There are tutorials for all the characters, showcasing their specific gimmicks, moves that don't function like most other moves, and even how to utilize them in certain scenarios, but there are also tutorials for universal stuff like wall jumping out of special fall, directional air dodges, DI/SDI, Techs, Wavedashes, etc.
Choc, I would like to bring to your attention that rivals allows you to make your own custom skins, and that one of the default ones that the devs made for Hodan is just straight up Donkey Kong
when vern kept winning with Olympia i knew that he had unleashed something within gamers that i call "rage instinct breached" which is when someone feels intense hatred towards one player (or character) but instead of being angry they control it and i knew that choc had unleashed it
There is literally an info section right on the player menu on the character select screen that clearly shows the character's kit, which works even for workshop characters, and it's ESPECIALLY horrible to see them not use any of them.
Okay, so Hodan is a charge character. You hold down to charge forward air, up special, and up-tilt. His sweat spirits power up his specials. Up smash can also spike as seen in the video, but it can be teched, which is sad. Overall, the character is fun and I’ve mained him since he came out in the base game. Forward air also can kill at 80-90% charged. He’s nuts, I love him. Also down smash is K. Rool down smash without the armor, but it has a parry system, so it’s okay.
I've been labbing him, and apparently, because of how easy it is to charge, moonwalking with Hodan gives you free charge and easily works into all of his kit, while still keeping his movement options. This game is busted.
Pomme: Down special sound field lets her float for an entire second or so, makes her neutral b projectiles faster and I think do more damage. And she can use her up b a second time if she goes through her field. Mollo: He can use multiple different kinds of bombs, and holding neutral b lets you pick different kinds. Just pressing the button pulls out the bomb. He also has a special bomb that kills super early. Hodan: Holding down lets him charge different moves. Forward air, down b, side b, and up special. Side B normally summons Sweat Spirits that give max sweat. They also power up his neutral B. He is extremely dangerous when he has his Steam Sauce built up. Oh. And Up Smash is a grab that spikes off stage. But you can tech off the side. Olympia: The most fair and balanced of them. Neutral B summons a crystal field that can be broken by hitting the crystal. If the Olympia activates it while the opponent is in the field, it crystallizes them for free hits so long as the opponent is still in hitstun. Down B does the same, but it can armor through one move. Similar to the Shoto down B in Smash, it can also be cancelled by pressing the parry button. Side B can be jump cancelled within the field. Also, down B into Up Smash is a true combo. Galaxies (the special affect similar to red spark in Smash, but no DI can ever save you.) most characters at about 90 or 100. Pomme music field lets her float in all directions, instead of just side to side. I'm pretty sure Olympia's crystal field lets her jump cancel side B, but I don't utilize that too much...

The music based attacks being stronger in the music AoE actually does make scientific sense. It wouldn’t be nearly as consistent in real life but it would work.
This video was funny (also the second Choc and Vern finds out about their Abyss Runes, not only will Olympia will be more painful to fight against, but Pomme too) Also Choc, Mollo's smash attacks aren't the only thing that interacts with his bombs, down special, side special (if you have the bomb in your hand), and up special (if it is also in your hand) can use it too (favorite is down special cuz it's just a bomb version of Ness side smash)
Bit of trivia on rivals, forsburn is not a bad guy and is zetterburn's half-brother. He was also framed for murdering his father which is why he's not a happy camper.

She has a float like peach and her song field allows her to float in any direction while normal float is horizontal. The only move her song field upgrades is nspecial, making the notes faster. Pomme's bodyguard is named Vince. Kragg can only up special a second time after touching the stage. Shovel Knight's armor works as follows (in order in the taunt menu): dynamo mail allows for air strongs after hitting a down air. Momentum mail makes you slippery and heavier. Ornate plate makes you gold and gives you fancy jump animations, also it's the most expensive item in the shop while basically being a taunt. Hodan is a charge character who has many moves buffed if inputted after holding down. Fair, up special, forward special, down special, down tilt, forward air all are buffed in either killpower or combo potential in some way.
I recommend the rivals of aether tutorials, they're actually really good at not only teaching you the game but each individual character too. I never knew it was there for ages either as Smash has conditioned us to not expect basic training/tutorial modes
Vernias was having so much fun with Olympia, and he didn’t even find out about down smash or Dow special. (Down smash covers more of the ground the more it’s charged to just stupid levels, and down special is literally Smash Ryu focus attack, and it puts the enemy in the crystal.
Vern reminds me of Greg Ayres. He's so full of energy and passion that everything he says hypes you up or makes you laugh. Also cudos to you for not taking that one sd win and quitting. I mean you didn't win again, but most people would have definitely taken the lame win and left.

If you crouch with hodan you get powered up attacks. The ghosts change the down special up special and neutral special.
