Great groove!! Love your videos, they help me a lot. Actually I am a Drummer myself . Been playing for almost 5 years now. Your videos in particular have helped me a lot. Keep it upp👍👍 Question:Do you have any good advice for me as a Drummer, like what new styles I should try and all that?
It´s fascinating how much Patterns of two or three simple Notes can shape the Character and Temper of a whole Genre and so many Patterns overlap througout the different Genres..😄
Soca is the base for this, but not exactly this. Soca use calypso pattern for hi-hat or cymbals, at snare completly, but here... That is the variant that caused the "dembow" or "reggaeton" rithym, were you cut off a little, that snare pattern and just leave those couples of notes
"SOCA" I've drummed this pattern for many years and it's the first time I knew it had a name having had no lessons over the years there's probably many more fills and rudiments that I've played and have no idea what they are called knowledge is power(ratamacue anyone?)
I'm a soca drummer and I love this 👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿
According to one of my books, this rhythm is also called "Calypso"
Hey!! Soca is basically soul and calypso(SO-CA, the first 2 initials)
@@Orenmiranda Ok. Didn't know that. Thank you
@@OrenmirandaIt’s actually meant to imitate Indian rhythm.

See. You can learn from anyone. Even the simplest least talented of teachers.
