milk is a life saver for me! I'm 31 weeks pregnant and I've been drinking small glasses throughout the day and it prevents the heartburn. hope it helps you out x
Hey Nat! So I am a nursing student and a future midwife! I've done research on pregnancy and symptoms etc. and on thing that has come up in back pain. When you sleep on your side, your belly pulls at the muscles on your sides and rib cage. A way to combat this is to stick a pillow under your belly to prop it up if you will. If that still isn't helping try putting a pillow between your legs, from thigh to ankle. This takes pressure off your lower back and evenly distributes it to your legs! Hope this helps!!
My midwife recommended sleeping using a wedge pillow so I'm not flat on my back. It helps gravity do its work and let the acid naturally stay down more. There is also a list of foods to avoid if you are prone to heartburn (chocolate, dairy, spicy foods, citrus, coffee, anything acidic like tomatoes and some fruits). There are also some foods you are supposed to only eat in combination with other foods because they help aid digestion (almond milk and blackberries is one that comes to mind). Hope that helps!
I'm a prenatal massage therapist, and I had massage during both of my pregnancies. It helps the back pain so much! Something that can help heartburn and your back is sleeping reclined at a 45° angle. At that angle, there's no pressure on the vena cava, and it helps keep heartburn down because you're not lying flat. Hope you can find some relief! :)
I know I’m super late on these videos but I just wanted to say thank you, I’m a young single mom going through pregnancy and your videos are literally so helpful and they make me not feel so alone and clear the confusion that pregnancy is, so thank you for sharing this beautiful experience 💖
Hi Natalie! It's December 2020 while I'm watching this. Granted, I watched all these pregnancy updates when I was pregnant with my first baby (born Feb 2019). I'm 25 weeks pregnant right now during the pandemic! What a crazy time in the world!
I know I'm a little late and it may be better. Try putting a pillow behind your back - that way you can sleep on your back but the pillow is tilting you enough that it may help both issues you are having. It helped me when I was pregnant - except I like to sleep half on my side and half on my stomach (something that's a little hard to do while pregnant)
I am a belly sleeper, currently 24 weeks and 5 days, and i still find myself on my belly, kind of on my side with one leg bent up. But my ob said the same thing, she said your body is naturally going to roll how you're used to sleeping she said your body is intune with the baby enough at this point that if they way you are laying is causing distress or anything to the baby you will wake up and move to a different position naturally. 😊
I love watching you're updates! I am 24 weeks pregnant and I am very much experiencing the heartburn. I am also a belly sleeper and something that has helped me with both of these issues is using my "chair pillow" to sleep at night. You can comfortably sleep on your back but you're also not completely flat so it helps with the heartburn! Hope this helps. Xo
I didn't get back pain during my pregnancy and I believe that sitting straight a lot and trying not to recline really played a huge role and strengthened my back. But I heard another mama say that doing yoga exercises for the back really helped her a lot.
They sell those maternity wedge pillows- they are small and you wedge it under your back while you're laying on your side and it really helps alleviate some of that pain/pressure from your belly!
I have suffered heartburn and reflux and took Nexium which was wonderful. As you have said you won't use meds another thing I have found very helpful is propping myself up into more of a sitting type position in bed. One last thing that really helps is gum. I am not a gum chewer but I find that if I keep some in my bedside table and use it when the heartburn arrives it subsides pretty quickly. Good luck Natalie, you look gorgeous.
So my midwife suggested dairy for heart burn. She talked up hagen daz vanilla ice cream like crazy because it is real dairy where other ice creams aren't. But I have found just a small glass of milk when heart burn crops up, will completely get rid of it every time!! For your back, try putting the pillow between your legs. I get horrible hip and back pain if I don't have a pillow between my knees.
Papaya chewable enzymes worked wonders for me during all 3 of my pregnancies. It's all natural and really helps with the heartburn. I think even just eating papaya fruit will help.
Can't believe you are 25 weeks already! I'm currently just under 18 and suffering with heartburn, I had it lots before pregnancy too but don't want to try medication to relieve it, the only thing I do is make sure I drink a whole glass of milk before bed or lying down, it's not been a miracle worker but it helps me at least fall asleep opposed to not being able to fall asleep because of the discomfort (although that causes another problem...the need to wee more!). I've also become a back sleeper in pregnancy after always being a side sleeper, let's just say sleep is easier said that done right now, for so so many reasons! All the best and hope you can relieve your symptoms! Xx
Hey Natalie! I wanted to talk about some natural heartburn remedies! I had a stomach ulcer and didn't want to pop a bunch of pills so this is what helped me! First, I would eliminate acidic foods as much as you can especially eliminate any hours before bed. Tomatoes, Coffee, Pizza, Spicy foods, fruit. Maybe eat some brown rice or oatmeal before bed to absorb any acid. Another suggestion is if sleeping on your side is necessary to alleviate heartburn, but your back hurts, maybe get a heating pad or hot water bottle and secure it to your pregnancy pillow so it stays on. I have heard baking soda works but I'd feel uncomfortable swallowing it. I would try acidic food elimination and some absorb any foods before bed. Best of luck! ❤️
Another suggestion: sleep with pillows under your knees to prop your legs up. Always alleviates any stomach aches following heartburn or just upset tummies in general.
Not pregnant, but I've had scoliosis for quite a while now. At least 10 years since we discovered it. I frequently wake up with back pains though and feel like no matter how I lay it just hurts. I have found though that it helps a LOT to do stretches during the day. Especially if you do them right before bed. Even though your back isn't hurting during the day, it will stretch out your back and prepare if for bed. I have certain stretches I like to do but you probably would want to do your own research based on where your back is hurting and also based on what you can do while you're pregnant. Hope that helps! It definitely helps me a ton!!! You look amazing and I LOVE your headboard😘
Thank you so much for the tips! I've never thought about "preparing for bed" but that makes a lot of sense when you're dealing with recurring back issues when sleeping. I'm so sorry to hear that you've been living with that condition. One of my best friends growing up had scoliosis and I know it was a terrible experience for her! Prayers for you, trooper Shirley!
Natalie Bennett try to mix baking soda (spoonful) diluted in some water. It helps! I recently had surgery to get my gallbladder removed and dealt with acid reflux/heart burn ever since...my doctor told me to try it, and it works!
Shirley White I also have scoliosis and have to agree that stretching your back before bed helps. My spouse also often gives me little back massages that stretches me out before going to sleep and it definitely helps.
25 weeks here as well! I have also been dealing with the heartburn issue. like others have said sleeping on an incline at night does wonders. also I do not eat less than 2 hours before I go to bed! I wasn't a back sleeper before being pregnant but have been sleeping more on my back now and I also deal with some rib discomfort. I find when I feel it hurting to prop pillows under my ribs to sort of elevate them helps to relieve some of the pressure! Love hearing your weekly updates, very comforting knowing other women are feeling this way too and very helpful that we are in the same pregnancy timeline!
Love the new house :) Raw carrots. Saved me when I was pregnant with my 2. The raw carrot soaks up acid and prevents it from slipping up into esophagus. I ate like 20 baby carrots a day! Good luck!
Also, I'm very much into essential oils. The best way to stay asleep so you don't wake and feel uncomfortable is lavender and vetiver. Diffuse lavender, spray from mister on pillow, and also do one drop of vetiver on each big toe. It works.
I really started feeling pregnant this week, too. I'm noticing clothes getting snug and me belly getting in the way a bit more at work. I'm currently trying to make sure my 4 and 2 year olds are grasping what will be happening in April! They are so excited for their little sister. :)
Sleeping suggestion: try stacking your pillows so that you're more reclined than horizontal in your sleep. If you have the kind of pregnancy pillow that's shaped like a long cilindrical sausage, you could try shaping it in a upside-down "U"shape and stack more pillows in its apex so that your back is inclined and the two armes formed by the pregnancy pillow give you a protected feel during the night. I hope this comment is at least understandable XD I've never been pregnant but i suffer from insomnia and that kind of pillow positioning helps me a lot :) i don't own a pregnancy pillow, but I recreate a similar position shaping two pillows like a "V" adding a third firmer one in the middle :3 Hope this helps!
I am 38 weeks pregnant and have had horrendous heartburn this pregnancy! One tip I learned was swallowing a spoonful of mustard. I wasn't brave enough to try it but it might help!
For the heartburn, they sell these pillows that go under the sheet that is angled and it sits u up at an angle and is so helpful. Also, I know ur a YL user and I'm sure they have something like the dolterra digest zen. I use that and I'll put a few drops under my tongue and rub it on my neck and chest, just be sure to mix it with coconut oil or something. It helps me a lot
I'm a pizza roll fiend. I started getting heart burn from them (now anything with tomatoes) and found that mustard helps. Whether you put it on your food or eat a little bit before or after eating or just eat it when you feel it coming on.
My husband and I didn't get gifts either for one another this Christmas. The gift to ourselves was the condo we purchased. But I did get another wedding band for the other side of my ring and he got a tool kit :) And I will be 24 weeks pregnant on Tuesday
hi Natalie, when I was pregnant I had a very bad heartburn and for me mint tea was the best thing to help! hope you get better, all the best for you and your boys!
try sleeping midway between side and back. put a thin pillow nudged under your back and one under your belly. I'm not sure if diet can change the heartburn.... not eating close to bedtime and avoid spicy or acidic foods. I hope you can find some relief. xoxo
What sort of pregnancy pillow did you get? Mine is like a long snake and wraps the whole way around, meaning it actually prevents me from rolling onto my back at night. I am someone who goes between sleeping on my side and on my back, and don't like staying all night long on my side. But the great thing about the pillow is that although it stops me going flat on my back, I can still lie with my weight on the part of the pillow that runs along my back - i.e. halfway angled between between flat and being on my side, which is a good compromise. I also ordered a wedge for under my belly which I can't wait to receive! I heard these can also help with issues like you're having with your back.
I have been following you my entire pregnancy and I am also at 25 weeks and when you said heartburn I laughed because mine has been awful!! I love watching your videos especially since we have been on the same page. My doctor just told me to make sure I don't lie down after I eat but I have had no real success
I’m 25 weeks pregnant and my acid reflux has been really bad. It started happening at the very beginning of my pregnancy, went away for a few weeks and now it’s back lol ! Usually only happens if I drink & eat certain things though thankfully!
try taking papaya enzymes... u should be able to get them at a health food store. I'm pregnant but I've always suffered with horrible heartburn nd taking a couple of those with a cold glass of milk of water helps tremendously
Try wedging the pregnancy pillow under your belly while on your side. If the pillow can prop you up and take some of the "weight" of your belly off of your back muscles, you may be more comfortable on your side, which would in turn help the heartburn. Good luck!
Eating Cucumber helps me a lot with heartburn and acidy stomach! I'm not pregnant but used to have a lot of problems with my tummy due to stress. Cucumber cools and reacts basic in the stomach. Worth a try :)
I would end up on my back with my twins. I would prop another pillow under my head to help with heartburn and then one on one of my sides so that I wasn't completely on my back. It was the comfiest way to sleep for me.
Laying on your left side while sleeping takes heartburn away because the acid can't get back up. I try it every time I have heartburn, and every time, it helps! Try that! :)
How are you guys doing with names? I'm not asking you to share the name if you have it already. I'm more curious about what you think you'll do. Are you planning on sharing it if you pick one before the birth? What's the reasoning behind your choice? Btw, my question is open to everyone. We have already picked our twins' names, the boy's name is actually something I picked when I was a child myself. We decided not to share them before they're born because one is named after grampa and the other after gramma, and we really want to see their reaction when we hand them the babies and tell them the names. It's getting a little harder though for me to just say baby boy and baby girl because I always think of them with their names. I hope I won't accidentally spill the beans! :D
we are only a few days apart in our pregnancies. baby #3 for me as well and man those symptoms along with feeling so tired all the time are so true right now
On the sleeping thing you could go on your side but put a pillow in between your back and the mattress so your kind of leaning on the pillow. I don't know if that makes sense but I hope it helps!!
I'm 6 weeks and a stomach sleeper. With my first baby I managed to find a partly on my side and partly on my belly way to sleep with pillows but I'd wake up with back pain. But it is no sleep or back pain I choose the latter. Not looking forward to it again
I'm 24 weeks pregnant and haven't got heart burn (thank god) but I had got horrible back ache and the only thing that helps me right now is a hot water bottle! It is a life saver in my opinion I had my partner rub my back for ages and didn't help at all but the hot water bottle really helps especially if a night. Give it a try but everyone's different do what works for someone might not work for you so still give it a try and see if it works
THIS IS HOME DAILY VLOGS I understand that with it being the summer, in the UK right now it's really cold so I don't have this problem myself maybe I will as it gets closer to May and due date but like I said everyone is different and you confirmed that, what worked for me did work for you but for you it wasn't the nicest option to use because of the heat whereas I can't stand being cold so I love it and get relief out of it, so everyone is defiantly different according to what works for them as individuals and thanks you I'm super excited and can't wait to meet him in May :)
as cassie randell already said, a huge glass of milk also helped me during my pregnancy when I had heartburn. Another thing which saved my life while I had heartburn were pills with calcium carbonate and magnesium carbonate. that is neutralising the acid in the stomach in a chemical reaction. this process is happening in the stomach so that the rest of the body has absolutely nothing to do with those pills. I don't know whether there are some kind of pills like that in the pharmacy in America, but I guess if you'll ask you will get further information there 😊
For heartburn, a friend of mine swears by black licorice. She eats a piece before bed every night and she says that it really does work! Give it a try, it might help.
I'm not sure how late I am on this video, but I just wanted to tell U guys unisom gel caps are great for insomnia. I took them A LOT but just two a nite, all thru my last pregnancy, and with this pregnancy at 25 weeks. It's pregnancy safe, and apparently helps U sleep with morning sickness as well.
Milk would help me with my heartburn, but it didn't always last long, so at night, if you keep it by the bed, it gets warm, but it's better than the heartburn!
Aloe Vera juice! You can by it online or at health food stores. Just make sure it's pure aloe juice and doesn't have preservatives because those give it a nasty taste.
Prayers for good sleep and relief from heartburn. Do hope that you got some good ideas about how to naturally deal those uncomfortable symptoms. Glad y'all are finally in your new home and getting settled. 😁
I used to drink a cup of milk whenever I had heartburn in my pregnancy. That was the only thing that used to work for me. You should try it out. Hope it helps.
You are 4 days ahead of me so its awesome to watch your weekly vlogs because I can relate :) Also having a baby girl! I am also experiencing heartburn for the first time in my life but it doesn't seem to be as bad as yours. Lots of fatigue too as we are also preparing for a move but 4500 miles away (Hawaii to SC)
try to line up your foot, ankle, and hip. meaning bottom leg straight top leg over firmer pillow ( cushion). I do Prenatal Massage, it should help. if your uterus were to flop back onto your vena cava ( from sleeping on your back) you would feel nauseous or your body's natural reaction should be to move😊💗 hope it helps and that you are feeling better
Something that may work for heartburn is milk or Kefir! Give it a try! My mom had 17 kids and this is something I think she used a lot. Congratulations on your pregnancy! Im a new subscriber and really enjoy your channels! God bless!
I actually have GERD so I'm so used to having it all the time. I can only take a certain medication prescribed by my doctor which is safe to take during pregnancy but I'm not taking it for other reasons. most of the time of I have horrible heartburn or a burst of indigestion yogurt or milk seem to calm it and help me through the night! maybe that'll help some! usually I can take a couple tums and be good through the day but at night I'll choose milk or yogurt and it just soothes it right down!
Are you going to tell us her name before she is born or wait until after she is born like you did with Liam and Judah. I can't believe you already are 25 weeks pregnant. I feel like it was just yesterday you announced it and I cried in my car on my work break watching it. God bless.
Milk has been my best friend this pregnancy. And I can't sleep on my left I always end up on my right side and on my stomach a little. 3 years later lol
How fun are these!!! As soon as i hit 25 weeks i started feeling hickups and now i feel them everyday. I also have started feeling like my pelvic bones are bruised and my dr said its because they get so stretched out with twins but that this is also my 3rd pregnancy singleton, twins, singleton. I am also due april 27th so a week after you
THIS IS HOME DAILY VLOGS my oldest is almost 6 and the twins will be 4 about 6 weeks after the baby gets here so they are super busy with activities!!! I am just so blessed to have them!!
Glad to know sleep position is not as huge of a deal. I am nearing 24 weeks and often wake up on my stomach. :O I've always been a stomach sleeper but I am definitely not TRYING to do that while pregnant. Thanks for sharing your experiences.
I had horrible horrible HORRIBLE heartburn during my pregnancy and surprisingly drinking a glass of milk before bed really helped!
i usually drink a huge glass of milk when i have acid or heartburn problems and that usually does the trick for me...
I really enjoy watching bump updates while pregnant! I'm 25 weeks and 2 days right now
milk is a life saver for me! I'm 31 weeks pregnant and I've been drinking small glasses throughout the day and it prevents the heartburn. hope it helps you out x
25 weeks pregnant during COVID! Due October 17, 2020

They sell those maternity wedge pillows- they are small and you wedge it under your back while you're laying on your side and it really helps alleviate some of that pain/pressure from your belly!
Zantac or the generic prescribed from your ob/gyn is completely safe to take during pregnancy and was a lifesaver for me

I used papaya tablets whenever I ate and before bed it helped so much with all of my pregnancies! Hoping you get some relief.
I agree with Milk. Regardless of when I ate I have a small glass of milk before bed and it seems to help the heartburn. I'm 19weeks pregnant.

Baking soda helps with heartburn. So do almonds! Praying your symptoms get better and you get some rest! Can't wait to see baby's nursery!
heart burn remedy water and baking soda. it tastes nasty but just drink as quickly as you can, wash down with a bit of milk or soy milk.

Beautiful video again. I m about 20weeks pregnant and so happy about seeing your updates. All the best for you.
Hi Natalie, i am also 25 weeks pregnant and when heartburn occurs I drink milk. This really helps me.
A teaspoon of baking soda in a cup of a water really helps with heartburn but don't drink it too much because it has alot of sodium.
try sleeping midway between side and back. put a thin pillow nudged under your back and one under your belly.

Worth a try :)
eat papaya! I buy the dried papaya Spears and keep them on hand. 1-2 inches a few times a day...especially when heartburn starts.
Your new bedroom looks so so cozy!!
I'm not pregnant but whenever I get heartburn I drink a cup of warm jasmine green tea plain or with honey.
Love these updates you look amazing. I'm so excited for your new home
A tablespoon of mustard works wonders for my heart burn/acid reflex. I hate the taste but power through it. It's actually an alkaline food
It's really interesting to hear what you have to say, Natalie. It is so fun to see what to do.
I always drink evaporated milk when I get heartburn and it helps a lot!
I know it's late, but I eat crystallised stem ginger to ease heart burn and acid reflux, it's not great but soothes it almost immediately!
Yes i was a backsleeper with my first and i can say my dr said the same thing and my daughter turned out perfect.
Wait seriously everyone has said not to sleep on ur back but it’s all that seems comfortable
My goodness, you're so pretty! I love that lip colour! I think I'll have to run out and get it for myself😊
The prescription my doctor gave me for heart burn has worked wonders.. it's also long lasting for me that is
shot glass with water and a 1 tsp or 2 of baking soda....stir to dissolve baking soda and down it. never fails me!
Heyyy I’m 25 weeks and 1 day prego today!! I have a little 3 1/2 year old daughter and another daughter on the way. And I’m 26 years old
Prayers for good sleep and relief from heartburn.
Milk helps with heartburn. Milk is a base and it helps neutralize the acid in your stomach :)
When I was pregnant I had really bad heartburn and I used milk and honey and it help me hope it helps you 😊
try to line up your foot, ankle, and hip. meaning bottom leg straight top leg over firmer pillow ( cushion).
God bless!
I recommend you to eat almonds. Really helps when I suffer from heartburn. ( I am 25 weeks pregnant too ♡ )
I actually have GERD so I'm so used to having it all the time.
God bless.
papaya enzymes! I had horrible heartburn with both of my pregnancies and they were the only thing that worked!
26 weeks pregnant and suddenly feeling very pregnant too!
Baking soda has helped me with heart burn. It's salty and unpleasant, but it worked very fast.
Home heartburn ideas:
Drinking milk
Sucking on mints
Eating an apple or banana
I get heart burn pain too I’m 26 weeks today I usually eat gum or the white tic tacs it kinda helps..
What lipstick are you wearing? It's the perfect January shade! Happy new year, and I'm so glad you all had a safe move.❤️
Happy new year to you too! Lipstick info in the description box!
Btw, you are glowing in this video!
Milk has been my best friend this pregnancy. And I can't sleep on my left I always end up on my right side and on my stomach a little. 3 years later lol
ESSENTIAL OILS!! They work like a charm!
so blooming nat!!! happiness radiates on your face 😍
I'm only 17 weeks and I'm getting hip and back pain too :( so bad to lay on my hips at night and I'm trying to stay on my side! So tough
I slept in the recliner. That way I wasn't bothering hubs, who had to go to work. Hope it helps. God speed♡
Glad to know sleep position is not as huge of a deal. I am nearing 24 weeks and often wake up on my stomach. :O I've always been a stomach sleeper but I am definitely not TRYING to do that while pregnant. Thanks for sharing your experiences.
THIS IS HOME DAILY VLOGS Thank you :)
I use a small pillow under the belly to 'prop' it up when on my side. They do have wedges as others commented too.
Your videos are so touching!
