- After getting through most of the first 5 stages of BC Bike Race unscathed, it was finally time to pay up on Day 6.
And I'm still hurting, ugh!
Extended race videos are up on / bkxc

Brian you crashed in the EXACT spot Macky crashed in on the same day. That must have been one hard bridge.
MTN BIKON I was just thinking the same thing....
Saw that and thought the same thing. I'm sure others fell there too.
I saw Macky fall too. Now i'm really nervous about slippery bridges.
The one broken plank is probably a dozen handlebar ends hitting the same spot.. Lol
I don't think the plank was broken when Macky crashed... I agree with Paul Griffith
A bike crash always feels better when it's not your expensive bike 🤣😜👍
Hahaha!!
No when you crash it always feels better when your alive
Man, I cringed and my knees flexed when I saw you hit the dirt. Crashes are never a good thing.
11:35 "That's what she said?"
HehHehahHahhEeEEHa
Haha
Oopsi😂😂
I like how your alternate personality showed through in this vid, making friends, as long as they stay out my way!! The change in voice was almost Golem-esk 🤣
“Comparison* is the thief of joy” Great job on the strong finish. A true inspiration to witness. There’s always somebody out there who is stronger and faster... You are that dude for so many of us. Keep spinning, Brian.
But....How arrogant of me to think you haven’t figured that out after editing that clip. Haha.
Yes, comparison!! Not arrogant at all, I had forgotten about it and probably went back to saying it the wrong way. Thanks so much for the kind words Mike.
Am i the only onr who wants to see felix burkes pov?
Yeah!
I mean, No!, you're not the only one
@@bkxc haha, love your videos keep up the good work you are a inspiration for me, much love from Switzerland
Legit Paul The Punter impression! I had to check who's channel I was on. :P
I’m a newbie and I’ve had my share of crashes that knocked the wind out of me. But I did get up and after a while, back on my bike. And this video is beautiful!! The clarity is so amazing, you can see all shades of greens and browns
Thanks so much! We all get knocked down, gotta keep moving forward!
This one is quite technical route, I think.. THANK YOU BMC for sponsoring this journey, so we can enjoy for other part of the world.
o wow man. that fall sounded ouch. lucky u could still ride with the rib that way. when i bust my 9th and 10th rib i couldn't even sit one a bar stool. awesome series dude. Thanks for the adventure!!
Oh man, brutal!!
Broken ribs are not fun... been there done that!! But you get through and that's great. BC must be the MTB paradise, the trails are so amazing
I can say you have had an amazing run without serious injury. Personally, i have wrecked and broken bones since I've been watching your channel! Lol
That’s the best time to watch his vids lol
Haha, so far so good!
Thanks for sharing another amazing video Brian. I'm glad you were able to finish despite the crash. Looks and sounds like you have a brilliant time in this race
You got so lucky coming out of that with nothing more than a broken rib, hope you heal up quick and strong dude :)
Still watching just after your crash....you’re a gamer Brian! Got tight up and after it immediately! Then underway started thinking what had happened! Love it! Well done!
Didn't give myself any time to think!!
Bad luck, hate to see BKXC in pain. In the UK with all the rain wet bridges are one aspect we all learn to take very easy. Have a fall on them at some point. And it usually hurts as go down fast.
You need to blue lock-tite front and rear axles every-time and torque to spec. They come loose on all bikes ime, unless you are pulling the wheels practically every couple of rides. If you over tighten, all you do is bind the rear bearings and eventually you'll snap an axle as both have happened to me. Great vids!
Stay safe Man. I love your videos kept me alive in this quarantine times.
Brian, this is fun tagging along with you. Thanks for taking us to Canada with you. : )
Funny you mentioned the loose thru axle. I had a nasty loud persistent creak at the front of my bike. I tore down, cleaned, and regreased the head set twice. Still there for days. About to tear down again, I decided to check the spokes (cleared). Thought, while I'm here, I should tighten all the bolts. The front axle was almost a turn and a half loose. Totally the problem. Tighten it. Noise gone. Funny how even a simple fix can go unnoticed.
Also, caught a stick in my rear wheel on this mornings ride. Had not happened in years. So when I saw it happen to you, I laughed.
This is bizzaro. I crashed on a simple rock roll a month ago, and smashed my chest-mounted GoPro into my ribs. Still hurts when I sneeze or laugh. You are an animal for hoping back on the bike so fast (adrenaline is powerful) ... and riding for two more days.
Again, thanks for bringing us with you. The lush green is amazing in BC.
Oh man, the loose axel is always the culprit!! Thanks dude
Ugh man, having just broken a bunch of ribs in a similar crash it was PTSD inducing to watch this! I really appreciate the breakdown though, I've been really down on myself while I recover and haven't been able to ride...this gave me a ton of confidence to hit the trails again.
The thing about a crash especially when it’s been so long....is that you know it’s coming.
Glad you're healin' up, Big B. VERY enjoyable video, as always. Interestingly, half the time I want to see the race as you saw it, but the scenery is so sweet to see, your video during this stage of the race took me forever to get through as I was stopping to see just how cool the forest was as you rode by!
It was BEAUTIFUL every day!
you are a beast, not even a broken rib stops you from finishing.
Dude you were in a friggin in a groove before that crash bobbing and weaving, nice recovery for sure ! (Fern Gully Trail ).
I love how you drive more together than against each other.
Man the terrain you rode through is truly amazing. Wow, what a great experience.
Thanks Dwayne!
You were going hard, good effort! Crashed and cracked my ribs last year in a simlar crash. Bit tender at first and then something suddently went when I was lifting a case down a few days later. Good luck with the recovery.
Thanks!! Feeling good now.
You are still a beast Brian, just glad you did not land on your shoulder/ac joint or hurt your clavicle either. But I know what bruised ribs feel like, rest up and ice it up. That bridge was definitely deceiving.
Whew, me too!
Nice race bud. Sorry about that nasty spill. I'm glad it didn't put you out of the race. Great job staying motivated through the whole thing, I'm sure there were tons of hoops to jump through. I wish Alex and Seth could have raced with you. Haven't seen anything from Alex in a long time, hope he's not hurt. Hope you heal up quick bud. God Bless.
Thanks Wayne! Alex is alive and well, should have some new stuff coming!
Glasses suggestion - I wear a pair of Oakley Racing Jacket glasses with photo chromatic lenses. So no taking them off and they work in shade or sun. Mine are black frame with bright red accents so while the lenses are yellow they are extremely obnoxious, just as cycling glasses should be ;) As an added bonus they're pretty old so they're verging on being retro.
Reminds me of when I bailed snowboarding. Carried on and felt sore but ok. At home later feeling really sore and I sneezed! Boom! I was in total agony and couldn't move. My kids had to dress me and take me to A+E! Cracked ribs is the most pain I have ever felt in my life bro!
Ahahaha Im sorry man I hate to laugh at your expense but those noises comin out of you on that crash were priceless 🤣🤣 Loving this series, I have to do this race at some point in my life, maybe Ill see you there!
Star Wars speeder bike vibes riding through the forest!
'It was slippery.' ... lmaooooo.... wholy shit.. great job recovering my friend.. i wiped out bad this year too.. i didnt get back up as quick as you did.
Damn that place is beautiful. Thank you for showing us around!
Yay! Another awesome BCBR video! Nice racing Brian always so polite passing people! Yea and Macky fell on the same bridge! 😉 Great video!
Though the pain, gets up and rides off like a BOSS! Pain and Pleasure!
I got videos to make, baby!!
Will I messed up the series. Watched the last 2 out of order.. duhhhhhhhh.
Hope the rib heals up ok, you're a mountain biker, suck it up and enjoy.
Pain is how you know you are alive! It's BC baby, it's what you came for! Perfect explanation of the whole race!!
Keep up the great work Bri.
Haha, I'm surprised more people didn't watch out of order! Thanks dude
The best trails in the world, amazing story telling videos, no doubt I'll watch it again
Glad you're still enjoying them Effie!
Just broke my collar bone a few hours ago.. Long road to recovery. Really glad it was not as bad for you. I still get to see you riding :)))
One day at a time!
Rest easy my friend you're a hard rider.
I'm glad your side is healing. I did the same thing to mine on a huge root I've ridden over tons of times at the the bottom of Paul's Plunge in Copper.
Ahhh brutal!
Watching bkxc at at 2 am. Totally worth it.
in 2016 i went otb riding down some stairs. not sure how i didnt die or at least break something. scraped up bleeding..but kept riding. HOWEVER..im now scared of stairs. They have to be "JUST RIGHT" for me to go down them..and only about 3 or 4 steps at most..and im fixing to be 48 Nov30th..SO..lol..It sux being scared of something. Holds you back for life. Dont let it get you Brian. You know its not the bridge itself that got you. It was the fact it was messed up and you lost concentration that got you..Keep pushing bud.
Yeah, I'm quite scared of the bridges now!!
I should be doing school but nope gota watch BKXC
reasons why humanity is failing right here.
@gr4vity rides wait did you say no bike never mind ill keep on doing school
@@rostonnordell3218 yeah dude thats the way you get a bike with edu!!!btw..one time is okay but never do it again hahaha
awesome! that finishing injury always happens lifting a pillow or something the next day
Hahaha yes
Those trails look so fun to race
Bad-ass, Brian! Busted rib and you're still kickin' butt. I'd have been looking for the Gator to get back down. Hope you're healing fast.
I also prefer the cliff blocks but if your hungry and after energy, the gel is the way forward
Congrats Brian...you wrecked without cursing...
HAhaha!
Another great video Brian
BKXC: The only wildlife I’ve seen is dead snakes
Lady behind him: am I a joke to you?
Some great features in that one, i loved the editing of your crash, that was super cool, another inspirational video :)
Duuuuude! I just went "oooh, aaaargh" with you and bent sideways on my chair when you fell on the sketchy ass skinny bridge. Damn. Hope you heal fine, brother. Good to know it wasn't that serious. Cheers.
Haha I'm doing solid now!
You always need to get up quick before your brain knows your hurt I once finished with badly bruised ribs and didnt noticed I couldn't breath till I stopped at the end awesome race and video reminds me of star wars and Speeder bikes
Hahaha yes, gotta trick the body!
bkxc got that epo connection - he gets stronger at the end of races
Love the OTE javelina shirt, one of my favorite bike shops.
Yeah, I love that shirt too!!
Wiped out once when first riding on the least expecting wood feature with a slight curve, never trust them since! You handled it well, great job!
I've got trust issues!!
@@bkxc So do I, in more ways than one! :)
I dislocated my shoulder and fractured my tibula head on a slippery bridge. Those bridges get everyone!
Damn!! Brutal
Fun vid, your comments while riding make it. Lots of nice racers too. Still cant un-see how gangster you were in the Bobo "how to be a youtuber" video. That was sooo funny!
Concerning the glasses: i can recommend the Adidas Zonyk Pro with LST bright vario purple lenses. I sometimes forget them on my head when I come home, because they feel very natural for me.
Greetings from Germany !
Nice! I'll look em up
We’ve ALL been there, dude! I agree about watching your own crashes!😱😬
Awesome vid!🤟🚵♂️😎🤙
I owned a BMC Trailfox and the Rear Axle Came loose quite often aswell.
I am so glad none of my crashes on the bike or falls while running on the trails were recorded.
Nice one dude! Race hard, crash and get back on! Slick transition from the race to the vlog btw.
That guy wearing the Cheef's kit needs to be my friend.
You didn't said in the end of the video, "thanks for watching, I'll see you on the trail" :/
Gotta keep em guessing!
That's what happened to me. Fell off mid ride and still had 3 more peaks to climb and descend. Was only when I got home after a 70 min drive that my ribs felt agony. Took 10 weeks to get back on the bike. Have had one ride with McTrail rider since then. Won't be back for a proper ride till next year as I've gone back to school (to become a teacher)
Oh man, the delayed fuse on that injury!! Cool to hear you're going back to school, keep kicking ass!
You should go back to NZ and take part in the Motatapu race. You'd own everyone there easy!
That fall looked gnarly! Great riding though!
Good stuff man! Glad to see how BMC holds up. I’m sure they will see some sales from this series.
Amazing track and nature.
Hello Brian. Fine fells. The journey of this sixth day is very impressive. And dangerous bridges. Hug.
Dude! You need some Heatwave Visual Lazerface glasses. Safety rated, can’t see the frame while you wear them. 11/10 recommend!
Dude, nothing's wrong with your reaction while falling! :D When I fall I scream: "CYKA BLYAT!%^$!@^%"!!!
Mackey crashed on a wooden board thing in stage 2or3. After all there is a higher chance to crash on them and it even goes higher when wet.
Believe or not all riders have a 15-20% crashing on the wooden parts. And it jumps to 35-45% when wet.
It was the same bridge!
I guess both of you had a bad roll of the dice. I wonder what his reaction to this will be?
That trail dog of yours has done well to keep up every day and bark with enthusiasm! 😂 😂
Awoooooo!
Great Video! Man that crash sucked! I've broken/bruised my ribs a few times over the last 18 months, and even when you think you're all healed up they remind you, that you aren't 100% sucks! Video quality is on point! Are you using the Hero7? If not it's pretty dang impressive for a hero4
Hero4! All about the lighting in the forest, it's magical! Your new logo looks great!
BKXC thanks man!
Crashing always sucks but is so fun to watch😂😂😂
Next week I’m posting of video of when I fell off a bridge😂😂
Hahaha nice
Awesome footage as always , good to see Ross out on the trail & who knew you were a secret Sade fan
Hahaha, smooooooth operator
Love your videos! I enjoy it pretty much
You became a pretty good rider so far. Your skills did improve more than just a little.
Those mossy ramps are no joke.
Great riding.
Wet wood is always scary, im glad you are alright ! If you have time allways better to go and make sure its all good inside with a quick xray i'd say^^
Thanks dude!
amazing race at BC
I think It's bridge burnin time!
Hahaha!
WHAT? Vegetarian feast? A salad. Good for you. You did great. Hope your ok. Thanks very much for the video. This has been amazing.
You need to survive Brian. We all need your videos... hahaha
Ouch 🧐 when you come off 🚴 Brian 😜 👌 great stuff buddy 😉👍
That intro clip would be right at home at /r/perfectlycutscreams.
Hahaha!
When you find the right glasses let me know. I have the same issue that nothing seems quite right. Hard fall but nice come back.
🎶And I still haven't found what I'm looking for 🎶
Ugh! I did this same thing on a slippery bridge once and face-first into a pile of nettles.
Yikes!
I love the good sportsmenship
Ive noticed a lot of wooden structures in Canada don't use chicken wire/fencing.
It's not a miracle cure however it does make a difference I find.
Might be worth suggesting to the race organisers/trail builders if they can afford the upgrade?
and the demeanor that you take to the courses and rides.
0:05 😅😅😅
Love watching your progression Brian bro well done keep cycling and as we say in the UK when we crash "Sh*t Happens, dam quick recovery though. :)
Woow bro,!! You are amazing rider! Keep it safe!
"Time for some pukage" hahahahaha.
