I also didn't like that they retained Eberflus. I thought they should have reset the coaching staff, hired an offensive guru who could mold a QB so they could grow together. That's pretty much where my "agreeing" with RG3 ends in this take, for several reasons.
    1. The Bears have more weapons than ANY other potential landing spot for Caleb.
    2. The past is irrelevant. Just because the Bears have not drafted and develpoed a great QB doesn't mean they never can. They just drafted the wrong guys. Do you think ANY of the guys they drafted would have been great elsewhere? Who? Certainly not Justin Fields. The rest of the NFL just demonstrated exactly how much he is worth. Everyone pining for Fields received a giant wake-up call and got put on notice by the rest of the league.
    3. People (like Deion Sanders) say he can't play in cold weather. Well, the Bears are 2-3 years away from having a new, domed stadium.
    4. If you truly want to be legendary, Chicago is a GREAT choice. This city is begging for a QB to play well. They are so hungry for a QB that they confuse mediocrity with greatness (Justin Fields). When a QB just plays average here, or slightly above average, the fans in Chicago embrace him. If Caleb Williams came here and threw 30 TDs in a season, he'd never pay for a beer in this town again! If you truly want to be legendary, rewrite the Bears' history. Then everyone can stop saying we've never had a great QB. We'd be able to throw your name out for the next 50 years, just like we do the '85 Bears when people talk about us never having a good team. This is the EXACT right place for Caleb Williams.

I was first reading the backlash from everyone on what RG3 said, but now actually hearing it for myself, he's NOT totally wrong. When have the Bears ever developed a quarterback? Of course, we can only hope that with Poles at the helm, things will be different, but historically, the Bears have been bad news for quarterbacks. So people need to cool down a bit. On the flip-side. the Bears are truly building a great roster and would be a great landing spot for any quarterback to step into, regardless of history.

Chase, this is the same guy as a rookie who had the audacity to go straight to the Redskins owner and complain about his Super Bowl winning head coach. He informed Dan Snyder he wanted to be a pocket QB. RG3, just like Jayden Daniels, couldn’t protect himself by getting down. This ended Mike Shanahan’s career. Then following HC put him in a traditional offense and he was terrible. Recently, he was fighting with that coach about racing pigeons. Just an odd character all together.

If this was the 2021 Bears, RG3 would have an argument to make. Justin came to a team with no o-line, no weapons, no true game plan, a team strapped against the cap with not enough picks to build up around him either. Caleb would come to a Bears team with 2 excellent WR's, a good TE room, very good RB room, a MUCH improved O-line that hopefully gets better, cap space, and plenty of draft picks coming in 2025 and possibly this year if a trade down happens from #9, and Shane Waldron is a huge upgrade over Nagy. The Bears defense is also far better. It's a far better situation than WAS. I honestly can't think of a #1 overall qb pick coming to a team with the offensive weapons Caleb would have, it's certainly a better situation than WAS or NE.

Seems like the national media is on "the bears suck as an organization" narrative. Isn't it leftovers from previous regimes? Hard to argue the organization has sucked at developing QBs and WRs, yet I believe in what Poles is doing. That said, no one is talking about how hard it is for QBs to handle pressure up the middle. Justin handled it better than most with his athleticism but was under pressure on 40+ % of his dropbacks and a lot of it was up the middle with crappy center and occasionally crappy guard play. Not even Mahomes can deal with immediate pressure up the middle. Hopefully Shane Waldron and the new guys at center will help make life easier for the next guy. How did the previous offensive staff coach Mooney to regress from 2021? Are Velus and Scott really that bad - or was it coaching? No QB can elevate bad coaching.

  • @rememberruff
    @rememberruff 7 месяцев назад

That CTE is hitting RG3 hard. My man thinks the Bears are the Commanders. Trivia question how many QBs have the bears drafted in the top 3 since the the defensive rule changes? The QB position has always been important, but the Bears made a Superbowl with a QB who threw 5 interceptions and won because of Devin Hester and Defense. The point being until the last decade a power run game, one speed guy, and a great defense guaranteed you a playoff spot. The league changed, and it's true ownership did a horrible job adjusting to the new league, but they've clearly changed. The Bears have never had 2 top 15 WR1 caliber talent, and outside of Mitch the Glitch(who had no business being drafted in the top10) they've never Drafted a QB prospect top 5. The Bears have Moore, Allen, Swift, Herbert, Khemt, and Wright for protection. On paper this is the most talented offense the Bears have ever managed to assemble. Meanwhile what do the Redskins have? You want to talk about not doing right by a QB can someone explain to me how Washington treated their last few QBs. The Bears have never left a QB on the field in RG3 situation. He could still be playing right now if he was drafted anywhere else, but now he wants to send another guaranteed top 3 QB to that sorry franchise. Tell the truth even though everyone likes to talk about how bad the Bears are the Commanders have been exponentially worse. I don't know why but people are over exaggerating how bad the bears have been. Over the past 20years the Bears have been to at least 2 NFC championship games and 1 Superbowl despite having no real QB talent no disrespect to our QBs, but most of them would have been bad no matter where they played. The Bears have the Number 1 pick, but they weren't nearly as bad as the real worst team in the league, or the Commanders. I loved watching Fields develop and I've never said a bad word about Fields because he was improving, but he can't sense pressure read where blitz's are coming from and the absolute worst trait a QB can have he holds the ball too long. Fields will be a beast learning under Wilson for a year or 2 but he wasn't going to get that in Chicago. Honestly I wish the bears would call Tom Brady and see if he would play for us for a year or to coach up Williams because this offense is going to be legit regardless of what the haters are talking about. My only worry about the Bears is who is their QB coach other than that this team will be in the playoffs because they're better than Detroit right now. My bold prediction is the Bears will sweep the Lions next year, but will still lose both games to the Packers while splitting with Minnesota.

I kind of agree with RG3. How can he trust Matt Eberflus and Ryan Poles?
    1. Poles stripped the team to bare minimum... getting rid of the leadership and defense, with no o-line and limited weapons.
    2. Only to be coached by Poles and Getsy who does play to the players strengths.
    3. Continuedly focus on building the defense in the draft in the first 3 rounds of the draft - Offense RT and WR. Defense - CB, CB, CB, DT, DT.
Spending big on defense in Free Agency... Oh but we got you DJ Moore... However, no solutions at Center but 2 above average weapons you should be okay running for your life.
4.Then you fire the OC but not Head Coach... and don't hire your coach from college.
5.Then you un-ceremoniously the previous 1st round QB hang him out to dry while finally giving some support.
Poles doesn't seem like an honest person and often back tracks on his core principles...
    Building through the draft (here's a 4th rounder, here's 5th rounder)
Character and Accountability are high components of being Bear... 2 assistant coaches get fire mid-season yet you don't hold yourself and coach Eberflus accountable...
To me it seems the only people that took accountability for their mistakes and the mistakes of Poles was Fields and Getsy.

RGwho? Look at what the Bears have done- look at what this new GM has done for Caleb Williams or whomever they decide to draft. Justin Fields was not Ryan Poles draft pick...he wasn't his guy. That said I believe if Justin Fields had 2 more years of control instead of one...or the Bears didn't have the top pick...they might have kept Justin Fields. The reality is, to keep Justin Fields means that Poles has to pass up CJ Stroud and Caleb Williams in consecutive years...that's a level of negligence that gets you fired. I hesitate comparing this to the situation CJ Stroud inherited because of the head coach...that's where Poles biggest question mark is for me.
