Second hand Ping G410 would be my recommendation, forgiving, pretty cheap now, but also very playable for a single figure HCP with an above average swing speed
I built a few 8 irons on a whim to check out the Malty TS1 IM, TS3, TS4, and TE+. I am not a particularly good ball striker. That said, I hit all of these, including the TS4 "blade", at least as well my P770's. I was pretty impressed.
I actually have that very same Adams Super Hybrid 15 degree that you showed briefly on Ebay. I haven't hit a 3 wood well ever, so wanted something at that degree that I can still hit high, and boy does it deliver! Best $20 spent on my golf game yet.
Still gaming a TM Mid-Rescue 19* from probably 20 years ago. Best hybrid ever made IMO, the OG. They can be found for peanuts on the bay. Mine has a slab of lead tape that has now worn completely through on the bottom, in addition to the paint.
Thanks Simon - putting together an upgraded bag. So far I snagged a BRNR 11.5, G425 5 wood, 5-G PXG 0211, Ping glide 4.0 eye 2 56° and Ping Tomcat putter. Now on the hunt for a 24° hybrid and this video helps tremendously. BTW everything in the bag so far is less than $1000.
Nice to see some love for Adams, I got a XTD Ti head from eBay brand new for less than £20, a new TaylorMade fujikura shaft for a fiver in some mad Scottsdale sale and a TaylorMade sleeve for £7 (right-handed as no one had a lefty one), bit of grit n glue and Lamkin grip I had lying around and my Frankenstein hybrid was born all for less than £35. Can't see any pro's putting it in their bag, but that bad boy lipped a 210 yd par 3 yesterday finishing half a clubs length from the hole (still 2 putted it though).
I picked up a near new Adams Tight Lies hybrid second hand for £40. Great club, I wanted something to hit high flighted shots into firm greens, this is a 25 degree lofted club and gets the ball high into the air. It’s got a tiny head, not as forgiving as my Callaway hybrids, but with practice I can hit great shots with the Adams and it lands soft. Hybrids are the way forward for all but the best ball strikers.
I've been gaming a second hand Titleist 915hd for about 7 or 8 years now. It's the only one I've ever had that I can hit without hooking the absolute piss out of it the majority of time lol. It's one of those clubs that will never leave my bag until it breaks.
I absolutely hated hybrids until I tried the Aerojet One Length. They are so easy to hit compared to the iron equivalents. I just wish they did them in higher lofts…I would probably game a whole bag of them if they were available.
Still using a Wilson C300 (23 degree), also have the 20 degree. BTW - agree with the comment/request about Maltby/Golfworks, they do make some great club(head)s!! I am using one of their iron sets, a forged cavity back, love them.
Re: the more forgiving hybrids. I think what you were actually trying to say here was......boys, leave your egos at home, and use what is more appropriate for your game. I know I would prefer to be playing a shot from the middle of the fairway (of the actual hole I'm playing) than from the trees/6 foot grass/muddy creek bed or the opposite fairway. I'm not a pro, I don't have the ability to rescue myself to the middle of the green. I'm starting to put some proper thought into what I should be using, instead of what looks better in the bag.....especially at the 19th hole.
This is Manuel Hernández LOVE your channel. Loved this video. Really love all your uploads. You got a great gift of gab. Any way all the way from Bakersfield, CA in the good’ol 🇺🇸 I have a request. Can you do a video on “tweener “ clubs. I. E. Cleveland Hy-wood, Calloway SUPER hy-brid. 🤷 You have been into golf much longer than I have. Maybe you can find something in that range. KEEP up the great work.
Callaway preowned are selling off Great Big Bertha 23 hybrids. I assume because no one bought one at over £400 when they released. £120 now 😊 also matching fairways and driver heavily discounted.
I've added two ov those to my arsenal over the last year! Such a steal and the face is crazy hot due to it being titanium. Seriously underrated and fun to hit.
I'm not a beginner golfer, but I was considering getting a TSR1 hybrid for added forgiveness from shots in deep rough or bad lies. I still want good ball height and despite a possible poor hit from a bad area. Does that sound like a solid idea Simon or am I crazy??
Why pay £100ish when you cannot beat an Adams pro for £40-50 in very good condition. They all use Adams tech now anyway. I use a 16 degree for hitting low into the wind or fairway finders and a 20 degree that digs the ball out of rough and still gets distance.
Adams. When Taylormade couldn’t make a decent hybrid so they just bought the experts at it and rebadged them 🤣 I game the M6 4 and 6 hybrids as my long iron game is pants.
What would you recommend in terms of forgiveness and ‘easiness’ to hit when comparing a 4/5 hybrid with a 7 wood? My main concern with a 7 wood would be the extra shaft length.
I went to the golf store intending to get a Wilson Dynapower hybrid but instead picked up a Mizuno STMax 4h for like, $150 new. I don't know if they completely flopped on the market but for some reason there are crazy deals on Mizuno woods/hybrids right now
"for that golfer that has a 7i that goes 130, a 6i that goes 130, and a 5i that goes 130.", made me laugh. Yes, I can identify with that. This is why I have woods down to the 11W. If you live long enough, you get old. This is also why my wife and I buy bananas two at a time. I don't want them turning brown when I am gone! Thanks for your wonderful videos. You explain things nicely.
Surprised you didn't recommend Ben Ross as their hybrids are the same price new as the ones you recommend here used. Picked up a 5 hybrid recently and very good it is too. Higher lofted than most so good for those who don't do well with 5/6 iron. I got the 28 degree but tempted by the 24 too. Pretty much replaced my 6 iron which is inconsistent with a low flight.
Can you please tell me the brand&model of the hybrid you used in video at 2.38min for “penetration&control“. It has a more square toe&face than all the other models.I think it is also the model you call 'Bullet' at start of the video. Many thanks.
Hi, beginner older guy. Driver is not consistent left and top there are narrow treelined fairways. I have a Adams 818 FC driver, King Cobra 4 Hybrid baffler 26 deg. then I have a 7 iron Ping--love it-- a PW and a SW do I need anything else to hit around solo and learn. Thank you. I need a cheap putter too.
I would say bag make up is good, e.g the amount of clubs seems good. The adams 818 definitely would see a benefit from an upgrade. Ping G10 would be a good budget option mate. That being said can definitely learn with what your have mate and no rush. 🙌

I know you're in the UK but I'd love to see you look at the Maltby line of clubs in the USA.
Ok see if I can get ahold of some mate!
Thanks mate. 🙌
Maltby now deliver to the UK. Great value clubs same as Wishon.
I've never seen Maltby in hotlists, but Wishon regularly featured.
I built a few 8 irons on a whim to check out the Malty TS1 IM, TS3, TS4, and TE+.
I am not a particularly good ball striker. That said, I hit all of these, including the TS4 "blade", at least as well my P770's.

Cobra and Cleveland hybrids are great value
Especially with the rails

Hahaha I have one of those too! It's no longer in the bag, but in the backup. Definitely was a fantastic $20 addition to my bag as a newb though!
I have the Radspeed 3,4, and 5 One Length hybrids and could not be happier. The accuracy and forgiveness are exceptional.
🙌
Still gaming my F9 one length hybrids 👍🏼
Callaway Steelhead with the Ozik 60-gram shaft.
Best hybrid for me. And I have tried them all !!!
Callaway Xr Steelhead !!!!
Absolutely the best hybrid ever !!!!
I still play a titleist 910h 2 hybrid. It hits lasers
You do a great job on second hand clubs. More golfers by used than new so it is nice having someone cover this topic
This is one of the smartest takes on hybrid and shaft selection that I’ve seen.
Wait till winter 25% less, brought a stealth 4 and 5 £75 n £79. Now 90ish. best hybrid i ever hit , personally
Those Adam’s hybrids are so good. I cracked the head on mine after a year of smashing it. Only paid £30.00 for it so was ok when it finally broke
LOVE me an Adams hybrid & fairway wood
I love kislux that on the butterfly bag it says auguri / tanti auguri which means happy birthday
kislux I love you so much and watching your videos makes my day brighter

I stole at stealth 3hy off eBay, and just put a 4 hy super hy Callaway with the premium tensie orange shaft and it's much easier from 200-180 now
I absolutely hated hybrids until I tried the Aerojet One Length. They are so easy to hit compared to the iron equivalents. I just wish they did them in higher lofts…I would probably game a whole bag of them if they were available.
got to get me one! radspeed 4 was about 90 pounds second hand in one site

Great video, just to let the viewers know you can still buy the PXG gen5 0311 hybrid from PXG custom fitted for £139 which I think is a bargain
Oh interesting 👀 didn’t know that.
Callaway preowned are selling off Great Big Bertha 23 hybrids. I assume because no one bought one at over £400 when they released. £120 now 😊 also matching fairways and driver heavily discounted.
Check out the Callaway Epic Superhybrid from 2021. They were originally over $500, now you can get them for as low as $100-125.
I've added two ov those to my arsenal over the last year! Such a steal and the face is crazy hot due to it being titanium. Seriously underrated and fun to hit.
If you like those look at the old Adam's Super Hybrid!
I'm not a beginner golfer, but I was considering getting a TSR1 hybrid for added forgiveness from shots in deep rough or bad lies. I still want good ball height and despite a possible poor hit from a bad area. Does that sound like a solid idea Simon or am I crazy??
I'm thinking of getting an Adams hybrid, are they all pretty forgiving? Ive been eyeing up an Adams Idea Super XTD 4 hybrid for example.
Why pay £100ish when you cannot beat an Adams pro for £40-50 in very good condition. They all use Adams tech now anyway. I use a 16 degree for hitting low into the wind or fairway finders and a 20 degree that digs the ball out of rough and still gets distance.

Sim2 4h 100$ used
The variety of textures in the kislux pack is impressive. From smooth leather to textured suede, there's something for everyone.

Love the info on the clubs, not a fan of the Vice ball commercial :/

Putter wise Cleveland putters are great value or old school “yes” putters. 👌
@@SASGolf Thank you sir. Yea that driver head looks small, and most likely makes it difficult.
Simon, thoughts on the PXG 0311 SGI Gen2 iron as a franken club?
I have the same adams with a kuro kage 80 gram stiff shaft. 4 hybrid. Nothing comes close to beating it. I have tried so many
Still keeping my 7 wood Simon
Are you doing a video for the vice clubs
Is the vice cap deal only for USA and Canada residents?
And uk mate
@@SASGolf not australia?
Adams v3
No idea why, but I've just never been able to hit a hybrid 🤷🏼♂️ tried a few times, never worked, I'll stick to the 7 wood crafted by the gods 😂
you should get out of the studio and hit the course a bit, would be nice switch up from the office
****cough**** Benross VeloCT ****cough**** 😳
👌
when i think of budget its £30
Good job I showed the Adams then 😅
Kasco easiest hybrids ever
Irons and woods are the way, don’t play hybrids
