Turns out it was hard enough to feed a horse. Now I gotta feed a horse a week... to my Carnivorous mount.
Thats resource opulence and probably was smart not to pour 80% of total feudal household finance into raising 1-3 of these creatures that could die from sickness, battle(what they're meant for..) or be stolen. All the same problems with a horse but only invested %5 of total feudal household income into that...

There was a bear a few years ago that was occasionally visiting a New Jersey subdivision. It was nicknamed “Pedals” because it only walked on it’s hind legs and it was beloved by almost everyone that lived there. Millions of ppl online were watching videos of him too. Then, a few months later, Republican NJ governor Chris Christie decided to expand the hunting of bears. It wasn’t long before a Redneck (who reportedly "wanted him dead for nearly 3 years" and bragged about the kill) came into the area and killed Pedals. The ppl were understandably outraged but, as usual, the hunting groups desire for a trophy & bloodlust took priority over what the majority of the public want. And that’s to let the animals live in peace.

and love is the mechanism that they evolved, along with other mammals and many birds, to get them to take care of their dependent cubs instead of just eating or abandoning them, so they certainly do love. As for respect, that's more of a human concept. They just don't hurt the ones they love, that's it. That mother-offspring bond is why you're generally safe with them IF you raised them since they were cubs.
