The problem now is they won't give any pain medicine to anyone who needs it. Complain about addictions and everyone suffers. Have an operation, too bad. You gotta deal with the pain. Get a tooth pulled, too bad. Not everyone abuses their meds.

No. It would be wonderful if it were that easy, but try to offer an opioid addict going through withdrawals some THC, and see what happens. They have to be off the drugs first. They are afraid of not having opioids; they aren't try to stay intoxicated with a less lethal substance. The closest alternative would be Kratom.

Go to a pain clinic, or your mom rather, if that’s not an option , go to methadone clinic and claim addiction, that second option would be a pain at least at first, but it beats suffering I would think. I’ve been through all this stuff with my mom and brother, mom needing meds and having to go to a pain clinic instead of being able to get them from her regular doctor. General MD’s are scared of the DEA or who ever scrutinizes their prescriptions. Once the people at the pain clinic realize your mom is in actual pain , if it’s a decent clinic ,they will stop thinking she’s just wanting pain meds to sell or get high, they are programmed to suspect every patient for the same reason as the MD’s.
Edit; if you have options, check reviews on clinic and maybe get a decent doc at one somewhere. 90 percent of them seemed to be staffed with people , including the docs that are borderline incompetent on top of just being in the whole thing for money, they could careless, you should know this before you try to deal with one. Sometimes the better option is a methadone clinic, keep that in mind if you happen to go that way, best of luck to your mom and yourself. There is also always weed, it does offer some relief and has excellent anti inflammatory properties, you don’t have to smoke it anymore, it can be vaped and comes in a wide range of edibles. Delta 8 THC is suppose to be legal everywhere now. It’s effective, might want to consider it. Good luck

At the moment I've been waiting for my synthetic opioid medication for two days, the pain keeps me in bed most of the day. I've stopped using opioids on the docs prescription twice now. This time it's just to much. The law makers fall into the trap of almost banning opioids by putting a lot of pressure on doctors to not prescribe. Thats the problem with all of you that think you're not drug addicts just because u're prescribed! Many think the drug help them "function" and help them live a better life, that might be true at some level, but u mostly feel good because u're high on pharmaceutical heroin! Of course life feel better, it works exactly the same for street opioids addicts.
Oh and by the way, when i have a bad toothache , a single paracetamol 1g pill is more effective for the pain than me popping or snorting a whole Oxycontin 80mg.
But most people dont realize that and i cant blame them this stuff feel too good .
Im blessed to be in Europe where i can score easily 60x Original OC80'S for less than 50$.. in the states i would be super lucky to get half of a pill with that money 😭
And the most astonishing thing is that nobody Care about it, the heroin junkies keep doing their Brown cause there is still no fentanyl in it and the general population is more about coke and party drugs .
Oxy in Europe is almost a niche .

How can anyone still ask what’s driving the opioid problem? In South Carolina, the most effective, natural herbal remedy is illegal. If you want a script, just go see the right doctor and get your oxycodone and heroin addiction prescribed. I know there’s too much money in pharmaceuticals keeping marijuana illegal, federally and in certain states. Lobbying should be illegal.

I've been in the methadone program for a while now and missing a dose or two is far harder than when I was into pills. Unfortunately got into heroin among other things. All started with a prescription for percocet, I have terrible anxiety and was hooked to that "everything's okay" feeling. A little over 3 months "clean" now but getting off methadone is gonna be one of the hardest things I've ever done. It's just government regulated opiate addiction to keep the money coming in. It's better than the alternative yes but I feel that a lot of us wish we went cold turkey once we get some time in the program. And I'm not even on probation. But can't drink or smoke marijuana..... because I'm taking methadone 🙄 Sorry to ramble but it's quite the racket tbh

The people who would die from oxycodone not cut with any drugs would have to be opioid naive, or stopped taking them, recovered, relapse, and then restart at the prior dosage. I've known people die from hydrocodone alone by stopping and starting up again.
