    I keep wondering why is this issue now an issue, why wasn´t it stopped when this began? It would have saved those poor souls from this horrendous crime which is equivalent to Pharaonic projects of the Al-Thanis . Why can´t this entire FIFA stuff cancelled out of Qatar? Its the only way one could really stand for human rights. Humans are same be it in Ukraine or for that matter from any part of this world.

    We need to have more insulation in are homes to reduce cooling and heating needs.

    Great analysis pointing numbers after the obvious. I would have loved to see a comparison versus a host country that has at least half of the infrastructure ready (an actual football country).
    In other subject, I would also love to see a sinilar analysis for an entire season of F1.

      Great point. But should allow other continents to host the world cup too, especially the poorer nation but has the passion and love for the game. I think the rights to host the world cup shouldn't be a monopoly/duopoly continent's rights, but everyone should get equal chance of hosting. Happy that Qatar got it. It gives the chance for fellow Asians and Africans to enjoy the world cup since Qatar is easily accessible to these continents which are usually overlooked but still have the same love and passion for the game.

      Thanks and yes, we would have loved to weigh up the emissioins with another World Cup, but there were no comparable numbers for other such events till now. But F1 is def something we want to look into soon though, thanks for the suggestion!

      @@DWPlanetA Having formally worked in FIA level motorsport for many years I am sure many people would be horrified at the carbon footprint... however I doubt the ICE loving F1 fans would except the results or consider the expense as anything other than justified!... if you want to look at green washing in motorsport consider the 'Extreme E' championship!

    To all those who criticize Qatar
    I think that you do not know about the case of Filipino nurses working in the United Kingdom, with a contract that lasts for five years without the right to resign from work, nor have you heard about the sexual exploitation of Moroccan workers in Spain and other EU countries or about human trafficking in civilized Europe. You did not changed since the eras of barbaric colonization of the world. What changed is just your slogans.
    And if you want to know the extent of the hypocrisy you are practicing, you claim that the Qatar World Cup will cause climate change, and you, during the last 200 years, have burned millions of tons of coal , ,oil and wood, you destroyed forests in European continent and polluted the whole world with nuclear radiation and chemical wastes, and now you are trying to give others lessons in preserving the environment.!!
    You claim that Qatar paid bribes to FIFA, you claim that it destroyed the planet's climate, that Qatar forced workers into forced labor, a long list of allegations echoed by the UK's media mouthpieces.
    All this in order for the United Kingdom to steal the organization of the tournament from Qatar.

    In 2019, I was in Qatar for a work trip, and saw these migrant construction workers sleeping in the heat, on the ground in the dirt, with garbage everywhere. It is modern slavery, and it was disturbing. FIFA should have guaranteed minimum working conditions and salaries for all workers at their events, and should be paying reparations to these migrant workers. I am passionate about soccer, but I must boycott this time

    I think it's the cup Europe deserves after all the complaining about South Africa in 2010 and Brazil in 2014.     Great video good info.
    The problem with all the "sustainable" initiatives is that they are mostly green washing. From sustainable Tuna to Tesla to a new football stadium. So i wonder if the consumer really still cares or has just accepted the fact that's it's a load of bull. Maybe good investigation topic. Cheers.

    30.000 labours died since 2017 in Qatar ( from nepal sri lanka Bangladesh India etc) thanks to KAFALA system in Qatar
    -ill working conditions
    -18 hrs working per day
    -Passport kept with the company and workers are not allowed to travel even if someone dies in their family
    -They are beaten everyday
    Etc

    Why the hell do they keep giving huge sporting events like the World Cup or the Olympics to countries/cities that have to build everything from scratch in order to host it when there are tons of cities and countries all around the world that have those stadiums and infrastructure already built?

    Fifa is corrupt. That's the real problem not Qatar. While in Qatar you should respect the laws of Qatar. If certain countries are so against the World Cup in Qatar then they should boycott. In reality those countries are hypocrites who like preach but dont practice.

      Hi Nyasha, good question! Solar panels work very well in sunlit areas so therefore a desert solar project would work well. It is believed that solar panels covering a surface of around 335km2 would actually be enough to power the world - this would only cover just 1.2% of the Sahara Desert. 🏜☀️
