense? Most videos don't show classic air raid versus 4-2-5 one high cover 3. That's an idea

Jefe I like it coach. I have a buddy that does something very similar off play action. He swears by it. 👍
I like the idea - what protection do you use? On play action is it like a bootleg?
Gary Anderson last year we just used sprint out protection. This season we’d like to continue with that as well as boot off of outside zone.

Out cross curl swing
Yes
Sail as an alternative or compliment to 4 verts.

I put that as a suggestion. Sail on both sides of 2x2.. 4 verts

@@CoachJoeSalas Ok, sounds good. Thanks!
Great Concept! I would also tag the Z to run the Shallow, to keep the "Backers" honest.
