I’m glad I saw this, I’ve been sitting on the bench about doing the mushrooms. But almost sure, I’m going to give it a go. Excited to hear how the grow goes in the tub with aspens shavings.
I've tried growing oyster mushrooms before with reasonable success but never lion's mane. You can try and make some new sterilized medium and add the remnants to it and you will likely get a whole new growth cycle from it. I got I think 3 whole growing cycles that way before I messed up. Good luck.
@@KeepOnGrowin the last two days I just chopped it up and sautéed it with red onion and olive oil a little salt and pepper and had it over scrambled eggs. It was delicious! Definitely going to try and have it around more
Very COOL!!! I was wondering whether you'd ever tried growing mushrooms. I would be very excited to see more content on growing mushrooms. Thanks for all you do!!! God Bless!!!👍🙏❤😊
Some mushrooms prefer to top fruit. Others like to hang off the side (like this lions mane). Ideally, you would position the bag in the direction they would fruit in nature.
The opposite is true in some cases. Cooking a mushroom makes it more bioavailable and easier for our bodies to absorb the nutrition. Cooking methods like frying can increase antioxidants. High temperature water cooking will cause B vitamins and potassium to transfer in the water, but that is fine if you are consuming the water in a soup, broth, or tea. Boiling and draining off that water will result in a loss.
Have you tried growing strawberries or other berries hydroponically? I really want to try it (especially if plastic free) but all the systems online look super complex.
Hi! I'm from Brazil, and we don't have access to the same pre-made brands you use in the U.S. Could you please show how to manually create the nutrient solution, using the same ingredients but without relying on pre-manufactured products? It would be really helpful for those of us who need to mix it ourselves!😢
🎉🍄💚 AWESOME! This is so cool!! They definitely look like they need more fresh air. Cut some holes in your tote, add filter patches (I'll send you some), and you have made a monotub! 👏👏👏
Thanks. I ordered micropore surgical tape. Will that do? Having fun with it, going to order more when we get the grow room straight and it cools down a bit.

Thank you. I think I will try oyster mushrooms too.
Very cool! I've done the same with blue oyster ones. So delicious.
I want to try those too!
Literally tried my first lions mane mushrooms this weekend.
Cool! How did you have it?

I'm thinking why not lay it on its side instead of upright. I will be trying to grow some soon
You certainly can

What temperature do they prefer? I have a covered porch, but the temps here are still in the low 90s during the day.
They like it under 80F I believe. Our house is 78F, high end for them.
does cooking it destroy any of the medicinal qualities? i've always wondering about that. ty.

What are aspen shens? Or whatever you said, please?
Aspen shavings. Used for pet bedding.

Yep! That is what you want. Polyfill will work also! Either one.
