    Thank you SO MUCH for your channel! I have already booked an extensive trip to Spain and Portugal this year, so I know which cities I'm staying in and I'm getting around by train, but I still need to work out what I'm doing (including day trips). Your videos are so clear and helpful. I was trying to puzzle my way through all of the information about different Alhambra tickets and how a visit works, and this particular video made things much clearer (and you included the places included in the "Dobla de Oro General" ticket as well). I now have much more confidence in how to spend my time in Granada (4 nights, phew!) and look forward to seeing more about other cities that I'm visiting.

    Hi Tony, I really appreciate your videos. You provide very clear and very organized advice. We are travelling this October to Andalusia and will have in total 8 days actual visits without including days we are travelling in and out. We will land in Malaga and fligh out from Seville. I saw your video on some dos and donts and now I am not sure if our initinerary is doable. We are thinking 1 day in Malaga, next 2 days in Ronda and Pueblos BLancos, then 2 nights in Granada, 1 full day in Cordoba and then 3 days in Seville. We are thinking to rent a car in Malaga.

    Hello Tony, we took your advise and are going to spend 3 nights and two full days in Granada (March 2024). We will arrive on Friday and depart on Monday morning to Barcelona . The question is wether the weekend is too busy and /or too many places are closed on Sunday , in which case , should we add another day to spend in Granada . At present we have 8 days in Malaga and can definitely change that.
    Thank you very much for your wonderful, educational and informative videos.

    • @ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal
      @ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal  10 месяцев назад +1

      Hi Bobby. Most tourist attractions should open on Sunday but you could play it safe and book your visit to the Alhambra on that day. 8 days in Málaga sound like an awful lot so it might be wise to transfer another night to Granada. In our opinion, Granada has more content than Málaga. All the best!

    Hi Tony, it appears that there is no audio guide offered at the official patronato website when buying the ticket to ALhambra. Do you think joining a guided tour would be useful ? I note that you are advising against buying tickets from other websites. Thanks for your advice. .

      There is an audioguide you can book in advance: www.alhambra-patronato.es/en/visit/services/audioguides Or rent it on the spot once you get to the Alhambra. A guided tour will always add value to your visit, but the audioguide is quite good too.

      Hi Bobby, most shops (except for those catering for tourists) will close on Sunday, as well as local food markets. For tourist attractions, is just another day. As the number of visitors inside the Alhambra is limited, the day of the week doesn't make a big difference. Hola Tony!
    I wanted to ask why you feel the Nasrid Palace portion of visiting the Alhambra should be left toward the end of the day? Would this be for all times of the year, including summer visits?
    Would it be busier to visit in the early morning from tour groups?
    I am trying to narrow down a ticket time and some people say early morning visit is better but others (like yourself) say crowds die down as the day goes on later, so would love your opinion on this.
    Mil gracias como siempre! ❤

    • @ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal
      @ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal  4 месяца назад +1

      Hello again. Our advice to leave the visit to the Nasrid Palaces at the end of the visit is not due to the amount of visitors or the light conditions but to the fact that they are the most extraordinary part of the complex. Better to leave the best for the end. Un abrazo.

We planned a full day and would like to cover all including the Nasrid and Alcazaba, understand tha Nasrid time of visit must be specified. 2) is the ticket good for one day or multiple days? can we come back to say Alcazaba or Generalife on the next day using the same ticket? Appreciate your reply.

    • @ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal

      Hello there! Your questions:
      1) The Dobla de Oro General includes entry to Alhambra and access to a series of monuments in the Albaicín neighborhood. You will only be able to visit if you dedicate enough time to Granada - we recommend a minimum of three nights in the city.
      2) the ticket of the Alhambra is valid for just the date stated on it.

    One more question; could you recommend a day trip from Granada ? Would Almeria be an interesting trip?
    Thank you

      That's a good question for which we don't have a clear answer. Almería wouldn't be our choice. Probably the region of the Alpujarras, which we haven't explored yet. Or, depending on the time of the year, Sierra Nevada near Granada.

    Amazig y Granada se funden aquí en una asociación indisoluble para el resto de la Historia. En efecto, la Granada actual no se concebiría de la misma forma sin la impronta de los ziríes. La llegada de estos beréberes ṣinhāŷa a Ilbīra y su decisión de trasladar la capital del emirato, entonces en ciernes, a la actual Granada tienen unas consecuencias indelebles. En el 1013, Granada se convierte por primera vez en una ciudad islámica y además capital de una formación política independiente: la taifa zirí. A partir de ahí experimentará un desarrollo vertiginoso alcanzando unos límites próximos al de su máximo apogeo medieval y moderno. A los ziríes Granada les debe un legado monumental de gran originalidad que jalona el paisaje urbano (Torre alminar de San José, la coracha con la Bāb al-Difāf, Distrito de Albaicín, el Bañuelo…) y periurbano, con las redes de acequias. Incluso, la decisión de establecer una primera Alhambra que, en forma de castillo, marcaría las pautas a seguir dos siglos más tarde por los nazaríes.

    is there a public transport card in granada? Do the buses accept credit cards for tickets purchase?

    • @ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal
      @ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal  7 месяцев назад

      The public transport card is called CREDIBUS. We understand payment with credit cards has been implemented on Granada buses, but haven't tried it ourselves.

    SCAM ALERT! I am going to be visiting granada in two weeks. I purchased tickets for the Alhambra from a link that says Official and the website looks extremely professional with no indication that it is a different company. I purchased the tickets for 85$ each and now that I see the real website I am really frustrated that I was 140$ extra. I am usually really good at spotting these things! That is so much money. Now the time slots on the official page are all booked up so if I could even get a refund I would miss out on seeing the Alhambra. The tick site was through My top tours and I didn't know that until I recieved the email confirmation. I hope the tickets are at least real and I get to see the site.

      Really sorry you felt for a scam that is becoming more common every day. We published a video on exactly the same scam but applied to the Sagrada Familia in Barcelona: ruclips.net/video/puD7LKTiplA/видео.html Hope your tickets will be legit, in the case of resellers of Alhambra tickets, there is the additional risk of the tickets not being accepted at the entrance. All tickets must have the name of the person who purchased them written on them.

      @@ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal I saw your video about Sagrada Familia and my ticket they are ok. I am usually really cautious as I have traveled quite a bit. I just could not believe how authentic this website looked! I contacted the Alhambra and they let me know the tour company does sell real tickets. In our opinion, and that of some our art specialist colleagues (who initially cautioned us against the nocturnal sojourn), in its current disposition, the night visit epitomizes an absolute squandering of resources, featuring a lighting project devoid of merit and an array of constraints that transmute the visitation into a suboptimal odyssey. There exist myriad genuinely splendid nocturnal excursions to architectural marvels in Spain; however, the Alhambra does not lay claim to such distinction.
