I have 9 homepod mini. One in every room and the garage. I'm more than happy with the sound I get from the mini.
This is the best most comprehensive review on the new HomePod I've watched. Well done Stephen!
It's Andrew actually.!
You hit the nail on the head, Homepod 2 for better sound quality, mini does the same job but does not have that full bass and treble sound quality. There is nothing else out there for the price except for Sonos One & 100, but if you are an Apple user Homepod 2 is the right one to pick. Two Homepods 2 for me.
homepod 2 or x2 minis better?
@@youtubekullancs4523 I would go with two mini’s for that stereo sound. They sound great paired up.
Great video. Thank you for this. Recently on another HomePod video, people were actually arguing in the comments that the mini’s sound quality was the same as both the larger versions.
That's far from the truth. I actually think the mini sounds good but when you listen to it next to the big HomePod, it's a huge difference.
@@AppleInsider yes, I know. I couldn’t believe the comments in Sam’s “The New HomePods are weird” video. I shouldn’t be surprised, when it comes to Apple products, some people lose their grip on reality.
Horse shit.. I used 2 HomePod Mini in Stereo for years.. One HomePod 2 sounds way better...Deeper bass and crisper mid range..
LOVE the big one but I think I’m gonna go with the mini.
@@jacemolina7415 id rather spend 200 dollars less for the same shit just quieter💀
I prefer the mini. The only progress of the HomePod Gen 2 over the HomePod Gen 1 is the removable cable.
Nah. I have the mini, it’s obvious the HomePod 2 is better with sound quality. It has Dolby Atmos support that pairs with Sonos Speakers with Atmos and auto tune capable, but the mini is a perfect choice for most people. Basically what this videos had mentioned.
@@duyluu3354the big one can connect to a Sonos sound bar gen 2?
I’ve never heard a sound from either HomePods in real time, but I think I’ll go for the mini, and upgrade if I’m not okay with it. I can’t go all out $300 for a speaker just yet.
You can actually get them for about $100 cheaper second hand. I still wouldn’t spend $400 total just to get stereo audio for two speakers.
Thanks. With covid is behind us, how nice if Apple would have a showroom to demonstrate the sound differences between the two
Thanks for covering this subject, I've been hesitant to buy the full HomePod because of the massive price difference, and was wondering if the sound quality was worth it (as sound quality would be the priority here) and you verified it for me, so thank you.
I have heard that one big one sounds really good, but two big ones together sounds spectacular (for home theater type stuff). Have you been able to listen two big ones paired up?
Totally agree with this. I'd rather use two HomePods paired with the Apple TV and get Dolby Atmos spatial audio instead of a soundbar.
@@AppleInsiderHomePods over a sennheiser ambeo soundbar 🤨
@@AppleInsider HomePods over any other speaker with subwoofers? I think the HomePods would be great if they had subwoofer out. Otherwise, spatial audio is kinda broken without any bass.
@@tordb They have quite a bit of bass in them. They each have a dedicated sub that spans the entire width of the device.
@@AppleInsider You can't deny that Spatial Sound lacks bass big time. I run an Atmos home theater and an Apple tv and was trying out spatial audio this past weekend. It sounded good but lacked bass (I'm running 2 12" Klipsch powered subwoofers) Spatial is almost perfect until they fix no bass from the audio tracks.
Hopefully we can see some better pricing on the old HomePods 1’s now that the 2’s are out 🙌
The big one sounds much better!
Very much desire Home Pod 2…especially with my iPad Air M1.
Can you stereo pair 2 HomePod minis with 2 HomePod 2s? Or are you limited to the amount of HomePods to be paired together?….I basically want 2 HomePod 2s and 2 HomePod minis connected to my Apple TV
Yes you can. Just use the Home Application on your iPhone, iPad.. Then configure them the way you want..
Oh god, what’s next? Ford Fiesta vs F150?
😂
Hahahah🤣🤣

Where did you buy your watch bracelet?
$199 is a great product, $299 is a good product
the prices are actually $99 for the mini & $299 for HomePod 2nd Generation-just sayin 👏🏽
Any idea if mini is 10 or 20 W speaker? And what about the bigger one? Thanks!
HomePod Mini is 10w. But requires a 20W AC power adapter...HomePod 2 is 20 Watts max. Uses a straight 120volt plug cable...No Type C....
@@WizzRacing thank u. 10 and 20W seems to be very less compared to 80, 120, 160 watt speakers available in Homepod’s price range
Hi, please can you have 4 homepod2 speakers and test it for possibly a multi channel 4.0 audio, similar to Sony HTA9???
Hmmm. My HomePod mini won’t stream audio from iPad at all. Returning tomorrow. Disappointed.
I like how your ruler wasn’t even long enough for the big one 😂
It's 6.6-inches tall, it was just a bit taller than the 6-inch ruler! You can see where 6 inches was on the device, plus the size of the HomePod mini!
excited to see the difference as the scammer side me thinks apple is giving twice the sound for three times the price with the HomePod 2
2 Minis > 1 regular homepod for sure.
I actually really hate that the home pod mini cannot reliably play music over Bluetooth without dropping quality or cutting out.
Homepod Mimi help
Anyone have any ideas on room size considerations to determine mini or homepod? I have a small office approximately 15ftx15ft and not sure which would be more appropriate.
Mini
I'm gonna buy mini soon for the same room size.
Its $100 more in india
Can you pair them together ?
Yes! You can pair two HomePod minis together or two large HomePods together as stereo pairs. Otherwise, you can cast to multiple at the same time with AirPlay 2.
You didn’t answer the question
Can you pair a mini with a HomePod
@@christopherlewis10 thats what im trying to find out and everyone online goes around the question i don’t want to buy a HomePod mini and the new HomePod and it doesn’t work together
I think it needs two of the same type
Came here to say the mini is junk the sound is horrible it’s seems as there is one downward facing speaker at the bottom the sound is flat and distant and irritating after a while. Waste of money just buy the big one or something else. The one thing that does well is using it for a speaker phone. The mic pick up is very great and people can hear you. But you’re probably buying this for speaker so just pass.
yall just broke if yall go with the mini
Nga?
@@xotilweoverdose7736no worries, it lacks common sense
What a ridiculous click bait video.
Hey There Bn Hli, I'm just curious. Why would you call this ridiculous or clickbait? I said this was a comparison between these two devices and I showed you physical and software differences. As the title said I provided a feature comparison, an audio comparison, and guide recommendations at the end. I feel I upheld what I had promised.
I'm not mad you didn't like the video, but I do want to put out the best videos I can.
I’m a RUclips premier user. I see a lot of clickbait. A LOT. This video wasn’t clickbait
@@SantoValentino Thanks Santo!
Where is the clickbait? Homepod mini and gen 2 is in the title and in the video.
Man, people are so damn weird.
@@AppleInsider some people just want to seek attention and be negative for the sake of it.
Best ignored.
That said, of course theres sonically no comparison between the 2, but the mini sounds very decent for its size and much better than the similarly sized amazon echo dot.
A stereo pair of minis sounds much better than they have reason to.....
Maybe a good or better example would be to compare a single HomePod v2 with a stereo pair of minis - still 100 cheaper and yet giving you proper stereo separation.... sounding great, working well as TV speakers in a smaller room with an appleTV, and all for a much more affordable price.
