This is my favorite performance of this music. As a child I loved the orchestral version. When I was older I became enamored with the original (piano) presentation, and listened to many different recordings searching for my favorite. When I found this video - I knew my search was over! 💖 This piece demands unbridled passion and it was indeed performed with unbridled passion - yet always under control (though perhaps barely under control? ... which is not meant to be a criticism, but rather a glowing compliment!!!!)

I'm just impressed by listening to his work on her performance with incomparable talent .
This is a requiem from Mussorgsky's deep love and sorrow for his late friend .

Only a truly great pianist can play like this, with such assurance as to put aside all inhibition, unleashing the wild fury of Baba Yaga and the immense power and grandeur of the Great Gates. This must rank among the best performances of Moussorgsky's work.

i have been listening to others of this, including Kissin, and i can only say the abandon, unleashed power of Sofi's performance here is the as good as any i have heard Ever. This is genius, and to think she was self-taught. She has not posted a video in 8 months, i can only hope that means she has gotten a tour or recording contract. This is an extraordinary talent that demands recognition. i grew up with a talented sister pianist-she was good.Sofi here has touched greatness.Max

A Beautiful perfomamace Barisof!, the crazy sadness at the beginning, kinda reflects the current state of affairs in our world, the Earth and its nautral life giving harmonious beauty vs man and his out of control disharmony / enviromental destruction, no matter what we do to plant Earth, it will recover even if it means our removal but the harmonious beauty of nature will remain just like your perfomance at the end of this..... ~ peace.
