I still do for every time I see this scene. Vergil really sacrificed himself to save his brother from being trapped in the underworld, and he did it secretly and thanklessly. No one has been as noble and altruistic as he is. And he was only 18 at this point. His future was in total forfeiture because of it. And people still claims that new garbage has a better story with better characters.. Those people sure as hell couldn't understand the great story and character development from this game. Such a shame that their stupidity cause the reboot to go on. Because they are too stupid for even this game... It's such a shame that they even dare to call themselves games...
Both the reboot and the original have terrible stories BUT! DMC1+3 kept it simple, had better pacing and build up for the bosses which made it more enjoyable, especially in regards to gameplay that is a real challenge while DmC was a clusterfuck of terrible writing which the developers put too much focus on and no build up to any bosses, especially bad by how Vergil was suddenly thrown in as a boss
Are you serious? Like, come on. Really? Itsuno and his team can hardly write for crap. All this is just rather poor melodrama. I mean, as a video game I dig this game, but you've got to be really out of touch to call this great story telling. The characters are also just about as complex as coloring books. I love Devil May Cry, but I'm not oblivious to its faults. These rose tinted glasses people have for the originals are practically blindfolds for some of you. And get over yourselves lol. The reboot wasn't the worst thing ever by a long shot and I've been a fan since the beginning. The narrative, while not the greatest I've ever seen, was also fairly done. It did it's job and knew how to balance the cheesy over the top and more dramatic tones. Something Itsuno never could grasp. I do miss the spirit of the first game though. That was a game that was fairly straightforward, self aware, and never tries to be anything more or less than it is. This stuff is all just bleh at times.
+Spikey Wikey I wanted to prove how wrong you are but if you don't understand their genius in writing than why should I bother? Even if I do spell it out for you you will still not understand it. I mean even after the scene with Lady and Arkham you still say this there is no help for you. Their writing is unconventional but it isn't even near to being bad. It's only that uncultured swines like you cannot understand and appreciate the Shakespearian story the games had. But I do admit that you need to have a good knowledge of the lore to understand so that might be why you don't get it.
Krisztian Bari Dude, what's wrong with you? Just because people liked the reboot don't make them stupid, and just because you didn't like it doesn't make it bad and doesn't make you "better" than the people that did
Spikey '' The narrative, while not the greatest I've ever seen, was also fairly done. It did it's job and knew how to balance the cheesy over the top and more dramatic tones. '' Sorry but reboot was a steaming pile of garbage shit with plotholes larget than size of Temen-ni-gru.
Symbolism my friend. In ancient times when you had a kid it was like the extension of your soul. Dante tries to stop Vergil by using this knowing that Vergil always had a love and respect for their father but it was too late. Vergil could no longer be reasoned with since his thirst for power was too great. Which really makes sense too since Vergil wanted that power due to the memory of being completely useless and unable to defend his mother and Dante from the demons when they were seperated. When Dante says that "And now, my soul. It says it's wants to stop you" he means that he knows that their father as well would disapprove of what Vergil is doing (along with Dante himself of course).
Dante apparently didn't get it at that moment. Vergil had respected his decision to stay in the human world and protected him from being trapped in the underworld. They were running out of time and the fight would take too long to finish, that was why Vergil intentionally lost the fight and took the fall for him. Vergil equipped the new sword that he was not acquainted to and refrained from harming Dante, but Dante didn't know and still gave his all. In their final charge you could clearly tell Vergil lifted his hand up and skipped Dante. Dante slashed him in full charge and seriously wounded him. You could tell he was a little surprised to see Dante's ruthless and unleashed behavior and the amount of damage he had landed. He was really going for blood. And then he left his father's sword to let Dante use it to defend mankind while he kept the amulet for an emotional sake. And also to keep the amulets apart in two worlds so that no one could collect both and open the seal again. Dante was surprised to see he said he wanted power but left the devil arm with power to his keepsake while took the powerless amulet that was given by his mother. He finally got it at this moment, but it was too late. Vergil fell down fast so that Dante would run to the portal and escape in time. When he said he wanted to stay in his father's old home you could tell the emotional pains he was experiencing. He knew he was doomed. He knew his future would be in forfeiture and his life would be ruined. He really sacrificed himself to save Dante, secretly and thanklessly. This version of Vergil is not the same as the DMC5 version. This one is young, kind and caring. Vergil wanted to protect mankind just as much as Lady did, possibly more than Dante did. It was through the loss of his last kin and the guidance of Lady that Dante grew up as a person and became the vengeful devil hunter he was shown in DMC1.
What hits me the hardest is Dante's face when Vergil lets himself drop. For all the shit the twins talked to each other during the game, Dante didn't want Vergil to die, but seeing him just drop himself into the Underworld just... broke him a bit inside.
How does Dante have the amulet with the silver chain in this game and have the one with the gold chain in DMC 1 even though Vergil had the gold one in this one.
Lady only fired 4 bullets. She started with an arsenal and didn't blink when fighting scores of low end demons. Always carry more ammo than what the mission demands.
What?! I loved both DMC3 and DMC4 plots! They are both amazing! How dare you say that! Devil May Cry 4 is my childhood along with Devil May Cry 3! I've also tried to play first Devil May Cry and second one... but they were boring. But still better than DMC DmC.
Кейли Тамирианская DMC4's plot started very strong, but at the end of the day you see it was just one more joke job for Dante as you repeat every single stage and boss with him. Making bad jokes that won't ever match DMC3's ones. The poem scene was the last drop of water for me, as i knew the plot went completely downhill. Nero and Kyrie? Pfft, who cares. They should've killed her so things would've been more interesting. DMC3's plot is brilliant because it goes for the other way around. The Studio Ghilbi way of telling stories if you may. It start as a simple day, a bad joke. But at the end ,it was one deadly serious masterpiece of a plot, as well as one of the most important days in Dante's life. DmC's plot is miles better than DMC4's joke day, if you ask me. You can't EVER compare Dante vs Vergil fight and his subsequent decay, to Dante/Nero banging some fanatic oldbag.
Lol, its not about taking it personally the "NEW REBOOT" is simply isnt good enough, the reboot is in a futuristic modern world and some plot of it just doesnt match up, almost nothing in it makes sense. Dont know why capcom tried to fix something which was not broken at all :/
They are really wasting time. Vergil already respected Dante's decision to remain in the human world and wanted Dante to escape ASAP so that he wouldn't be trapped in the underworld. But Dante still insisted on fighting. That was why Vergil took the fatal blow and fell down fast. He just wanted Dante to run away. He even left his father's sword and kept the amulet to Dante's surprise. Dante finally knew what actually happened, but it was too late. He could not save Vergil from falling to his doom.
sadly Vergil could have beaten mundus, if he had full strength, but at the same time mundus aka prince of the darkness is far to powerful to be fighting a half demon half human aka son of sparda , because it took his father to banish mundus into the demon world. Lucky Vergil was spared and was taken over by mundus and then in dmc1 Dante kills Vergil.
LukeMM95 I don't think it's because it was "stripped of fine detail" actually. It's probably due to porting it over to a higher resolution engine that caused it. I'm not an expert, so don't take my word for it. Also the fringe is always there, be it the original release or the HD collection.
Hey i wanna ask is nero is vergil son? Becuse in devil may cry 4 ( i forget that man name) say if nero related to sparda. Well i think like that first becuse dante and vergil is half demon maybe they generation is quarted demon second becuse nero have blue arua same with vergil well sory if i wrong XD well actualy there also chance if nero is vergil reborn (actualy) sory if i wrong ^_^ ijust newbie devil
Well, it's hinted in the DMC4 Manga that Nero is Vergil's son, but there are other theories saying that Vergil could be living through Nero by using his body as a vessel of some sort
nobody knows, the story of dmc 4 is not complete may he is vergil´s son, maybe he is vergil reincarnation, or maybe he is another son of sparda or maybe vergil spirit is on nero´s arm and he kinda controls nero and thats why he want more power (like vergil) maybe vergil is winning more power throw nero until he gets enough so he can create a new body with his demon megic so he can stop living as a parasite
I don't think so. That's pretty stupid if you ask me and doesn't make much sense. The ages don't match up well. Plus, I always perceived Vergil as a very asexual character. Where would have he got a girl pregnant? Why would he care? I think a more probable theory is Nero being a reincarnation of Sparda somehow. But, whatever. They never thought this shit through which is why the canon is riddled with plot holes and continuity issues. Nero is a walking plot hole, and DMC 3 practically retcons and contradicts the established canon from the first. They aren't very good at this story thing.
***** That picture though. XD But anyway, It's you opinion about the story and I thought the story was good. Not the best but a good storyline. At least they are gonna make Devil May Cry 4: Special Edition. Plus that is what I thought too. Vergil wouldn't care to get a girl pregnant so I thought his spirit went into Nero's arm.
When Devil May Cry finally come to its end of the series, i hope they will make the story-ending-conlclusion as dramatic as this, or maybe more, im hoping for the best.
Little weird becuse we only can know why dante and vergil fight is by playing devil may cry 5. And devil may cry 5 is same story with devil may cry 1 only little thing diferent

The only reason vergil was so greedy for power is because he was not strong enough to save his beloved mother. Can’t be more human
Devils never cry,Dante said that in all three games.I was kinda hoping he said that in the 4th game, but he didn't.
There was no reason to.

"I'M ABSOLUTELY CRAZY ABOUT IT!"
+Spikey Wikey
I wanted to prove how wrong you are but if you don't understand their genius in writing than why should I bother?
'' Sorry but reboot was a steaming pile of garbage shit with plotholes larget than size of Temen-ni-gru.
his soul!
my soul is telling me to STOP YOU!
lmfao why he gotta say it like it
Symbolism my friend.
Because saying shit that way back then was cool lol
I should have been the one to fill your dark soul with light!!!!!

I Love When Vergil Says "I Need More Power!!" 4:30
Dude Dante is the ultimate badass
come for the Vergil/Dante parts
stay and cry for Lady's absolution
What hits me the hardest is Dante's face when Vergil lets himself drop.
For all the shit the twins talked to each other during the game, Dante didn't want Vergil to die, but seeing him just drop himself into the Underworld just... broke him a bit inside.
How does Dante have the amulet with the silver chain in this game and have the one with the gold chain in DMC 1 even though Vergil had the gold one in this one.
In the hd collection I think he has the silver one in dmc 1 but dante have the gold one at the start of dmc 3
I LOVE YOU. Thank you soo much! Now I can finally edit with HD DMC 3
Lady only fired 4 bullets. She started with an arsenal and didn't blink when fighting scores of low end demons. Always carry more ammo than what the mission demands.
4:35 i came for this, the way the ost drops at the same time, dmc 3 is perfect
the first time we all saw 3:30 let's admit... we panicked a little bit
Come to think of it....DMC4's plot was an absolute shit compared to this.
TheKrustaceox Hey, i cried at ending of DMC4!

and there is people that says that dmcs doesn´t have a plot and the new dmc have a better story

Lol, its not about taking it personally the "NEW REBOOT" is simply isnt good enough, the reboot is in a futuristic modern world and some plot of it just doesnt match up, almost nothing in it makes sense. Dont know why capcom tried to fix something which was not broken at all :/

Dante vs Vergil dmc3
Dante: Your Never Gonna Be Like My Father
Vergil:*TRIGGER* WAISTING TIME!!
11 min, 11 sec, 11 years ago.
that scream was so unnaturally high and afraid. like, compared to his whole speech's demeanour, its just laughable.
I'm agree. But only a point of view. DMC is actually a good game. Of course it's not close to the old ones.
sadly Vergil could have beaten mundus, if he had full strength, but at the same time mundus aka prince of the darkness is far to powerful to be fighting a half demon half human aka son of sparda , because it took his father to banish mundus into the demon world. Lucky Vergil was spared and was taken over by mundus and then in dmc1 Dante kills Vergil.
Except for the fact he doesn't and Vergil SOMEHOW survives.
03:55 What's wrong with the hair in his eyes? That wasn't in the PS2 version.
LukeMM95 I don't think it's because it was "stripped of fine detail" actually. It's probably due to porting it over to a higher resolution engine that caused it. I'm not an expert, so don't take my word for it. Also the fringe is always there, be it the original release or the HD collection.
LukeMM95 Well I guess they did change it somewhat, or were too lazy to make it like the PS2 version.
You know, even as a little kid I always wondered how Vergil wasn't cut straight in half here 🤔
Regeneration go BRRRRRRR
What happened to Rebellion, though?

nero: ill kill vergil
lady: hahahaa Pls dont :"D
Hey i wanna ask is nero is vergil son? Becuse in devil may cry 4 ( i forget that man name) say if nero related to sparda.
Well i think like that first becuse dante and vergil is half demon maybe they generation is quarted demon second becuse nero have blue arua same with vergil well sory if i wrong XD
well actualy there also chance if nero is vergil reborn (actualy) sory if i wrong ^_^ ijust newbie devil
Nero is Vergil's son
Well, it's hinted in the DMC4 Manga that Nero is Vergil's son, but there are other theories saying that Vergil could be living through Nero by using his body as a vessel of some sort
nobody knows, the story of dmc 4 is not complete
may he is vergil´s son, maybe he is vergil reincarnation, or maybe he is another son of sparda or maybe vergil spirit is on nero´s arm and he kinda controls nero and thats why he want more power (like vergil) maybe vergil is winning more power throw nero until he gets enough so he can create a new body with his demon megic so he can stop living as a parasite
Only thing I enjoy about this mission is Devils Never Cry the piano version it brings tears to me eyes no lie
