Doki Doki MORNING is where everything started, they got 11 and 12 yo when the group was created in 2010 with this song but the official MV (Edit version) was released a year later. The girls look so young i myself was thinking they got less than 10 yo when I met them with this song around that time.
The backing band you saw here are hired actors called "baby-bones", you'll see them performing live during early shows until 2014, after that Kami Band took their places as a real band on stage.
They're singing about waking up and going to school while worrying about make-up and usual girl stuff, this a metal song after all 🤘
There's an Air Dance version of this, with the girls dancing in front of the camera in this same room. There's also a funny commentary vid made by the girls telling us more details about the backstage on this song.
You can enjoy the live version of this with the Kami Band live at Legend 1999 and after Budokan 2014, they also performed this at Budokan 2021 celebrating their 10 years and last year they introduced the Metalverse era with this song performing and introducing a new subgroup, you can find this clip live at Makuhari Messe 2023 at NLMetal.
Next suggestion to meet a SuMetal solo and a different song outside of the usual happy vibes:
- Akatsuki live at Budokan 2014.
They recently announced they will be part of the line up at Knotfest Brazil in October marking their first time in South America, The One is going crazy with this news.

You are right no one had ever tried mixing JPop and metal like this before.
The video was done on a shoestring budget as their parent company, A!Muse had not interest in funding Kobametal's little heavy metal experiment, so the girls had to borrow clothes for their costumes, and the skeleton costumes were just white masking tape on black catsuits.
I left a list of songs with links on your ko-fi that are likely to be on the setlist in November for you to try to react to by then.
I linked Official MVs where possible as that is your preference, but the majority are going to by high-quality, pro-shot live performances and live is always better with Babymetal as opposed to most other groups who sound better on studio tracks.

Yui and Moa are so teeny tiny, it's funny. There is a video where they comment on the video as you watch it. They said they fought a battle with the flower and had to teach the band how to dance the song.

This was where it all started ... originally recorded late October 2010 when Su-metal was 12, Yuimetal and Moametal were both 11, so it is a song that really was age appropriate. They made their live debut performing this song at the first Sakura Gakuin show in November 2010. The video was made nearly a year later around August 2011 (so that was nearly 13 years ago) on a shoestring budget.
The girls were very pleased with themselves, they taught the Babybones guys the choreo so they could dance along with them in the video.
Doki doki is onomatopoeic for a fast or excited heartbeat and the song is about a girl waking up late and rushing to get ready for an exciting day at school with all her friends - all the traditional Metal themes like which lip gloss to wear, how to get there hair straight etc.🤘😁

This song unexpectedly blew up when the music video was posted online.
Su, Yui and Moa were still in Sakura Gakuin, the school-themed Idol group.
As you noted, this was the first song for BABYMETAL, the "Heavy Music Club" sub-unit.
Their original budget was so small that Su's coat was borrowed from one of the Sakura Gakuin teachers.
Moa's vest was borrowed from Yui, and Yui borrowed hers from fellow student Raura.
This song covers many traditional Heavy Metal themes, like waking up excited for a new day at school, and deciding on your lip gloss and cute hairstyle for the day. : )
There were other sub-units besides BABYMETAL at Sakura Gakuin that had more resources for costumes and video production, like the Twinklestars (The Baton Club) that Yui and Moa were also a part of.
But even with a shoestring budget, this video is the one that blew up on social media.
Of course, about three years later 'Gimme Chocolate!!' took off even further.

This is very early Babymetal with BabyBones mimicking playing the instruments, pre Kami Band. They were probably around 12 years old at the time.
I would like to suggest another Japanese band for you to react to. Check out Band-Maid sometime. There are several live videos from Yokohama Arena that are all incredible and would be a great way to start. Endless Story is a tear jerker ballad and Don't You Tell Me and Hate are heavy bangers with guitar vs bass battles.

Yui had to leave BabyMetal in 2018 due to advice from her doctors for undisclosed health reasons. Su and Moa have said that they are still great friends with Yui and speak to her often.
Also, BabyMetal is credited with creating the Kawaii Metal genre. That's what the name BabyMetal refers to, the birth of a new genre, not the age of the girls when they started in 2010.

Its getting more intressting. The Bands name BabyMetal is more like a word play from the english word Heavy Metal written in Katakana, wich looks like ヘビー・メタル
The ヘ stands for a He sound as in Heavy Metal. But as soon as you add more strokes to the ヘ like this -> ベ. That He sound changes into a Be sound.
ヘビー・メタル --> Heavy Metal (Hebi Metaru)
ベビー・メタル --> Baby Metal (Bebi Metaru)
