- I stuck a great big aero port into one of the 6x9 boxes and it didn't sound half bad.
In reference to the kicks and to be fair, maybe I don't have those higher freq kicks in my library.

When I was young my friend Johnny had a box that took up a entire wall in his room with a bunch of 6x9’s and 4 12”s it was insanely huge sounded awesome whole house shook.

Hahaha I have 7000w rms going to the subs in my car that's not to mention the two 4 channel amps I have as well
That’s the same design I’m using in my vehicle. I have a 15 inch Sundown subwoofer in a small enclosure but with a 80 inch long tube curved inside it which is tuned down to 16hz approximately. It’s the best way to get very low tuning without having to resort on a huge enclosure.
Why 16hz ? You cant hear it.
Oliver Vesely it’s more for the vibrations than anything........ I think
@ *Oliver Vesely*
You can if you are tuned low enough. By the way, I had a vehicle of which The roof flexed a lot and any frequency below 25 Hz was almost inaudible. But the vehicle I have now has a glass roof top and the frequencies that were very low that I couldn’t hear now they’re solid and pulsate my ears down to 10hz.
i hear...
*someting long!?!?!?!*
maybe...
*i knew that*
you did nothing i said!
CoreGMR how high are you to type something like that? You clearly smoked a Q
That wall got me
I learn a lot from your "silly" videos. Thank You very much.
can you add different tuning ports into the same box?
I always enjoyed every bit of your video. There is something going on rather than the main video itself like the editing of the wall w/c was an extra addition of entertainment for me. :D greetings and best regards to you and pancake! :)
Love ur vids
Transmission line and tapped horn enclosures are among my favorite in ported types.
TL is cool technology. Does anyone remember a slim box called The Mouse or PowerMouse? Old school like late 80s early 90s i think
Dude great vid! I’ll definitely be doing this !
I have a newer truck with 10" excelon (KFC‑XW1000F) in a box that's about .45 sq ft in each compartment. I drive them with a 2000w kenwood (KAC-9106D). What steps should I take to tune them to an existing bose system? I tapped into the rear door speakers via a LC2 (AudioControl LC2i).
Well done
Older Rockford fosgate speakers back in the mid 90’s had the T/S parameters listed and using term-pro at the time I’m pretty sure the specs for a killer ported 6 x 9 box (sounded close to entry level 10’s for sound characteristics) was 2.25 cubic feet with a port that was 3” x 3” x 3” long cubed. Huge box, but it impressed an incredible amount of people. To be honest about 1 cubic foot sealed per 6 x 9 actually sounded quite pleasant as well.
This is about right for two speakers, and gives a tuning about 45 Hz. Plenty for general purpose 6 x 9.
ive just put a 2 way set of small bookshelf speakers i made on my parcel shelf and in the boot i got a lanzar 15 inch sub and a 15 inch passive radiator and it sounds great
ported boxes tend to have less excursive movement than sealed boxes in my experience. Much different sound too, but that's the point. I've had sealed single and dual 12" boxes outperform vented boxes before, so there's a time and place for everything. Very interesting to see how a 50" port works!!
Bullshit a ported box will always be louder. Assuming all other things are equal.
below port tuning the speaker moves more, though at the port tuning the driver excursion is less, and above the port tuning it's about equal to sealed.
Yes, below the tuning frequency the port unloads the speaker diaphragm, big pa systems witn ported boxes need big eq cuts under their tunimg freq so they don't over excurse.
No offense but in most cases a ported box will have more excurtion usually if the bass frequency is under 50 to 70 hz then there is no air restriction so it gets better excurtion but if the bass is over 70 the sealed box acts as a stronger spider and will give it better excurtion I have tested and tried a lot
A properly built ported box will always outperform a properly built sealed box, and a bandpass will always beat a ported box, especially a 6th order
could you do a video explaining the basics of how boxes play into sound quality and why ported boxes are known for being louder etc...
the beat sounds good
Left hand gesture game on point. lol
Left box is ported for sure
All the other kids with the pumped up kickss

your custom box was the one in the right... by the way, love ur videos mate. U are THE BOSS
That little tune is stuck in my head wtf
Lol I have a set up in my pickup truck (lorrie?) which is a single cab. I had an old system from my car I was hoping so salvage but alas couldn’t fit two tens kicker comps behind the seats without losing my center console (much rather remove that and put in a bigger sub that takes more power in a sealed box) so instead I got 2 6” bass tubes and called it a day. With this tubes I found a thing I’d been missing my whole life, which was the fabled and missed MID BASS that is overlooked most of the time. So me being the reasonable person I was decided to set amplifier low pass to 80 rather than 120 (got tired of hearing mid bass take over my listening experience) and even had to use ye old fashioned equalizer to drop the 60-200 hz to a bearable listening experience. So now I finally have the pure bass subs I want with subtle mid bass thrown in there (lpf mainly work for high frequencies ig) so now lesson learned. Don’t go for 6” subs unless you’re using a pro set up like Justin prices work truck (6 6” subs sundown audios with a custom ported box and lots of power)
what would happen with that port and a passive radiator on the back ?
@@BrandinDanesi some Philips wOOx speakers also had ports, I always wondered how they work...

Okay I don't care what anybody says seeing that speaker move like that is cool can you do more videos showing that
Two....... This is actually a nice program, if I tell it, nobody has done such of an in depth analysis on by 9s......very interesting. I'm enjoying this. 4 of my cars has by 9s in them and I've always tried to get the most from them. Like you said 100hz and up are easy..... The trick is to get lower end in the "free air" style most car manufacturers design them. I can think of a few rides that had stock systems that got lows but not very loud, I'm aware that this is studio environment talk and test but automotive wise, loosely I try different methods to enhance the low end performance without compromising space.. Sometimes I wanna ride without subs but get a bit more than the "thump" they give.. Lol, I could go on and on..... I done.
rome seveneightsixnine you’d have to get a separate box that is tuned to lower frequencies to just hear the bass, otherwise you may want to look into higher power speakers with a stereo amp to pair up with them. Probably would not regret the latter
That beat 👌🏾💨💨💨💨💨 nice video bro
thanks bro, Growers Luv to you
Quite a silly video! I love it!
Years ago I knew someone that had alpine subs that were 6x9 was in an old MK2 cavalier Sri.
A while back my dad said they had 6 alpine subs in him and his brothers room lol
#bestRUclipseeerrrrrrrrrrrrrr
Wich software is that?
The right box is ported because it moves more because more air can get to it
i know that they might be fine from 30hz to 45hz because if you think about it they have the ruber surround vs most pro audio midbass speaker have a cloth surround im not sure you know what i mean. now the rason i would stik above the 55 or 60 hz on this 6x9 they migh be going all the way up to 3.5khz and thats a lot of movement to make and at the same time trying to make a 30hz tone migh not handle much power and sound good
6x9 speakers basicly need the same port size and lenght as a decent 8inch subwoofer has, because most 6x9 are free air speakers and cant perform wel on lower hz in small cabinets and non or tiny ports they need alot room to breathe.
(yeah i tested alot of speakers in the past mostly car and hifi speakers in different cabinets port tunings and offcourse cleanest of all no ports, but high power usage.)
Try this for fun if you want, 6x9 in a prefab sealed/or ported box for a 10inch subwoofer by cutting out a board from mdf and place it infront of the 10inch hole from the subwoofer cabinet, cutout the hole for the 6x9 on the mdf board and you are done (i did this sort of thing alot) if you choose a sealed one you can add your own ports
I like the home protection system beside the door there a baseball bat and a hammer.👍
I also have an 9 inch cleaver ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Almost bought a machete once for the fun of it. Just glad I live in a good area.
You need 1m more subs
the best
Does that driver have Qts parameter suitable for a bass reflex setup?
nope
As a youngster I put a by 9 (6x9) in a 12" old school "fisher audio" house cabinet enclosure and it produced the same amount of bass as the 12" if not more.... This was way before any knowledge of what audio stuff, just playin around.....
playing around with speakers as a kid was always fun and a good way to learn stuff for sure
My Stoner Mind ........lol, dude..... I was fabin enclosures from cups to whatever I could cut a hole in-to.... Figuring out how to hooking up speaker wire to my .........Walkman output headphone jacks to some speaker out of a old clock radio........like I said I could go all day....
defo better with the long port in.
Nice video But i dont understand How you get the 6x9 to move so mucht
Right one
50 inch port, what is it tuned to, 3hz? cool video
The right one
Left. Its hitting its resonate frequency causing it to (fight) the air being pushed through the port.
It's that closer to a transmission line? There's probably more volume in the lort than the enclosure lol
damn that not weird at all ,that sound dope you should make a song out of it
Id go with left the more movement
Folded horn enclosure please. Great vids. The type of enclosure that I’m recommending will really do what you want with the bass with a smaller footprint
The problem with the folded horn and transmission line designs is that they are not very forgiving and need to be designed specifically for the drivers being used, among other requirements.
True they are much more difficult than just adding a port. Thanks for replying to my comment either way. And again great videos very enjoyable and fun to watch. Subscribed now!
Please make a bigger box! I've just bought these boxes, been very underwhelmed with the performance, is like to see what the best size is really
7 comments you know when your early when you see that
of course I enjoyed you wrecking people who know absolutely no idea what there talking about
If I were to put a bigger bassport, can that improve the bass?
there's a bunch of varying factors involved but your bass would *change* for sure. Learn box port tuning and you'll figure it out eventually.
@@MyStonerMind420 thanks, I got a Logitech z333 with 30watt sub and would a little more bass. I'm new into this so thanks haha ❤️
The right 1 was ported. Cause it moves a lot more freely than the other 1
Toyoto twin cam's loved 6x9
Err, PORT makes it sound better AND less flexing of the CONE & SURROUND means vastly increased life span for the WOOFER.
Thats a WIN! WIN! Combination.
ONE CDN: Enclosure size and space many times make this a far less viable option.
Maybe put a 180 degree bend in the port?
I had a friend that had 4 free air 6x9 subs in a Camaro so they faced up towards the glass and they slammed for 1992 at least I remember it that way
nice

btw i need that test track so badly lol
if you look hard enough you might find it, but it might not be quite what you expected
i have 6x9s in a horn loaded enclosure, and they sound much deeper
Sweeet video
Slot ported .6 cuft enclosures shouldn't take up much space. I think my Paradigm's are pretty close to that size and they get down to 40hz.
How about making a proper ported enclosure?
How's about a larger box but slot ported for even more efficiency
get a single 6x9 get your SMD subwoofer box and make a spacer to fit the 6x9 in it. see how that sounds.
I want that song !
Song name at the end?😅 it's so cool😁
I bet the volume was advertised as both boxes combined lol
Right box
Should just make the 6x9 boxes taller and port inside the box. Would still fit on your stands then
The left box is ported
Nah it was the right it moved a lot more if u have a ported speaker you can cover up the port while playing bass tones and it will move less uncover it and it will move more at least in my experience
my subwoofer takes it as with the 50 port it makes the bass so much crisper
Is the box really waving in real or not, I think not
by the way dude i like your voice :D
lol why?

When i was waiting for my new sub to come in i put the 6x9 in a box meant for a 8 inch sub and it performed wonderfully. It was over powered of course but it did sound good playing notes below 30 Hertz.

PVC with PVC with conectors
right box obvs ported ll

Left is Ported. The port reduces the excursion around the tuning.
Under the tuning it should anyways move alot.
The long port with the low tuning will ensure a massive excursion peak between 40-60hz

if it's portable, you're not really going to get much bass unless it's big, powerful and has a few drivers. The best way to get low bass is to just get a subwoofer, once you do you won't look back.
@@MyStonerMind420 I obviously have a subwoofer of 5 inch it would really be good and easy for me to show and explain you what I made and what problems I'm having with it ... without any means to contact you personally like in Facebook WhatsApp or Gmail it'd be really difficult for us both ... please would you like to help me by sharing your knowledge you've gathered these years ... as I've said I'm just a student of electronics of 2nd year ...

It doesn't matter to me what year of electronics you are in. If you have a subwoofer you should be able to get low bass, but you can't because you need a subwoofer of at least 8 inches, 5 is barely bigger than the drivers you're already using. If you insist on remaining portable, get a jbl extreme or something similar.
@@MyStonerMind420 just suggest me some way to get good 5 inch radiator maybe the cabinet I made for a 5 inch sub along with 2 mid drives and 2 tweeters is a bit small ... I'm pretty sure radiators will fix my problem ... but I can't get those in India ... will a ported subwoofer give outdoor low bass ??
