Yes bragging is one of the reasons why I can't get along with some relatives. They will brag about how many awards their daughter has won and when people come over will show off how they have real marble tables and everything.
A lot of sin is so deceiving to the point we sin so much we don't even realize we're storing up judgment and a deep fall vs humility like you've said, we get honored.
I know a guy 70+ and he brags about himself all the time. It is embarrassing when you accidently introduce him to one of your friends because he goes into a long winded bragfest, behind his back they are rolling their eyes at him. I have asked him why does he feel the need to "big himself up", he was unfamiliar with that terminology and so I broke it down to what it meant SELF PROMOTING, TRYING TO IMPRESS STRANGERS, SOUNDING SELF ABSORBED, BOASTING, BRAGGING, BELITTLING OTHERS, SAYING THAT YOU ARE A VERY IMPORTANT PERSON, he went red with shame. He still does brag but I walk away so he gets the message. Not only that most of what he brags about is bullshit fantasy and it is the exact same story he doesn't expand of deviate which is the pattern of liar keeping to the same story.

I have a friend and she's pretty much my best bff.She has changed a lot these days.She brags about her exam grades and that has always made me feel so uncomfortable.I'm willing to let her know how I don't like it when she does that.
If another human being expressing positive feelings in regards to their accomplishments makes you feel uncomfortable, that is because you are insecure and feel inferior and you do not deserve their presence. If they brag in a condescending way or compare themselves to you, I get your point, but if they simply tell you how happy they are about something nice they have done or learned, it is extremely toxic of you to dislike them for that. I noticed that I pushed my friends away if I am talking about myself and my goals even though it was in a moderate way. I enjoy being confident and like to talk a lot but people don't like me being in the spotlight and that I know lots of things and I am better than most of them and this only made myself feeling alone...I think nowadays people want friends dumber than them who can control and don't need a smart one that knows almost everything. What should I do in this case?
If you think you are better than most of them, that is the biggest of all of your problems..... you are no better than anyone else..... treat people with respect, and humble yourself...... things will change..... start by apologizing to your friends for coming across as a narcissist.

I brag, often sarcastically, as humour but figured out most people don't understand I'm just joking. I actually prefer proud people who sometimes brag compared to humble people. Something about hiding your good attributes that just doesn't sit right with me. To each their own I guess.
