Thank you very much sir! I have a massive back catalogue of forgeworld models that need to be done. I have been so busy the last 3 years I have hardly had time to do many. I just this morning dug out my awesome Garviel Loken vs Abaddon one, and was about to start when I see this video. Very helpful. Cheers very much indeed 👊
Great video! Thank you for posting it. You asked for feedback on your Discord and the only feedback I would offer is recommending you spend a little bit more time showing how you did certain things like the battle damage or even your brush technique on the brief edge highlights. Not that you go through a whole detailed explanation so much is just showing close up what you are doing. I think that would take this from an A to an A+. But again, it's a great video and I'm excited to try it out.
Am I nuts, or did the decals that were on the mini just disappear at 9:13 while painting the base? From my experience, there's a lot of unnecessary varnishing - I've coated a mini in enamel washes (streaking grime and then later panel liner) and wiped off with white spirit and it never harmed the acrylic paint, with a squad of five. The white spirit never even touched the decals, so varnishing over those seems overkill as well. Great drybrushing technique, and I'll have to work on this more as mine definitely did not come out as bright/even on the color gradient.
Very effective painting method. The Space Marines looks great. Your tutorial is comprehensive but could be a few minutes longer on a few steps you used. Will look out for more of your videos.
What spray paints do you recommend I use for black armor I’m painting raven guard and I’m have trouble finding a painting tutorial that doesn’t use just use airbrush’s or all edge highlights
Vallejo Hobby Color Sprays have a Panzer Grey spray, this is a very dark grey similar to Eshin Grey or Corvus Black. Prime your models black, then apply a zenithal coat of Panzer Grey for a subtle highlight, then drybrush and sponge weather with Eshin Grey like I did in step 7 with Exile Green :)
Check out my website, I have a tutorial for Alpha Legion armour there: taleofpainters.com/2022/07/tutorial-how-to-paint-alpha-legion-armour-heresy-era/ :)
You would need to start with black primer and then apply a dark grey for the zenithal basecoat. On my Patreon I have a tutorial for painting Raven Guard which covers black armour.

Thanks buddy, yeah, I'll try to get a better camera for future tutorials so I can zoom in closer and show you more of the actual painting :)

Yes, I might have filmed the last couple of steps in a different order than presented in the tutorial :)

Thanks for the feedback! Will do in future videos (and try to get a better cam) :)

Hi, curious how this would work for black armour…

W gantz manga
Too much varnish. Every varnish step except the last one is unnecessary.
