  • Confused on what all those settings do on the Fox Shocks on the Renegade XXC? Well here is a little break down on what the settings do and how to adjust them. This also works for any shock built like the Fox Podium 1.5 RC2's such as Elkas or any shock with similar adjustments

Got 2015 scrambler 1000..my situation is opposite..fronts are too stiff .these shocks are made for going over rough stuff fast..not slow speed riding. Got to send them out to be re-valved and / or different springs

Abhilash Venkat I no longer have it so I’m not sure. You may be able to find it in the Fox site though

I fully agree. Glad I went with the XXC over the base model. Hopefully the trails open soon. Only had one decent ride putting 12 miles on it.

Nice not far to go! I have an ATV park I'm going to on May 6th and our trails open here on May 15th unless we get lucky with good dry weather and they open sooner. I'll have it broken in a few days after they open either way. I really want to start playing around w/ the shock settings more.

I will be anxious to hear what your suspension setup ends up being. I have the xxc as well, I figure I'm about a hundred and sixty pounds with gear, and for me I think this thing rides horrible. I can't seem to get the settings right so the thing rides plush. Even with everything soft and my preload adjusted about 2in softer from Factory I'm still unhappy with the ride quality of this Renegade. I'm hoping that I will eventually find a video or be able to talk to someone that can steer me in the right direction with these adjustments. But I'm pretty confident now that I'm going to have to have a suspension makeover in order to get this machine to ride the way I want and not bottom out on little jumps.

I've messed around with it a lot since doing this video and have it around where I want it now. I have just over 400 miles on it total. I roade a friends Polaris XP 1000 and it road really nice and just floated over everything but I think the main difference was that it was a little wider and on 14' wheels VS the 12'" on the Renegade. I took suggestions from people on forums but I came to the conclusion that because what feels right to one person does not feel right to the other and we all ride in different types of terrian. I have everything from sandy type trails to flat rail road beds to rocks and granite and stumps / roots. The best adivise I can give you is to make small adjustments at a time and only adjust one thing at a time. If you start changing to much at once its hard to tell what adjustment made what for a difference. I did adjust the rebound on all 4 corners I felt as though with the stock setting it it wanted to return back to its regular position w/ out really having time to float over anything. My rear was really stiff so I have been working on that some. I have some down time now due to waiting for parts to come in after hitting a large rock and needing a new bumper / front plate that goes over the bottom of the bumper plate. As of now I am happy with it pending a few other minor adjustments but I think with 26" tires instead of the stock 25" it will provide a little more comfort. Have to remember that the XXC was built for GNCC racing on more or less flat smoother type trails so when you get into the rocky / rough stuff its going to require more adjustment on the suspension.

GRAY_FOX-XXC it no doubt ride stiff specially in the rear. The front I've gotten pretty good but the back is horrible. You can push down on the back end and the thing hardly wants to go down, even after softening everything up almost all the way. One guy I talked to thought that maybe my Springs were too soft and that the shock was not travelling where It need to.
I've made a lot of adjustments little bits at a time and I've not been able to improve the ride over real Rocky Terrain. Like you said this was probably set up for more flat type riding and caters more to whoops and jumps then it does a smooth ride over choppy stuff. The smooth ride over choppy stuff and not bottoming out if I do go over a jump or something is the type of ride that I want. Without some internal shock work I'm thinking that is just not going to happen. A lot of things about my 16 Grizzly I don't like but the suspension is awesome, very smooth and if you do go off a jump or hit a unexpected bump hard it's soaked sit-up without bottoming out. And they're just basic non adjustable shocks. Was very disappointing to get this $14,000 machine with these high-dollar Fox shocks and have it perform worse then my dinky Yamaha Grizzly with stock shocks.

My back end was really stiff as well with no give at all. It has a little now but not where I would want it to be but than again I do not think its suppose to feel like the front either. I'll do some more riding next weekend and see where things are from there.

If you find a miracle for the rear, please do share. I would very much appreciate it.
Like I said, front is pretty good, the rear shocks are my big problem.
Like you said, very little give. And I've tried to lossen stuff up quite a bit.

Curtis Bull I definitely will. I’m hoping the rear loosens up some on its own now that I adjusted it some but it still has very little give as of now. I’ll keep messing with the settings and update if I find anything that makes a big difference
