Kind of a weird review, it didn't sound like the ultimate disappointment although you seemed quite disappointed with the price of the Caddy. Then you turned around and said you thought one might consider something from the Europeans. Well in the European category, we are looking at the the M5 or E63. Maintenance is going to be higher on the European cars and they also depreciate. I think if you want to buy American, the Caddy is an excellent choice.
It should be noted that this CTS V was a fully stripped down base model with no CF parts beside hood, no spoiler, etc. While msrp may have also been easily 100K-120K at one point with options, you can find these used for 50K and 2019’s from 73-95K at this time. They’re easily selling 10K+ under msrp for new ones right now
Nobody is spending a $100,000 on the CTS-V because they don't make them any more. And all the Mercedes you mentioned are well over $100,000 new. A Hellcat Charger?! You forgot what they cost new I guess.... To me spending $65K to 70K on a new Chevy (ZL1) is crazy.....because its a Chevy. And don't start with interiors...please.
I have a brand new 2019 V and I know it was expensive. How many Chargers do you see? How many Camaros? How about Corvettes? Now how many V's? Certainly not any and most people have no clue when they do see it. It is not the fastest car, but I tell you what, It has show and go and luxury all wrapped up in one. I absolutely disagree with most your comments but you're welcome to your opinions. Most of them IMO wrong.. Sorry, but hearing you comparing it to an ATSV is incomprehensible. BTW, I've owned 2 ATS premium cars have you? Hearing your comments about ATSV have me really wondering if you are really qualified to be be making such reviews. It appears that 90% of the replys disagree with your review. Add me to the list.
That's because they're muscle cars not luxury cars, and not everyone cares about the luxury, but the people who get the Dodge buy them for the performance for the money, I love these cts-v's and the 2012 as well, because I love the performance of them, I didn't buy my challenger for the luxury I bought it for the performance and space of them
@@JD-rn4om are they heavy yes, but doesn't mean they're the slowest thing in the planet, Dodge has always been the heaviest of Ford and Chevy, but regardless they always gave them trouble regardless, what these cars can do for what they weigh is pretty impressive, people just better hope they don't use the Alfa chassis which reduces the weight by like 500-600lbs
We get it. You don’t care for the car. The bias was evident when you didn’t even mention the very features that separate it from the pack. The ATS-V isn’t even close to this car, aside from the appearance. Comparing it to a hellcat and complaining for the money the Caddi doesn’t hold up? Its nearly the same price as a Hellcat, which is an absolute piece of junk quality wise. Complaining that you don’t like the backseat, and you’re really disappointed? Yeah, it isn’t a Maybach. Imagine how many people have turned this car down at the dealer bc the Charger has a better backseat….😒
I read since they're very limited numbers in production the value will shoot to unreal numbers in the future. I would keep it too you'll be sitting on a gold mine.
You should have used launch control for the 0-60. It work really well. It limits throttle in 1st and minimizes wheelspin. Once your in second its hooked. The paddles do suck a big one.
Reviewer bagged on CTS REAR seats. BUT WHAT HE FORGOT was his height at 5 11 made him not normal verses other people. I owned a base CTS as an Uber driver, and never got a complaint from passengers on the rear seats.
Kinda sad haha I love the CTS-V - a shame it’s a ‘let down’ for you. But I guess that’s why they make different cars, for different people. Keep up the great videos!
My wife has a cts v sport and I have a v. We looked at ats cars but they are smaller all around. We may look into an ats for our daughter, but tall people don't fit in ats cars. Our daughter is short and if my friends sit in the back they never complain about riding in a fast car. If you go on a road trip short people in back.
Digital dashes are over rated....imagine WHEN the malfuction/ break. How expensive it would be to fix/ replace. I rather have analog individual Gauges.
Vernon Price the chances of analog gauges breaking are almost 0% as they have been out forever. these shitty gm systems will break within a few years, only reason they haven’t yet is cause they are still relatively new.
That transmission delay was a main complaint in early 6th gen camaro but they said its due to it being shifted electronically and not by wire like the ZF 8 SP
just got one on Tuesday. im loving this more than my ZL1 & C7 Z51. the acceleration is bonkers. this is soooo much better than a ATS. and i love the ATS. my gf has one.
You completely down play the entire car This car is absolutely bad ass and you find the smallest things to bash on Your talking about the ATS the entire time when reviewing a cts dude who understands you, your back and forward on everything I'm definitely still going to push to buy one.
I own a 2018 and this guy is very biased in his opinions.Fact this a top of the line performance sedan 640 hp 630 ft lbs torque. And trust me a few small upgrades and this baby will jump to 730 hp like magic.
*2017 ATS-V > CTS-V3* - only 0.1 secs slower (on paper) than V3 in 0-60 runs...that is if the V3 driver doesn't just spin their tires completely off the line like Hellcats seem to do all the time - my '17 has pretty much no delay when shifting up/down when driven aggressively...if I was racing you when you tried to accelerate V3, you'd be seeing my license plate (at least for the first 80mph) - more usable power on daily roads - even w/ traction control off, both Michelin Pilot SS and my winter Blizzaks grip immediately - lighter, more nimble around corners Just my opinion/observations. The price differential is too large to justify the V3 for me, as well as worse fuel-economy and likely higher insurance payments. The ATS-V was built for me.
@@pierogiguy The ats is a very underrated car! Not your grandpaps caddy anymore! Lol Cadillac upgraded my cue so no lag there. The magnetic ride suspension is f,ing awesome! My ats is black on black on black, with oem 19's. I love this car and can't imagine the V! Lol. Should have a V by the end of summer. There is nothing that even comes close to the look of a caddy coming down the road!!! American Class!!!!
Trust me it's way better I chose white with black rims over the carbon package best decision I've made even the furniture including the ceiling was all black find 1 like that you wont regret it
Why even mention ATS V? It’s a different kind of car. Hellcat is also in a different category (4 door muscle car - the only car in its class). Compare this CTS V to E63 and M5. May not be as advanced as those cars but it’s cheaper, and doesn’t have as many electronics as Germans so it won’t break down as much. Personally I really like the way it looks and all. ATS and CTS buyers won’t be cross-shopping these two cars. You want slower, smaller and more nimble - ATS. Faster, bigger and more comfortable - CTS.
A 100K car without cooled seats WT. unacceptable and unforgivable. Should have added thats with the sport seats but I also drove this car and it’s bonkers fast and it rides well like a cadillac and it attracts a lot of attention I almost brought one but going with a 550I BMW which is faster I have to beat my buddy’s CTSV. This review is 100% spot on.
WITH ALL DUE RESPECT! One of the best reviews I’ve seen from RP in a while because he pointed out way more negatives than he usually does. I love his videos but sometimes he only points puts the positives and seems like he’s trying to win you over to buying the car. This review, he was realistic, harsher criticism and gave a lot of positive and negative facts as well as opinions. Great video man!
It may, but I was not personally going to pay an extra $5,000 just for some lower carbon fiber bits on my ATS-V, especially as the front carbon-splitter scrapes all of the time and I despise the look of the spoiler sticking up in the back. That is why I ordered from the factory with exactly what I wanted...no sunroof either -- one more thing to make noise/go wrong, and a lower center of gravity without.
I really need to test drive one. I have a 17 ATS-V sedan (9k miles) which I love! But I have always had a V8 and was considering to trade up to a CTS-V. Now you got me rethinking it lol. I work out in Spring, I should come bye and take a look 🧐.
My wife has a cts v sport and I recently got a v. They are basically the same car but the v is an animal compared to the twin turbo v6. It's like a well mannered muscle car.
Price brand new is always jacked up and if you were to compare this level of power in its class you'd end up with a BMW M5 or an E63s AMG which are cars that can exceed 100k
Alright so he was actually right about some of the points he made with comparing the ATS V and the 8 spd transmission being finicky except he was in Touring mode which isnt responsive and made for economy unless you’re in sport or track mode. Then I got to 20:08 and he says to get a hellcat charger lol. The CTS V and ATS V have both destroyed the Hellcat Challenger due to how heavy and outdated the platform is and the fact that they won’t hook. I can only imagine that the charger hellcat weighs more, so I have no idea why this reviewer would suggest that at the end of the video.
The platform is heavy yes but being heavy is as common as any other car so you can't really justify that the platform being old it isn't in anyway the same chassis that came out in 2005 but I will admit it's still based off that one
You mentioned several times how expensive you feel the CTS V IS yet you compared it to its BMW and Mercedes rivals which both cost tens of thousands more. Not quite sure I get where you’re going. It’s a performance luxury car. There will be trade offs. If the luxury components of this Caddy are a turn off, buy the Z06.
CTS-V3 vs Redeye Charger? I'd much rather have the fancier V but don't like being down 150hp from the get go with no way of eclipsing the Charger's power mod for mod. Too bad they didn't put the LT5 in V3.
@@blazerboiz5996 yes it will 🤣 there’s a video on a bone stock one going 0-190(governor) in 41 seconds. Add a good tune to it and it will most definitely hit 200 in 60 seconds
Totally agree with you on this review. Like you said for the same money the other options are better in my opinion. C63 for the interior and Hellcat Charger because Hellcat
yeah believe it or not , this car is just "slow" enough to enjoy 100% out on the streets, i probably couldn't say that about the z06.... they tuned this to be a street focused track car and it shows in the gearing, acceleration and power delivery etc.
Charger Hell Cat is for Bubba. CTS-V is for Bill! Lol! I'm kidding but not kidding. Save for wanting a powerful American vehicle, they have minimal overlap for target markets. I'd take the V any and every day. Btw, is it only me or did the review come across as though he was already somewhat biased against the car?
Great review RP! I took a new one for a test drive back in 2017. It was fully loaded with the carbon fiber exterior package and recaro seats, the sticker price I think was around a $105,000, It had pretty much every option. I feel you on the transmission for sure! If you have it in manual mode and try to up shift at redline you're pretty much guaranteed to hit the rev limiter because they're such a delay! You have to time it in order for the transmission to shift at redline you need to pull the paddle at 5500 rpm for it to shift at 6500 or whatever red line is
Brian E people stop buying a automatic and than, try to shift it. My gosh just leave it alone or go buy a stick shift car and be happy lol. These cars don’t have dual clutch transmission and be glad they don’t because than, the price would be much higher.
The ZF is 1000000x better. The 8 speed auto in this car (which is the same as in the C7's) are fucking garbage. Slow, can't find the gears, and makes the car over heat (in the corvette). The ZF is so much better. That's why other manufacturers use them. Shame on GM for putting such a shitty ass auto in the CTSV and corvette.
You drive any “High End” Mercedes, Audi or BMW OFF the Sales Lot and They ALL drop in the same proportion $$$! And the CADILLAC STILL HAS THE BETTER VALUE.
To sum it up. If you can't afford a mid-sized luxury car like a Mercedes, BMW or Audi be like Riley. Complain about the price and remind everyone that you would rather have the smaller more affordable version of this car. Not to mention the CTS-V weighs 230lbs less than a BMW M5, 411lbs less than a Mercedes AMG E63, and 434lbs less that a Challenger Hellcat. All while making 40hp more than the Germans and being $30k more affordable than them. Yes the Hellcat is a bargain on price in relation to horsepower but you are not getting the same luxury you are getting from Cadillac or the Germans. Also with a difference of only 67hp between the Cadillac and the Dodge. The CTS-V will out accelerate the SRT Hellcat because of weight difference.
I have a 2017 ATS-V bought pre-owned three years ago and I love it! I've had it in COTA and it handles really well! I wouldn't mind also having a CTS-V 3!
This thing is so insane i like it alot. But in 20 tp 25 years it wont be worth anything other then scrap price. Id hate to know i bought 1 new unless i was filthy rich.
Jesuses man !!! give it some credit. it is not coupe Camaro OR Corvette. and that's why I think its a masterpiece beautifully designed exterior . everything about it is super attractive Sedan. my only concern . is my confidence in GM. the level of integrity when they make something they don't do Reliable. the only one thing bugs me from GM/Cadillac. touch buttons 😣👎🏽 WHY Cadillac just WHY ?!!
This car is more closer to a pony car than a sports car. Sports cars anything that's rear-wheel-drive 2-seater under 2550 curb. First and third gen MR2s are sports cars, Miatas a sports car. This is just a sedan that fast. My question is what is the difference between 2016-2018 CTS-V3s and a 2019?
i think the price weighs too heavily in your review and didn't give this car a fair shake, in turn.... are you a consumer advice reviewer? didn't think so, so focus on the performance since you were grinning ;)

Ultimate let down wtf hell na dodge is a let down all they add is hp lmaooo
That's because they're muscle cars not luxury cars, and not everyone cares about the luxury, but the people who get the Dodge buy them for the performance for the money, I love these cts-v's and the 2012 as well, because I love the performance of them, I didn't buy my challenger for the luxury I bought it for the performance and space of them
Sahota Gaming they got the same body style after like 5 years 😂 land 🛥
@@JD-rn4om are they heavy yes, but doesn't mean they're the slowest thing in the planet, Dodge has always been the heaviest of Ford and Chevy, but regardless they always gave them trouble regardless, what these cars can do for what they weigh is pretty impressive, people just better hope they don't use the Alfa chassis which reduces the weight by like 500-600lbs
@@MrFpsdestroyer Mopar is very respectable in my book. I personally am a GM guy, but I appreciate many cars.
@@ryansmotorsports2199 I'm the same way, but mostly lean towards mopar, like I said though I'd love one of these newer cts-v's, not for new though
A V3 is overkill? This coming from a guy that has own like 3 hellcats? LMFAO contradiction is real
People are too fucking lazy to close the trunk lmaoooooo
V3 over Hellcat all day! I am a bit bias though 🤷🏽♂️
I’d pick the v3 over hellcat any day too. Hellcats are too overrated along with some of the jdms and other GM cars.
I love the sleeper look of the CTS & ATS V's.
Only people who know, know.
I plan on keeping my 2017 ATS-V forever.
I know everyone loves white and black for these but for me the Bronze Sand Metallic is such a head turner, I think that’s what I’d go with.
Reviewer bagged on CTS REAR seats. BUT WHAT HE FORGOT was his height at 5 11 made him not normal verses other people. I owned a base CTS as an Uber driver, and never got a complaint from passengers on the rear seats.
Did he say a Charger Hellcat????😂😂😂
Hmmm worst sales pitch ever lol
honesty
I just bought one - its an amazing machine. Why would your dealership allow you to post a negative review of their vehicle - seems unusual?
They didn’t know 😭😂
Definitely went into this negatively, what did caddy ever do to you? Ever other review I’ve seen RAVES about it on its fun and practicality.
They fired him probably 😂
One of the few GM cars I like
your not supposed to shift after hitting the rev limiter. That delay is a safety future to not break the gearbox since you dont know how to drive
Everyone would prefer analog it's just manufacturers force these things down our throat
1. Can you provide even one example of a CTS-V's digital gauge cluster breaking?
2. Do you think analog gauges can't break?
Vernon Price the chances of analog gauges breaking are almost 0% as they have been out forever. these shitty gm systems will break within a few years, only reason they haven’t yet is cause they are still relatively new.
@@blazerboiz5996 you've obviously never heard of the stepper motor issues nearly every early 2000s GM car was plagued with
That transmission delay was a main complaint in early 6th gen camaro but they said its due to it being shifted electronically and not by wire like the ZF 8 SP
I have a CTS-V 2017. EPIC CAR. Much better then any charger or challenger, had a hellcat and now i have cts-v
A ctsv Is for the guy that has style but wants a fast car plus hellcats are a bit played out now and they look is dated !!!
just got one on Tuesday. im loving this more than my ZL1 & C7 Z51. the acceleration is bonkers. this is soooo much better than a ATS. and i love the ATS. my gf has one.
You’re reviewing the basic cts v no carbon fiber package, recaro seats! I’d be disappointed too
That shift “lag” is called redline. LOL! It’s a 8-speed to it reaches redline before you can react.
Who would buy an ATS over the CTS
Apparently this dumb a**
You completely down play the entire car
This car is absolutely bad ass and you find the smallest things to bash on
Your talking about the ATS the entire time when reviewing a cts dude who understands you, your back and forward on everything
I'm definitely still going to push to buy one.
I own a 2018 and this guy is very biased in his opinions.Fact this a top of the line performance sedan 640 hp 630 ft lbs torque. And trust me a few small upgrades and this baby will jump to 730 hp like magic.
Really struggling to decide whether this car or a gtr
The headlights turn as ur car turns and the hidden launch mode makes it ridiculous... LUV THIS CAR
*2017 ATS-V > CTS-V3*
- only 0.1 secs slower (on paper) than V3 in 0-60 runs...that is if the V3 driver doesn't just spin their tires completely off the line like Hellcats seem to do all the time
- my '17 has pretty much no delay when shifting up/down when driven aggressively...if I was racing you when you tried to accelerate V3, you'd be seeing my license plate (at least for the first 80mph)
- more usable power on daily roads
- even w/ traction control off, both Michelin Pilot SS and my winter Blizzaks grip immediately
- lighter, more nimble around corners
Just my opinion/observations. The price differential is too large to justify the V3 for me, as well as worse fuel-economy and likely higher insurance payments. The ATS-V was built for me.
ATS V uses same transmission as CTS V
I love the atsv! Also more affordable. I have an ats 3.6 premium with performance package, 2015. Soon to trade in on the v!
My literal dream car!! Although, if I ever get one, it needs to be white and have a wing!
Trust me it's way better I chose white with black rims over the carbon package best decision I've made even the furniture including the ceiling was all black find 1 like that you wont regret it
Mr. Wallace this sounds awesome!
Nicer than a charger.
Wayyy nicer then a charger
He seems to be hating from the beginning, how can u compare a Chrysler to a cadillac?
A v3 at 50k is amazing. A new one at 100k no way.
The only "Let Downs" here are the reviewer and lack of a manual V3.
Seems like he went into this review already not wanting to like this car. It’s a great car.
You can find them for 50K and you do have cooled seats unless you get the recaro racing seats
The standard seats are cooled and heated, the recaro ones are heated. I love mine and traded a Hellcat
Yea but put of all cars he picks this one to nit pick I found it odd and me personally I feel like he was forcing his self maybe he wasn't though
He sure does have a lot of giggles for him not to like it though.
The carbon package looks better
I'm still going to buy one
Love them🥰only thing I don't like about mine is it doesn't have a sunroof😏
Price brand new is always jacked up and if you were to compare this level of power in its class you'd end up with a BMW M5 or an E63s AMG which are cars that can exceed 100k
I've seen both the CTS-V and ATS-V in blue and the exterior looks beautiful!
Everybody has a flat bottom steering wheel...round bottoms are special now
Glad you aren't a CTS-V owner.
Alot to complain about but every time he hits the gas.... BIG SMILE.
This thing was meant to eat M5 comps. And it accomplished that amazingly.
Dude I couldn’t even make it past 3 minutes your whole review is straight bs🤣🤣🤣🤣the whole world knows the CTS-V is a true sport luxury sedan
should I trade mine for a Hellcat??
RP when are you getting your C8 vette?
A few weeks
About time, welcome back 👌🏽
I wonder what engineer drove any GM product with the 8L90 transmission and thought it was acceptable to sell to the public
i mean this drivetrain will get you to 200 mph in less than a minute so thats something lol
kelson this car does not go 0-200 in less than a minute my guy😭
@@blazerboiz5996 ok heres one barely broken in going 188 , close enough for me
ruclips.net/video/LsII9-c0k5c/видео.html
@@blazerboiz5996 yes it will 🤣 there’s a video on a bone stock one going 0-190(governor) in 41 seconds. Add a good tune to it and it will most definitely hit 200 in 60 seconds
7:59 he looks kinda pissed off🤔
Lol
Totally agree with you on this review. Like you said for the same money the other options are better in my opinion. C63 for the interior and Hellcat Charger because Hellcat
I feel like 640 hp is a perfect amount of “unnecessary” power. If it came with 850 stock then I would say it’s probably actually too much.
yeah believe it or not , this car is just "slow" enough to enjoy 100% out on the streets, i probably couldn't say that about the z06.... they tuned this to be a street focused track car and it shows in the gearing, acceleration and power delivery etc.
Here's the thing. Would you want a lexus gs f or a cts v as a long term luxury v8 sedan?
The ls serious is far far better than a really nice Toyota
GS f is hilariously user powered
if paddles aren’t shifting fast enough just put it in drive lol
Keep using fingers as a unit of measure. lol.
All of this from a test drive?
I would buy a Corvette before I would a CTSV.
Roy Kindrick 110%
How does this transmission compare to the ZF in the Chargers?
Jochen Heiden I prefer the ZF 8 Speeds personally
The ZF is 1000000x better. The 8 speed auto in this car (which is the same as in the C7's) are fucking garbage. Slow, can't find the gears, and makes the car over heat (in the corvette). The ZF is so much better. That's why other manufacturers use them. Shame on GM for putting such a shitty ass auto in the CTSV and corvette.
You drive any “High End” Mercedes, Audi or BMW OFF the Sales Lot and They ALL drop in the same proportion $$$! And the CADILLAC STILL HAS THE BETTER VALUE.
not any better than shit benzs and beamers
I would like to compare the ats-v and Honda accord sport2.0 and the Acura tlx spec A
Edit: also compared a 2013 CT’s-v with a 2016 CT’s-v
I have ctsv take the atsv on a 7 hour ride bet you don't like the cockpit then no room at all for comfort unless your small framed
I love it my boy riley and keep up the work and love video and I love CTS-V my favorite car lot real true💯💯💯💯
If that's your boy he needs a new hobby cuz he don't know shit when it comes to cars
i think the price weighs too heavily in your review and didn't give this car a fair shake, in turn.... are you a consumer advice reviewer? didn't think so, so focus on the performance since you were grinning ;)
Wow now that cars worth 90 lol. I looked at a few used one today in the 70s with 30kish miles lol
Everyone that knows about that that hidden area likes it.
As far as back seats. The Ats is terrible for a rear facing carseat.
Hey welcome back
