    I'm currently shopping around for one. Quite frankly, the CTS-V looks WAAAAY better than the ATS-V, which is the most important aspect of any car, imo.

    • @MrDowden33
      @MrDowden33 2 года назад +2

      They are almost identical other than the front fender brake vents... I just sold my ATS-V and bought a CTS-V3 and my ATS-V was FAR more sexy than my new CTS-V... But ATS-V was red and V3 is black so it hides the lines. But I'm getting the CTS-V wrapped next month.

    Your review seems really bias based on the price of the vehicle. It seems to really turn you off on the car & thats fine, your titled to your opinion. Its like your not even trying! Lol like who just stomps on a gas pedal with a car that's rwd & over 600hp & expect it to hook! I've seen your videos with the hellcats. Its not as fast in a straight line not as good on some things but its a Luxury sports car. It's meant to be more of a track sedan! Which actually keeps up with or even better than some of this cars new competitors. Its like 400lbs lighter than its competitors. Thats what the car is for & what your paying for. Js.

      Honestly a Charger Hellcat is a more comfortable car to drive their seats are literally couches, and as far as Cadillac premium features go you’re not missing out on much in a Dodge, Cadillac has a terrible interface and backup camera. I am over 50 and own a White CTS-V 2016. This is not a practical car. It is not meant to be a practical even though you can drive it as a daily driver. It is meant to be fast with luxurious features and it's target market is for mature men that have made it and want a trophy. I am not a BMW or Mercedes man and none of my friends that own a high performance European car would ever consider my car. I like the ATS-V, (coupe). The sedan to me it is a child's car because of it's size an seeming lack of Interior sophistication. Every car does not need a big V-8. I love and adore the tt V6. It is an incredible engine. It's quick, quiet and quite capable. May I also add that we track our cars. I have 43,000 miles on my car. The rest of my guys (all of them that drive European cars) Mercedes, BMW, Maserati and an Alfa's have ALL had problems with overheating and throttle body issues. They all have fewer miles than my car. Only the porsche ( a Panemara) and the Audi (an A-8) have had no mechanical problems ( just bushings on the Porsche.) My car eats tires for breakfast but otherwise it is a fantastic car. It's not the most sophisticated and it's not for everybody but given the lack of problems, foreseeable problems, bang for the buck, the ability to hold the road and it's value for years on in, as well as the attention it draws, not to mention the smile it still puts on my face when I press the start button,😃I choose the Cadillac CTS-V again and again. (Sorry got carried away.)

    • @timw2083
      @timw2083 4 года назад +1

      Great comment.. I have a Hellcat and selling it and getting either a CTS-V or LC500. The only European cars that I'd consider would be the E63 Wagon or RS7. The ATS-V is simply too close in size to my Stinger GT, which is my daily. The CT5 just hasn't won me over yet.

    • @drecha7610
      @drecha7610 4 года назад +2

      Agreed Tim. On the CT5 and CT5-V.. Hate to say it but I will not be going to the Cadillac dealership for anything new for a while. Something in the bean counting department has destroyed where the car Cadillac company was on it's way to. They have destroyed the V moniker by putting it on a 355 plus hp sedan that doesn't even deserve the V-Sport moniker. Lost opportunity.

      Finally someone that actually owns and understands...I salute you Mr. Wallace! Seems like everyone else just reads magazines watches reviews and pretends like they're an expert based on others opinions, makes me sick. Not to mention almost every ATS-V that is reviewed on RUclips is the original 2016MY, and every complaint seems remedied on my car for the time my '17MY was built. The only negatives I have regard Cadillac's choice to use the shiny black plastic for CUE (what I would give to have the material used on my 2009 CTS) and the fact their is no heated steering wheel or cooled/ventilated seats, specially the Recaros.

    Sorry, but hearing you comparing it to an ATSV is incomprehensible. BTW, I've owned 2 ATS premium cars have you? Kind of a weird review, it didn't sound like the ultimate disappointment although you seemed quite disappointed with the price of the Caddy. Then you turned around and said you thought one might consider something from the Europeans. Well in the European category, we are looking at the the M5 or E63. The performance gains you will get with those cars is going negligible at best in my opinion (with a non-professional driver) and they are even more expensive than the Caddy. Maintenance is going to be higher on the European cars and they also depreciate. I think if you want to buy American, the Caddy is an excellent choice.

    *2017 ATS-V > CTS-V3*
    - only 0.1 secs slower (on paper) than V3 in 0-60 runs...that is if the V3 driver doesn't just spin their tires completely off the line like Hellcats seem to do all the time
    - my '17 has pretty much no delay when shifting up/down when driven aggressively...if I was racing you when you tried to accelerate V3, you'd be seeing my license plate (at least for the first 80mph)
    - more usable power on daily roads
    - even w/ traction control off, both Michelin Pilot SS and my winter Blizzaks grip immediately
    - lighter, more nimble around corners
    Just my opinion/observations. The price differential is too large to justify the V3 for me, as well as worse fuel-economy and likely higher insurance payments. The ATS-V was built for me.

      The ZF is 1000000x better. The 8 speed auto in this car (which is the same as in the C7's) are fucking garbage. Slow, can't find the gears, and makes the car over heat (in the corvette). The ZF is so much better. That's why other manufacturers use them. Shame on GM for putting such a shitty ass auto in the CTSV and corvette.

    Great review RP! I took a new one for a test drive back in 2017. It was fully loaded with the carbon fiber exterior package and recaro seats, the sticker price I think was around a $105,000, It had pretty much every option. I feel you on the transmission for sure! If you have it in manual mode and try to up shift at redline you're pretty much guaranteed to hit the rev limiter because they're such a delay! You have to time it in order for the transmission to shift at redline you need to pull the paddle at 5500 rpm for it to shift at 6500 or whatever red line is

      It may, but I was not personally going to pay an extra $5,000 just for some lower carbon fiber bits on my ATS-V, especially as the front carbon-splitter scrapes all of the time and I despise the look of the spoiler sticking up in the back. Alright so he was actually right about some of the points he made with comparing the ATS V and the 8 spd transmission being finicky except he was in Touring mode which isnt responsive and made for economy unless you’re in sport or track mode. Then I got to 20:08 and he says to get a hellcat charger lol. The CTS V and ATS V have both destroyed the Hellcat Challenger due to how heavy and outdated the platform is and the fact that they won’t hook. I can only imagine that the charger hellcat weighs more, so I have no idea why this reviewer would suggest that at the end of the video.

    • @tylercouture216
      @tylercouture216 4 года назад

      The platform is heavy yes but being heavy is as common as any other car so you can't really justify that the platform being old it isn't in anyway the same chassis that came out in 2005 but I will admit it's still based off that one

    To sum it up. If you can't afford a mid-sized luxury car like a Mercedes, BMW or Audi be like Riley. Complain about the price and remind everyone that you would rather have the smaller more affordable version of this car. Not to mention the CTS-V weighs 230lbs less than a BMW M5, 411lbs less than a Mercedes AMG E63, and 434lbs less that a Challenger Hellcat. All while making 40hp more than the Germans and being $30k more affordable than them. Yes the Hellcat is a bargain on price in relation to horsepower but you are not getting the same luxury you are getting from Cadillac or the Germans. Also with a difference of only 67hp between the Cadillac and the Dodge. The CTS-V will out accelerate the SRT Hellcat because of weight difference.

      The stock cold air honestly is probably good enough. I'd just get an upgraded exhaust and you can tune it if you want, but it's gonna have more than enough power stock! With the supercharger setup it's not going to be easy to get a lot more hp with a tune compared to a turbo setup.

    Why even mention ATS V? It’s a different kind of car. Hellcat is also in a different category (4 door muscle car - the only car in its class). Compare this CTS V to E63 and M5. May not be as advanced as those cars but it’s cheaper, and doesn’t have as many electronics as Germans so it won’t break down as much. Personally I really like the way it looks and all. ATS and CTS buyers won’t be cross-shopping these two cars. You want slower, smaller and more nimble - ATS. Faster, bigger and more comfortable - CTS.
