Also it was made by Toshiro, who uh.... yeah give him 4 weeks and three boxes of scrap and he'll build a ship that can take out the Borg or the Reapers. Also also, probably far.. far more importantly. The Arcadia's final attack is 'let Harlock board the enemy ship and deal with them on foot, he's infinitely more dangerous than any battleship or black hole'.

I mainly just went with the fact that Captain Okita's show predates Gundam(I think!), and both men are amazing battleship captains. Somehow, I'd like to think Bright might have learned a thing or two from the old man, and expanded upon it to become the legend we know him as.
Well, the original show does predate Gundam by five years. The 2199 version is 38 years younger than the original Yamato and 33 younger than Gundam... XD Going by franchise age, SRW is the youngest of the three, but going by _captain_ age, I can see Okita and Daitetsu Minase both coaching a young Bright. XD

After aquire the Shin Dragon , its just a walk in the park of how absudly strong the NaBESTico (2 maps that eats all and a barrier) , The Yamato (Max upgrade Volley just MELT everything pre-Wave Motion Cannon + a barrier) and the Shin Dragon (Melt on everything, 2 ignore size strong attacks, a base support defense , 1 combination with the Shin Getter) are. Literally i sink all the money into them on top of put the vast mayority on the titular OG and the Mazin duo. The 6 literally melt more than half of the IF route Nevalinas.
@@SenseiRaisen The Vilkiss is that in my game. Yamato, Double Mazinger, Vilkiss. Ange has a cheap Love, has nonsense stats, and the Vilkiss' MAP Weapon template is abuseable as -fuck-. Give her Concentration, SP Up, E-Save, and equip one of the double money at 150 morale, then just go nuts with casting Love on her and raking the money. This works every single stage.
Well, in fairness, in SRW, the more central a given battleship is in its home series (either in fight scenes or by being in freakin' title), the more powerful it tends to be in gameplay (SEE: the Nadesico, any Macross battleship, Iron Gear, etc.). So it's not surprising that when the battleship *is* the series, that it's going to be pretty overwhelming.
Yeah but none of those were ever as ridiculously OP as the Yamato or the Arcadia were. VXT really went all in with the battleships, by actually making them THE main unit, not just the carrier. The Yamato, the N-Nautilus (to a much lesser degree) and the Arcadia are all debatably the strongest unit in their respective game. I say 'debatably' because V's Vilkiss is crazy strong with the best MAP Weapon ever, and the Arcadia is in a game with Gunbuster, who is always the strongest unit in any game its in.

You see it the other way in other games when a unit gets battleship-tier durability, it's just much more common so it's not pointed out as much. And given that the Yamato, Arcadia, and N-Nautilus were the *only* inclusions from their respective series, it makes sense that Banpresto would want to incentivize players to actually use them rather than hiding them in the rear the way they might with the likes of the Ra Cailum or the NSX. Though, boy, if you thought battleships were nuts in VXT, you oughta check out 30. The Dreisstrager makes the Arcadia look like the Turner.
Alpha 3 Macross 7 was the old top ship that had to move aside in my experience. Even then it is rather close, more opportunities to use Wave Motion Gun being the only thing that might have given it a clearer lead.
The Yamato is so good that it's hard to avoid stomping everything with it. Even the point defense lasers oneshot most things. I made the mistake of putting Hit and Run on it early, so found myself actively avoiding using it for anything beyond softening strong targets, or else nobody would have gotten any exp.
Yukari MAiG instantly equips Okita with just "Hit & Away" and "ignore size Lv2", easily sweeps the floor and being the first to hit the ace pilot status 👌

Just picture the two ships circling around an enemy and broadsiding it with everything they have before the Yamato finishes it off with the Wave Motion Gun as the Arciada rides the wave and rams the enemy with its ramming blade.
Super Robot Wars V, for PS4 and PSVita, came out last year. One of the best entries in the series in a long time, and Yamato 2199 is one of the shows featured in that game.
Harlock and the Arcadia would go great with a reprisal of Crossbone Vanguard. Add in Bodacious Space Pirates and you have the basis of a pirate-themed SRW game.
The only way this could happen: some super villain plays with time and allies with the super robot wars v protagonists' villains and reviving some dead villains and ally with new more menacing villains ie the comet Empire or promethium in order to achieve the super villains objective.

Seems Banpresto agreed with you, because SRW X had the N-Nautilus which is crazy strong, SRW T had the Arcadia, and SRW 30 has the Dreisstraeger that runs an insane 2021 meters in length. Coincidentally, 2021 years is about how long it takes to play through SRW 30, good lord that game is long.
I know this is a mecha series but i would love to have godzilla and mothra as playable units in the series with mecha godzilla and king ghidoriah as bosses in a future SRW game
Elyseon It isn’t exclusively japanese, it’s japanese speaking. If you look at the different characters they have very different faces in way that suggests different ethnicities. Also I’m quite certain at least one or two are aliens, so there’s that too. :P
In 2199 the ship is made in Japan, the project is mainly run by the Japanese government, and the world's infrastructure isn't in a state where moving people around the world would be easy, not to mention a large portion of the crew died the day before launch and had to be quickly replaced with personnel on hand. Naturally, since the ship was in Japan the personnel on hand were all Japanese. I'd say it's somewhat justified.
