Justin Fields turned negative 7 yards into 14, 21, 18, 15, a 7yd TD, and more. The total negative yards would have been -45 but he ran and gained a positive 80 plus a TD. Wilson can’t do that anymore. And with this offensive line, those kind of legs are what it’s going to take to win.

A play or two before the @6:18 play in the second quarter, Fields got whacked on a sideline throw to Pickens. He was airmailing for a while after. I think he got some sort of arm stinger but stayed in there.

@@niyidelano I had the thought about a concussion as well, but the rest of the drive he was expecting the ball to go to 1 spot and it just wasn't. Pro QBs miss by a little on medium range throws. One not in the viewed likely made the crowd. It calmed down in less than an hour of real time, so I think it was his arm. Chase also noted him whacking his hand on a helm.

Fields is a baller and a good dude. As a Bears fan, Ive cheered for him since he entered the league and still cheer for him as a Steeler to do well. Fields is still not surrounded by the kind of skill players that other mobile QBs have (Stroud, Purdy, Jackson, Mahomes). Aside from having another year under his belt, I think he's doing better than he did with the Bears because the Steelers OL is better (as porous as it is). Also, the Tomlin and Smith are better than Eberflus and Getsy at setting him up for success. I think the Steelers should ride it out with JF2 - I want that 4th round pick!

Here's the real deal. Upper management might be in play here. If Justin Fields plays half the snaps this season, the 6th round pick the Steelers traded to the Bears becomes a 4th round pick. The Steelers may be fine parting with a 6thvrounder but not a 4th rounder. If Russell Wilson is the starter Justin will not see action again unless Wilson gets injured. The Steelers think they can remain competitive and not give up a 4th round pick. They may have decided that neither QB is in their future so the mindset is to try to win now and protect future assets.

This year 5 TDs, 1 pic and 93% passer rating in 6 Games. Other QBs in this division have had almost as many TDs in one game. Yes , he scored a lot of running TDs, but how many were designed plays and not just scrambling because he couldn't spot an open receiver in the red zone? It's also telling that Najee was the the first player to score on a run play ,other than Fields, just this past week. Why isn't the running game working in the red zone ? A switch might be a spark to help the slow starts and the dependency on Defense to win games for them.

I think Tomlin is figuring, "We're playing two mediocre teams before the bye- the Jets and Giants. Put Russ in on a 2-game audition. If he makes the offense explosive? He's our QB after the bye. If he's terrible and we go 0-2? Fields gets the reigns back after the bye, our record is still 4-4, and well within playoff contention if Fields wants to get us there." It's a tough call. A 9-Time Pro Bowler and Super Bowl champion that wasn't half bad his final year in Denver, and is still just 35....vs. a QB that's 4-2, but largely due to defensive play, with just 5 passing TD's in 6 games, who has thrown for 156 yards or less in 4 of his 6 games." Let's also not forget, he threw a TERRIBLE INT in the redzone against the Raiders, and got bailed out by an unrelated after-the-fact roughing the passer. He also ALMOST through a pick six a couple drives later but threw the ball so bad it bounced before it got to the corner. I think Russ's resume has earned him a 2-game audition. Both Fields and Russ haven't been recently mediocre, but at least Russ has been excellent in the past. Let's give him 2 games to show he still has it.

Justin has played conservatively all season. I am unsure if that is him knowing his history and not wanting to take some chances or the coaches telling him not to, but I thought there were many throws in this game he should have hit that he didn't. This is where I know Russ will make those throws. I still believe Justin can be the future of this team, but he needs to let it rip and trust himself. Tom Brady once said that when he was put into the starting lineup, his goal was to never relinquish the starting QB job. This is the mentality Justin needs, but he can't keep playing conservatively.

I was driving during the early part of the game, so I listened to the radio for this one hearing "Fields misses the wide open receiver by 5 yards. And then "Fields missed another wide open receiver". was tough to listen to. He plays like the same Justin Fields that was not good enough in Chicago.
If the defense gets him the ball within 20 yards of the end zone, he has a good chance of scoring, but NOT with his arm. If he has to go 60 yards, he will likely throw incomplete on a 3rd down.

Fields clearly hurt some part of his throwing ability (either head or somewhere from the shoulder to the hand) on an early 2Q sideline throw to Pickens. He was fine throwing on target all game to that point, then he airmailed a couple of balls in a row. He was fine a couple of drives later. The stinger (I'll call it that for now) sucks because he missed wildly on 3 throws that could have gone for either a good bit or a TD. Everyone will ignore that the line also collapsed before the end of his drop on 3 passes in a row, which is more the reason they weren't passing much.

As a request from a cowboys fan it doesn't have to be long or extremely detailed but im curious on what you seen from Dak. "He obviously isn't playing well" maybe even of you break down like 1 or two plays and say this is whats happening every play. I just don't understand how you go from a mvp like season and making tight throws and few turnovers and highest scoring offense to now you can't score once in a game?
I know they lost some stars on the Oline as well as Tony Pollard but its hard for me to believe thats a huge issue. I know Guyton has stuggled and Steele but in your opinion is
#1 Dak isn't seeing the field correctly?
#2 O-line is just falling apart and causing him to panic and or overthink/worry
#3 the fact they have no run game so Ds are just like okay we are gonna double your targets and make every throw impossible
    #4 poor game plan
#4b not being creative so everyone sees whats coming way before it happens?
Or 5 All the above plus more
I just dont get it and its not like oh Dak forgot how to throw a ball so its gotta be something but i know even last year. If everything goes perfect they will put up 50 points but if something pops up they will lose 40-3.
I do know i think during the steelers game they said some stat said Daks average window to get a ball to a receiver is the smallest in the NFL. Like they aren't getting seperation or every team is just great and hugging the WRs. Regardless we will see what we have after the Bye because 49ers even injured has beens Dallas's kryptonite so if they win ill change my opinion of them. Heck if they just keep it close ill be fine but if they gp down at any point more than 17 points its over. Im happy to get Micah, Dlaw, and Bland back but if your offense can't score any points then whats the point? You'd need to take a really deep dive into what the Offense is doing. In the games they get blown out, there's clearly something the Defense is able to do to completely bottle up the current offense. Given how large the Dallas fanbase is, someone out there will have done that deep dive, but finding that channel might be hard.

honestly, I don't see the negative of starting Russ. If he shits the bed.. yank him and throw Justin back in and let him be a hero. If Russ starts hitting our guys the way he should.. where Justin is missing quite a few of those throws.. as long as he can stay alive back there and isn't getting killed by poor blocking.. what's the negative? Look.. I HATE Russ.. since the day he won that superbowl and was crying and couldn't stop thanking god.. made me want to vomit my guts out. And it infuriated me that he's gonna be a Steeler.. but, this is what we got. And Justin, as ok as he's been.. has not been great. He's been good.. sometimes just ok.. sometimes pretty bad.. a handful of times he did have some great plays.. usually wiped out by penalties lol. But for sure, we would benefit from better QB play. If Russ can do it.. I'll swallow my hate.. and if he fails.. who cares.. let him prove he doesn't have it at all anymore and toss him out.. costs us nothing. Maybe one L. It's not like Justin is guaranteed W. All I know is, whichever one shows out to be better this year.. we need to go find us a dude in the draft. Cause neither are likely a good long term answer, no matter how it all shakes out. Russ' career is on life support.. and Justin shows very limited maturation into blossoming into a star QB. Yeah it's possible still.. but at year 4.. even in a new system.. his lack of ability to just see it and throw it consistently, accurately.. screams that it aint likely coming. IMO.. I mean.. watch the good young QBs out there.. I could pull up half a dozen rookies and year 2 QBs that make year 4 Justin look pretty ho hum

His lines were attrocious, never had a pro center, his #1 receiver for 2 years was Darnell Mooney, a good player but the smallest, least forgiving target I've ever seen on a football field. Got DJ moore and threw him his career season, and he's no gazelle himself. Nice to see him on a competently coached team, the Bears did him dirty, but at least traded him where he wanted to go.
