One of the funny things I used to teach people 16 years ago was how people answer the door on a "cordless phone" - if these kids even know what that is- and they pretend to be on the phone - and I used to talk about how the (then) elderly people would mouth things like "I'm on long-distance" - as a way to convey that they couldn't possibly talk because it's "so expensive" - and back then- that was already a dated reference because long distance had long since ceased to be something you pay for. So that VBP of the HOA made me laugh with his "long distance phone call" excuse." - that's at least 25 years out of date - teachable moment- people tend to "imprint" their cultural time of reference and as they age- that stays in their head- think of it as the phenomenon that made your Dad or grandpa think that a shirt costs the same in 2015 as it did in 1989. These guys handle the age objection so poorly. There's a simple line and maneuver - but it isn't here because the source material for all this is lost in the past and they didn't update the "software license" to keep the "app" updated.

It just makes me cry- these people working so hard- trying so hard - they are doing a lot of good things effort-wise - (minus the unbelievably inappropriate jokes now and then) - and yet they say it all the wrong things! Because they do not understand what's REALLY going on with solar power. It's just that they are not saying the right things- period. So, they need a "model" home??? Can't get one? All these "deals" they are doing but can't find the "model home." Not one of these people is listening or understands or resonates with ANY of that gibberish. He noticed her garden- but doesn't notice what's really going on with solar power. This is the kind of team that would learn so much, so fast, if they retained me to train their whole team. They have learned my 16-year old stuff, the broken talking tracks. They just need to new stuff. They don't even have the 16 year old materials in the hands. So much better.
