Ghost Town on the River!! My dad used to take us there all the time back in the 1970's! They had a small western type town setup where they would re-enact stagecoach robberies, complete with guys being shot and falling from balconies. I think they shut it down due to the rise in crime in the are, too close to urban Louisville....
I remember going to Fontaine Ferry when I was a kid. I remember The Comet, The Whip, The Tilt-a-whirl, the swimming pool, the Old Mill, the Penny Arcade, The Caterpillar, the train. It costed about a dime to get in. You paid for the rides separately. Does anyone remember a small amusement park off Berry Blvd near 7th Street in Louisville called Kiddy Land?
My grandma actually used to go there one she was a kid and she remembers in fondly but its sad to see it gone bc i would have loved to take her there so she could see it but the parks gone now but shes still alive and kicking
May have been nice if you could have shown some pics of what it looked like. I have some that my mother had taken way back in the day somewhere around here it was quite the place. It later became "Ghost Town On The River" with the theme of course of an old western town.
I was going to say what Jonathan Vincent said; we pronounced it like “fountain” even though it was Fontaine (built on Aaron Fontaine’s estate). I spent idyllic hours there in the 1950s. That an entire race was denied those pleasures simply because of the color of their skin is ultimately why it died. What is happy memories for me no doubt represents the deepest of cuts for them.

You guys must be country boys. I went in there and it was too much a forest for me. Very nice video!

I rode this coaster a lot as a child in the 70s. It was a rough ride but it was a lot of fun
I found a 1935 nickel metal detecting the River edge at Fountaine Ferry…someone else found a diamond ring worth 10k
this is so fascinating and interesting to see remenants of a former coaster in the woods after decaying for decades
I REMEMBER GOING AS A KID, IT WAS GREAT..
The name was actually "Fontaine Ferry", not "Fountaine Ferry", although most Louisvillians pronounced it as "Fountain Ferry".
Oops I didn't mean to misspell it lol
I'm surprised there's still remnants all these years later.

Cool video!
It's like the stones are what left behind now.
I remember riding the coaster when I was a child and watching parts of it fall off lol
