- An opinion reporter for Metro UK has sparked outrage after writing a piece called ‘Sorry straight white men, Doctor Who was never made just for you’.
The writer goes on to say that not everyone is enjoying a ‘boldly queer’, Black Doctor Who.
A group of outspoken individuals on social media, commonly referred to as keyboard warriors, expressed their discontent by asserting that the show had become excessively "woke."
Talk’s Mike Graham is joined by Rafe Heydel-Mankoo, who argues that ‘wokeism’ is being “forced down our throat”.

Dr who was destroyed by the well known openly gay chappie who just had to keep pushing his sexual preferences at each and every opportunity, even to the point of it had nothing to do with the storyline. Unfortunately the writer(s) had the same outlook on life. This had now spiralled well out of control and decency. Stopped watching it shortly after JB left the script, hoping it would regain some semblance of order, but it just got worse. Bye bye, not coming back.

I switched off two years ago. I never switched back on and the tv has now gone. I don’t miss the moralisers, the hectoring, or shouting at the screen. Life is calmer, I get more done.

I decided not to watch it, but switched the tv on about 15 minutes before Eurovision. I had it on silent and watched a ridiculous song and dance scene. It's jumped the shark. Even my Doctor Who obsessive youngest daughter didn't bother on Saturday and still hasn't watched it on catch-up. I won't be bothering again.

I was talking to Tom a few days ago.Still going strong and enjoys a walk around his town nearly every day. Still a very striking figure. A few years ago I had a bizarre experience, discussing fish recipes with Jan Francis and Tom in the supermarket.
Quite surreal, but an excellent fish dish suggestion.

I started watching Doctor Who in the Jon Pertwee era and as far as I'm concerned the last decent Doctor was played by Peter Capaldi. Jodi Whittaker and Ncuti Gatwa are absolutely atrocious in the role and with the writing and show runners being so woke recently it's pushed all the traditional fans away.
Having watched DR Who from its first inception, it’s now a complete load of woke garbage no longer worth watching. Never again, lost cause.
That Metro headline is disgusting. It’s clear this writer has her own agenda not based on anything factual at all. Doctor Who wasn’t JUST meant for straight white men. Nor was it meant for gay/bi/trans/plus… people. Identy was NEVER an issue with Doctor Who when it was created - or through the majority of its 60+ year run. It’s only with the upsurge of “woke” ideology - and pandering to that ideology - that everything has turned to crap. It WAS a fun, thrilling sci-fi show. Now it’s a flag waving lecture exercise…and is haemorrhaging viewers as a result.

I watched the first episode. I'd just come in from my Saturday job which started early so I was home early. It was wonderful but I am a white straight male. So when and how did race and gender take over completely?
It's a children's show. It's always been inclusive. The dr literally love's everyone and tries to save everyone. There were also a few lgbtq characters in the original series. The only thing that's changed is people getting over sensitive about people who aren't like them. Get over yourselves.
Looking back now, I remember how amazing it was; a new genre of childrens TV. It is now clearly NOT a programme to watch. Typical BBC car crash.
Russell T Davies proved that age cancels all talent. He has lost it. His scripts are rubbish now.

Re Doctors. I used to watch it until about 18 months ago. I got sick of BBC preaching about the trans claptrap. One episode had the nurse sitting everyone down at lunchtime and giving them a lecture on what all the different flags mean!

Gave up when 2 "males" were discussing the joys of HS for about 5 mins. It had absolutely nothing to do with either the script that week, nor the ethos of Dr Who.
Doctors has always been embarrassingly sh1te before the "woke" stuff... Sometimes back in the day I'd accidentally leave BBC on in the background and I could always tell from another room if it was doctors on just from the bad acting.
The Doctor used to fight evil, now he's written by the sort of brainwashed dictators that he'd fight tooth and claw to depose. It's a sad decline of a witty, spooky series that had its heyday in the 1960s and 70s when smarter, more creative people were in charge.

I've been a Dr Who fan since the very first series with William Hartnell. Over that time I've enjoyed most of the episodes since then but there have been a few silly plotlines (mostly during Judi Whittaker's tenure). Overall well worth the many years of my unstinting devotion. But I sat through the first 15 mins of Space Babies then switched off. It was silly and childish (no pun intended). It was the first time since 23 November 1963 that I've switched off a DW episode. Nothing to do with wokery or LGBTQ+ (I am a gay man by the way). The Doctor should be flying through space and time saving the underdog, righting wrongs, saving planets from destruction, protecting friendly aliens and despatching villains and monsters. It was just embarrassing, daft and juvenile...!!

I haven't watched Dr Who since Matt Smith left. And that was on DVD. I haven't watched live TV for 15 years because I refuse to pay the licence fee, sorry, BBC tax. I will not pay for a service I do not want or need. It's about time this hated out of date subscription was no more.
I have to admit to sometimes watching Doctor Who out a a morbid fascination to see just how bad it now is. Not only is the Doctor now black and homosexual, but the storylines become ever more farcical, even when one thinks that they can't get any worse. I suspect that even most kids would be acutely embarrassed to claim authorship of these stories.
I saw the very first broadcast episode of DW and have followed it ever since, so I feel entitled to comment on the recent parlours state of the show since Chibnall’s disastrous tenure. The arrogance of these people is staggering, they preach to us about how we should live when they are barely out of nappies with sod all life experience. The utter contempt with which longstanding fans have been treated is shameful, we supported DW for literally decades, and yet we are being told we are irrelevant dinosaurs and instead this show now needs to pander to these ridiculous ideologies that have no basis in science or fact. I used to say one of the few things I would take to the streets to protect is the BBC, well guess what, I couldn’t care if it burned to the ground now, what a tragic demise.

In the 60s Dr Who was for many kids was the TV. highlight of the week. This was in black and white and with very basic special effects.
And it was scary then. Daleks gave me nightmares. But I loved it. Tried to watch it a couple of times when it returned to our screens but it seemed to be set on earth and there were no monsters. Or was I missing something?
Great stories in the 60s, actors of the calibre of Troughton and Hartnell along with wonderful conceived enemies like daleks and cybermen. This was great drama that got kids hiding behind sofas.
In all the years I’ve been watching Dr Who and I’ve been watching since the mid 70’s, I don’t think the Doctors sexual orientation has ever been mentioned, probably because it has nothing to do with the show.

This all started with James Bond. If they introduced Idris Elba as the new James Bond on a speedboat down the Thames most people would not bat an eye. It would be just as dramatic as Daniel Craig being blonde, which was very controversial at the time. He would have smashed the role. The problem we have is the virtue signalling. It's boring.

The issue is that previously the Doctor may well have been gay or whatever, but it was never discussed, because, well why would it need to be? The difference is now the writers seem to feel the need to make it abundantly clear, and actually by drawing attention to it constantly, achieves the opposite of what they hope.

Have not watched Dr Who since David Tennant left. It was ridiculous to change the gender of the Doctor. It made me so angry and I am a woman ! xx
