Munster fan here. Iv never seen such a big man using footwork rather than pure power to beat defenders and then have the accelerate of a centre. With POM coming towards an end i think izzy will get his chance in green during the November internationals (he might play 2nd row and beirne move to 6). I feel like he has a unique skill set where he can beat defenders on his own rather than using attack structures/multi phase which is something ire need more of

Great analysis! He certainly is someone with a serious amount of talent - lets hope he harnesses it!

Scary pace for a guy who's 201cm (6'7") and 117kg. He's like a slightly slower but taller/bigger/stronger version of Ryan Baird.

with his frame, and athletic ability he screams Courtney Lawes (Game has changed so he wont be destroying 10's as much) but if he can get to 50% of the player lawes is he'll have one hell of a journey

You reckon he is slower than Baird? If so, by a whisker!!

@@harryocallaghan8082 Harry, when lawes was a kid he was very quick, maybe not as fast to accelerate, and I'm not sure we can say an unproven kid has better hands than the current inform 6 in world rugby

@@DanR-1994 I grew up watching Lawes from the age of 18 right up until now. He was quick but not known for his ability to accelerate and break the gainline like a natural running backrower and gain a lot of metres. Lawes is more of truck it up the middle backrower. Only ever gaining 2 or 3 metres at most. Brilliant at everything else, no doubt about that but Izuchukwu has serious gas and a turn of pace and runs more like a number 8. Very athletic and agile for a man of his size. Very fit too and obviously has great hands coming from rugby 7s. He’s packed on a lot of beef since his 7s days too but somehow hasn’t lost his speed. He’s a terrific athlete and still so young. Ireland has an embarrassment of riches in the backrow.

Love the opening clip. When I saw him for Ulster I was wondering where he came from. Now I remember Him for the x series.

For Ulster, he will be a blindside flanker. For Ireland, because there is gonna be serious depth at that position with Ryan Baird, Tom Ahern and Cian Prendergast, he would be ideally suited as a second row. Joe McCarthy, Tadhg Beirne, James Ryan, Iain Henderson, Cormac Izuchukwu and Edwin Edogbo is a fantastic depth chart.

Can only pick a few of them though!! Big decisions

@@PocketRugby Farrell seems to favor power athletes in his starting 15 especially at the 6 jersey. I can see Cormac and Ryan fight for the 6 jersey as they have the similar profiles.

Something about the lighting on Izzy in the left photo of the thumbnail makes him look like a player from Rugby 08. 😂
Great player, though, and a superb tribute to accompany him!
